Nasty wait service. Horribly rude woman. Good food though and cute atmosphere in a historic alleyway.

Delicious food and interesting food tastes. I have been here several times and have always enjoyed every meal. The "oatmeal crème pie" cookie sandwich is to die for. read more

What an amazing restaurant. We've eaten there so many times and it's always delicious! Some of my favorites are The Who's Wanda and their quiche of the day with a side salad. BakeChop never disappoints. read more

Oh my goodness--I'm still dreaming about the Mediterranean plate! Tender, warm chicken paired with flavorful orzo and all the delicious fixings... it's simply unforgettable. I've tried recreating it at home, but nothing compares to the real thing. Trust me, the only way to experience it properly is to go and order it fresh. You must try it! The Bakeshop is nestled in the charming and up-and-coming downtown DeLand, adding to the whole experience with its cozy, vibrant vibe. read more

This is one of our favorite places in DeLand. We love the location, the atmosphere and the food. The seasonal dishes are great and they have a good beer selection. We've always had good service and the staff seem to work really well together. The rotating dessert menu always has multiple options that fit our tastes. I highly recommend BakeChop to anyone visiting the area. read more

I have been several times and food and service is good. I definitely noticed shrinkflation on their dishes. The hummus appetizer is about half the amount at minimum if not more than it used to be as you only get 2 very thin slices of cucumber, two sticks of carrots, they cut one slice of bread into 4 pieces yet give you 3, two sticks of celery, and 3 slices/ half sticks slices of red pepper lol. That's horrible ratio for the appetizer. Just around 2 months ago when I last ordered it it was a lot more than that easily double plus you got 1 whole slice of bread. It also looks absolutely nothing close to the picture they show for it online portion wise. Easily remove at least 60% of veggies shown there. Minus 1 star for that. I ordered one of their bowls (Earth Bowl) and it was extremely salty. Too salty to eat. I couldn't eat it at least. Just those two bites made me feel nauseous and were equally salty. I had to spit the next one out. I guess they don't do any quality control? They remade the dish which helped with some parts removed but still extremely salty. Probably wont get that dish again. Service was still great even with mishap. I'd still go back and recommend. Everything else I've had was great and service is always great. My rating would be 5 stars again otherwise. read more

Good was fabulous! Wait staff was very attentive! Charming atmosphere. We will be back! We had Earth bowl & ahi tuna nachos read more

Overhyped, overrated and overly expensive for the quality and quantity of food you get. Staff were rude also. Worst burger I have had in a long time, seriously dry, small, overcooked hockey puck-like, and extra for fries for $23! If you look like the wait staff, and only order bowls and Chardonnay you might enjoy it. As for me, I left hungry and very disappointed. I have a long list of grievances but will spare you. Don't believe the hype, read more

What a great find this little café in Artisan Alley is. Outdoor seating and small indoor area. Everyone was very nice & helpful and the menu is terrific. My food was fresh and hugely portioned. The menu is quite interesting and appealing -- I look forward to returning when in Deland to sample more of this fine cuisine and service! read more

Came to Bake chop on a Monday for lunch with a girl friend. The service was friendly. My friend ordered a tea with a lemon cold foam- it was so good! I ordered "The Boulevard" for lunch and a side of quinoa salad. Holy smokes it was delicious. The salad was refreshing and I didn't feel greasy or overly stuffed from my meal. The chicken sandwich was divine. Loved the balsamic glaze, they gave you a big piece of chicken and the bread was fresh. Would come back again to eat this very meal. You can order to-go from the window outside and there's outdoor and indoor seating. You can see the chefs cooking your meal by the bar and not only do they have coffees and teas, there's also a pastry counter too! read more

Quaint little restaurant in Downtown DeLand. Many vegan options. I had the swamp salad with chicken. It could have used a bit more dressing due to the large amount of greens. My husband had the Cocky Joe chicken sandwich with plantains. I loved the different sides they had, too. I had the oatmeal cream pie for dessert (vegan btw)... omg sooo good! Highly recommend this place! Great service, too! read more

We came here January 2024. It was a Monday so it was not to busy. We were greeted nicely and sat at a two top table by the window. My girlfriend ordered the crab cake patty sandwich with fries. $19. And I ordered the slice of quiche with a salad $13 I'm told that each day the quiche is different today mine was bacon, brussel sprouts cheese and onions. I would say it was okay..I probably wouldn't order it again. It had some nice flavor but was kind of dry and not very hot. The salad however was delicious. The fries are served seasoned and crispy. My friend said she enjoyed her crab patty. We then ordered two desserts to go a apple pie cupcake which I didn't get to try and a cherry streusel. I was not impressed with the cherry streusel when I got home but I ate it anyway. Everything here is made fresh to order most things are organic and the desserts are also made fresh. I think today I just picked all the wrong things. I'll try it again another day. read more

We were somewhat in the area (watching an equestrian event in northeast Eustis) so we stopped in for a quick lunch before heading back to the event. We arrived around 11:45 A.M. on a Saturday, and there was a 20 minute wait, but they had one table outside so we went with that. The service was attentive and fairly quick. We had two servers helping us out throughout. I got the blueberry açaí tea, Farm Bowl and a side of beets & goat cheese. My wife got a Boulevard with fries. The Farm Bowl is quite large. I liked it, but I needed extra BBQ sauce to provide a little more flavor. The beets & goat cheese were excellent! My wife thought the Boulevard was okay, but that is largely because she doesn't like goat cheese. We would try BakeChop Artesian Kitchen again. The seating is on a little alley. Nice atmosphere. read more

Food to-go for the brewery next door, great choice! Garbanzo bean salad quite tasty. Chorizo burger and steak sandwich were excellent

This is the first time eating at this restaurant. I knew the prices going in, and it isn't cheap. My sister's order came, and the toast was burned. Burned beyond being edible. This is the cooks fault, however the server should have never set it down on the table. I ordered over hard eggs and they were runny. Now I can live with that, but it isn't what I ordered. Now the grits. These are not the grits I grew up on. I am unsure what type of grits they are. They were topped with spring onions, had a different type of taste (definitely not the taste of grits). I will say the two pieces of bacon were good. We had to ask for salt and pepper, and butter which was provided in a tiny container for three people. We had to ask to have refills. Yes, I did give a nice tip, but won't be back. read more

Decided to check this place out for lunch since the food seemed appealing. Make sure to go up to window if you would like to dine in before going into the resturant. Place is pretty small with limited Amount of seatings. I ordered the Billy Madison which consist of sloppy joe meat with collars on a crossiant. It was actually very good. I did enjoy the season beef with the collars. The crossiant was toasted too. I also chosen a side salad with my meals. Everything was made to order and fresh. The veggie hummus plate was very good as well. Friendly staff and service was great. read more

2nd time (in over 2 years says my last review) & just as good! What a gem, quirky "See Host at window" for a seat with AC at the bar, watching the talented cooks. Hubby's special "This Little Piggy" & my Flower Child marinated grilled portobello mushroom with sprouts & avocado were (can it be) too yummy(?). Cohen was our talented & gracious waiter; he took us through the menu made suggestions and was ALWAYS at our elbow when needed - extra napkins, bill etc w/o being invasive. He has a future! Thanks again for another lovely experience - hope it's sooner, when we return again! read more

Deserves 4.5 stars. We really enjoyed our inventive and delicious meal here! So many wonderful choices, and lost are vegan or vegetarian too! I tired the matcha lemonade and it was delicious and refreshing. I dined in the barbecue tempeh sandwich. The tempeh was a little dry, but overall, every component of this sandwich was excellent, from the creative toppings to the tasty bun. I also tried the crispy bean salad, and it was so good! We dined indoors. This place has a cool vibe. The wait for the food seemed long, but the food was worth it. Our waitress was efficient but seemed bored with her job. read more

A rare jewel of a place in Deland. In a very artistic area tucked in an alley with other equally interesting places is this amazing spot. Very wonderful cuisine choices and some vegan offerings as well. A decent wine selection for such a small spot but very grand on taste and incredible quality and an obviously well trained and educated chef. Some superb menu items and everything we had was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was all equally incredible. Our waitress Deann I think was her name was just the best. Waitress for now as she pays her way through school to be a psychologist specializing with children. I am certain she will have every success. And they are so accommodating! No request too daunting and to coop a slogan, you can truly have it your way here. This is a must visit place to me. An extremely accomplished chef and unrivaled wait staff get two thumbs up from us. read more

Food was delicious, I love the sweet potato fries and John blt, but my favorite is the allicin wonderland burger! And for desert I love when they have any of the flavors of the creme brulee. I usually go here for lunch, and tend to order the quiche of the day, but sometimes that's overcooked. Ive also had a good burger there. Last night we decided to go for dinner. John had the beef tips in a tomato base (I forget the name of the dish) and his beef was dry as though it had been in a crockpot for hours. i ordered the scallops with lemon orzo. The scallops were good, but the orzo was drowning in oil or butter ( didn't taste like lemon at all) & I couldn't enjoy that. In conclusion, I'd stay with the sandwiches, with the interesting sides. read more

Grabbed a quick dinner here and it was great!! We were seated right away and given menus to look over. We ordered the Taylor Trash to start which is a bowl of fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings with 3 different dipping sauces. It was perfect to share between the 4 of us! The fries & rings were perfectly crispy and seasoned and the dipping sauces were delish! I ordered the John BLT and a side salad. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted, not too much, not too little. I could have gone for more bacon, but that's me. I loved the dressing on the side salad! I finished the entire plate. The staff here were quick, friendly and attentive. Our water glasses were never empty and we were regularly checked on. I highly recommend checking out BakeChop! I'll be back--especially to try some of those desserts! read more

Love this place! Our server was awesome and very attentive. We were undecided about the pork and beans soup so she brought us a small sample to try. It was the best bean soup I've had which our whole group ended up ordering the soup and got one to go for each of our husbands since we liked it so much. Two people ordered the BLT sandwich which was large and they both loved it. I had the quiche which was very good and another person ordered their daily special Chicken BauBuns which was unique and had great flavor. We ate outside which was very nice and had a great lunch overall. You definitely need to try this place. I will be back. read more
