Soup and salad special drink included. Only $5.99! Cheaper and tastier than fast food.

Use to be cooks cafe. Still the same good food and same good prices. Cheaper healthier and tastier than fast food.

I know it isn't a very informative photo, but we love this place!

Good food, fair prices, good downtown location. Soups and sandwiches are driving the menu.

Food is pleasant but they are notoriously slow. Takes like 15-20 minutes to get my order on a good day.

Connie's cafe is a hidden gem in Deland. The homemade food and excellent service make them a place to support and enjoy!

I have been coming here since it first opened as Cooks Cafe, and was worried when it changed name/management, but wasn't disappointed.

Hunters & Gatherers is an absolute gem! We each ordered a different sandwich--the Woodland & Rich…read moresteak sandwich and the H&G BLT--and split them. Honestly, that's the best way to do it because you get to experience two incredible sandwiches in one meal. Both were packed with flavor, made with high-quality ingredients, and far exceeded our expectations. The fries were cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. They also serve a house-made tomato ketchup that's a little sweeter than traditional ketchup, and it's a fun, unique touch if that's your style. Service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was genuinely welcoming, attentive without being overbearing, and checked in at all the right times to make sure we had everything we needed. I also enjoyed a fantastic black iced coffee from Trilogy Coffee. One of our favorite surprises was that our server brought us complimentary boiled peanuts. Neither of us had ever tried boiled peanuts before, and they were absolutely incredible! It was such a thoughtful Southern touch that made the experience even more memorable. Great food, generous portions, very reasonable prices, friendly people, a clean restaurant, and a relaxed atmosphere. Hunters & Gatherers is the kind of local place you hope to find, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

The ambiance was inviting, stylish, and felt like the perfect setting for a weekend experience with friends. The food overall was good. The shrimp and grits were definitely the highlight for me full of flavor and well done. The steak, however, wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the mark. The fruit bowl was exactly that fruit in a bowl nothing special but fresh. The banana pudding was delicious and a sweet way to end the meal. The service was a bit inconsistent, which I believe was due to the waitress being very busy. There were a few moments where we waited longer than expected for menus, straws, or even water. While noticeable, it didn't completely take away from the experience and felt more like a staffing issue than a lack of care. Overall, I would absolutely return for brunch with friends. The atmosphere alone makes it worth another visit, and with the right company, it's a great spot to enjoy a relaxed and beautiful brunch experience.

For appetizers, we tried the coconut shrimp, Table tots, spinach dip, and charcuterie. Everything was fantastic except the shrimp, which were a bit overcooked. The rest of the starters were flavorful and well prepared. Most of our group ordered the NY strip since they were out of the filet, while others chose the meatloaf, mushroom pasta, and a few other dishes. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. While the strip wasn't the best I've had, it was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a bit hit or miss. We tried all the pies -- most were decent and nicely presented, though nothing stood out. The salted caramel cheesecake had a grainy texture rather than being smooth. Service was friendly, but a little rushed. Courses came out too quickly, making it hard to enjoy each one before the next arrived. The table became crowded with plates, and the pace felt chaotic at times. The server was kind and seemed possibly overwhelmed. Overall, a good meal with solid food, but pacing and a few execution details could use some attention.
