I had new headlights installed and as you probably know, many modern headlights are plastic vs old school glass. This makes them high candidates for discoloration, UV degradation, scouring rom airborne particulates (road grit, sand, pebbles, rocks). Having a sacrificial barrier installed is wise especially since my custom headlights cost me $1k+. Neal set up an appointment and had me in and out within 30 minutes and his staff did a great job. No bubbles or unsightly frayed edges seen. The non-factory lens had numerous curvatures requiring care in stretching and tacking. (I'll update review after a few weeks of driving) There were many other car wrap installers close by and they offered ceramic this and nano that. Headlights simply needed a good, clear plastic barrier to weather small projectiles (and UV). So I opted for Xpel. Where other installers were giving me quotes of $200~, Neal slammed home the deal for out-the-door $80 cash. I will be bringing in other family cars shortly. We took our brand new travel trailer to Northwest Autoshield in June to have XPEL Ultimate installed on the fiberglass front end cap. The RV dealer recommended we have XPEL installed when we took delivery due to the nature of the fiberglass and it's propensity to chip. I called several installers and many were not able to install on RV's or wouldn't be able to do it on our time frame (we had a large trip scheduled and the delivery of the RV had taken longer than expected). I called Neal at Northwest Autoshield and explained my situation. He was very accommodating. He was able to work us into his schedule at a time when it would be easier to tow a large travel trailer into SODO and avoid the rush hour traffic. When we arrived Neal and his crew literally dropped what they were doing and rushed to help us get the trailer pulled into the shop. They immediately got to work while he explained the process to us. The entire install went smoothly and took about 2 hours. There is a Starbuck's probably within walking distance (we brought a second car since we had to tow the trailer with my husband's truck). 3000 miles and 5 states later (not to mention tons of family memories) our beautiful new RV still looks great thanks to Neal and his team. I called into this shop today - they really know there stuff when it comes to paint protection film. I saw the work they were doing first hand it looked top quality - no visible seams etc. Chatted to the owner for 15 minutes and he was nice enough to apply XPEL to a tow hook cover for free. Background - I used to be in the performance automotive industry, 600-1200+HP street cars, 1500+ HP drag racing cars, show cars etc. Yelp is a good starting point, but for car related reviews, car message boards is where you find word of mouth for good vendors! People on the message boards are more particular, usually customize their car and know a much more than the average person about cars. So don't make your decision on the lack of reviews here on Yelp (1 prior to mine). My methodology on finding a vendor to install the XPEL Ultimate film: - Search on XPEL's website for a authorized dealer that is XPEL trained and has the Dap Software (can custom cut on-site) - Choose 3 to contact - Review each vendors website and contact them to hear their pitch and ask questions - Search Google for reviews on the 3 contacted, car message boards, Yelp etc. I contacted the larger establishment first to hear their sales pitch and which in this case was the most expensive choice. So by doing this I had a good reference point. Pretty much I spoke to a receptionist that read off the list of what I got for each package. The 2nd place I called, they seem good, a little fluff on the sales though. Anyhow, they gave me a price for the XPEL Ultimate and about 1.5 weeks later I contacted them again the price was different. I have a really good memory but more importantly I take really good notes when I speak with someone. Btw both places wanted to keep my car overnight to do final touch ups the next day and one place said 2 days! So I ended up speaking with 2 shops that met my criteria and researched prior to talking to Neal from Northwest Autoshield. I also found a lot of positive reviews on the various car message boards about them and Neal was very pleasant and easy to work it. He explained his packages and answered all my questions precisely. The price was fair (in the middle) but more importantly his no pressure sales, knowledge and passion about the quality of the end product/work is even more important. Unfortunately, in the automotive industry you will find a lot of vendors that don't take care of you if something goes wrong. They will blame it on another part or even you and not stand behind their work. They will also smile and be friendly while taking you for a ride because you don't know any better. But in the case with Neal I never felt that way and then with my background I knew pretty much 1/2 way into the conversation I was going to give them a try. The decision now was either on-site or off-site (at his home garage workshop) in the Ravenna area. So I ended up booking an off-site appointment at his workshop. I know many of you would see a red flag not having a leased brick/mortor place of business. But for me that just means less overhead, lower cost and more time to do the job right and or fix any problems in the future if they may arise. I would highly recommend Neal and his crew from Northwest Autoshield. They did a great job on a Premium Package with Full Fenders and Hood on my 2013 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG. Good enough that a few days later and as I type this review in the Starbucks nearby, he is applying a Premium Package for a Brand New 2013 Camry V6 XLE for me as well! BTW as for leaving my car overnight or for two days the other guys wanted, it worked out better with Northwest Autoshield because they will come to my location on-site to do the final touch ups after the film is cured! I wish I found them when I got my 2006 GTO Clear film installed from the dealer way back. I could have saved the 30-50% mark up the dealer takes! And who knows it may have been Neal and his crew doing the install as he does for many dealerships in the area. read more

I am becoming a critic of poor vinyl/wrap/tint work. I started with a local chain, basically excellent reviews with excellent techs, but poor quality work by the owner of the business. Even with the guarantee of replacement how often do you want to go back to have the work done again, and again. I was referred to NWAUTO by Fluery's, Mike has done work over the years on my cars, so his referral was how I met Neil, owner of NWAUTOSHIELD. Neil and his staff run a tight shop. I dealt with Raks and Neil, and I have a very informed eye on good work, in fact, I am the customer you don't want, because I expect quality. My 2012 white GTI is very clean, almost as good as new, and I now know what to expect of a vinyl wrap, and the installers. Neil offered to take me over to the STARBUCKS SODO building where there is a 3rd floor lounge, and pick me back up once the wrap was done. I had my Honda Civic Type R PPF wrapped and windows tinted by Neal and his team, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. From the moment that I first emailed, to the phone conversations to help decide on the work to be done, to the drop off, and final pick up, I could tell that these guys care about the quality of their work. Neal spent his time explaining to me the different products that they use and also talked through the different panels on the car that should get wrapped for protection from common road debris, and I never felt pressured to add to what I wanted. After dropping the car off, they even took me to work about 10 minutes away. While installing, he kept in contact with me to let me know how things were going, which I really appreciated, and they also did some touch up paint on a small rock chip I had collected along the way. Quick too (hour and a half for bumper, front of the hood, and fenders). He'll do the install at your house (if conditions like temperature allow) or at one of two dealers he works with in Seattle.
