First I wanna say the customer service is amazing. The young ladies in there allowed me to sample the cream cheese before I decided which one I want it on my bagel and I'm gonna tell you now the cream cheese is not just your standard Philadelphia cream cheese. It was absolutely amazing. With that being said, I never thought that I would say this in my life, but I have feelings for a cinnamon raisin bagel with blueberry cream cheese. Hands-down, one of the best bagels I have ever had ever you can see the beautiful cinnamon swirls in the bagel. The raisins are also in there the blueberry cream cheese with the perfect mix of blueberry, but the tartness of cream cheese. Oh my God, I was in heaven. if ever I am in the area I would 100% stop to this place again they can get my money any day. I literally did a happy dance when I bit into it.

Solid Bagel
Dan M.

Solid bagel. But it was late and they were out of poppy, sesame, and cinnamon raisin, so I went with plain. I also didn't get it toasted. Why I'm trying to say is that while 'solid' means very good, the bagels are probably even better if you get them before noon. What really stood out here though was the patience and friendliness of the guy behind the counter, who I assume is the owner. Or at least one of the owners. This alone makes me want to come back and give him some business. Another plus that might be overlooked by many visitors is that there is free parking right across the street. It's a small city so this is a nice convenience. Recommended. Btw, the red towel under the bagel is because it's a new car and not taking any chances. A beach towel has more than one use.

Great Menu! Very clear & to the point!

Everything about this place is FANTASTIC. The food, the service, the location. The vibe was chill & the place was packed. The staff was friendly & very efficient. My Big Man & I both got bagels, we could only finish half of each. So, if you're only in need of a lighter breakfast, you can definitely share a whole bagel. The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Everything bagel was just that, EVERYTHING! Hands down the best I've had. The New Yorker w/Cream Cheese was flavorful, fresh & packed w/rich cream cheese. Not a lot of seating room inside, but plenty of outside benches along the streets of beautiful downtown Deland. This will without a doubt be our breakfast/lunch spot while in Deland! 10/10 Highly Recommended.

Onion bagel w/ plain cream cheese

I woke up this morning thinking about a bagel and my choice did not disappoint. I ordered an onion bagel with plain cream cheese. I'm usually an everything bagel gal but ever since Dunkin got rid of their onion bagels I hop on them whenever I can! They were so good, a little bite on the outside but soft on the inside. I also got an iced vanilla latte. Perfect taste and not too sweet!

Sandwiches are great. Bagels are great. Muffin was tasteless and stale. Wouldn't purchase muffins. Will keep coming back for the sandwiches and bagels. Customer service was good

Good bagels, great nova sandwich. Wait to order was longer than expected but it was mainly because of people continually walking in.

The ambiance was inviting, stylish, and felt like the perfect setting for a weekend experience with friends. The food overall was good. The shrimp and grits were definitely the highlight for me full of flavor and well done. The steak, however, wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the mark. The fruit bowl was exactly that fruit in a bowl nothing special but fresh. The banana pudding was delicious and a sweet way to end the meal. The service was a bit inconsistent, which I believe was due to the waitress being very busy. There were a few moments where we waited longer than expected for menus, straws, or even water. While noticeable, it didn't completely take away from the experience and felt more like a staffing issue than a lack of care. Overall, I would absolutely return for brunch with friends. The atmosphere alone makes it worth another visit, and with the right company, it's a great spot to enjoy a relaxed and beautiful brunch experience.

For appetizers, we tried the coconut shrimp, Table tots, spinach dip, and charcuterie. Everything was fantastic except the shrimp, which were a bit overcooked. The rest of the starters were flavorful and well prepared. Most of our group ordered the NY strip since they were out of the filet, while others chose the meatloaf, mushroom pasta, and a few other dishes. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. While the strip wasn't the best I've had, it was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a bit hit or miss. We tried all the pies -- most were decent and nicely presented, though nothing stood out. The salted caramel cheesecake had a grainy texture rather than being smooth. Service was friendly, but a little rushed. Courses came out too quickly, making it hard to enjoy each one before the next arrived. The table became crowded with plates, and the pace felt chaotic at times. The server was kind and seemed possibly overwhelmed. Overall, a good meal with solid food, but pacing and a few execution details could use some attention.

About 20 years ago, my sister told me about this place cause she worked across the street from it…read moreand she went there almost every day. Even though time and time again I wanted to go I just never pulled it for one reason or another. But the other day I went and I have to tell you. Wow , if you want a good southern meal with southern hospitality a country kitchen feel like your Mama's homemade cooking. Filled with love in flavor. This is a place to go. My sweet man had their meatloaf plate more food than you can shake a stick at. It was delicious full of flavor and perfectly ,perfectly balanced .Their mashed potatoes ,Remind me of my mom's. They are made the way mashed potatoes are supposed to taste. The meatloaf perfect ,the fried okra just absolutely amazing and the ranch dressing to dip the okra in better than bottled . Then I just had the simple soup ,simple soup my foot .I had their potato soup and the Angel ( I think I remember her saying her name was Chrissy ) who made it , well I have to tell you. I believe when you sit down to a meal, you begin to enjoy it by the aroma of the flavors in the dish this soup when it was placed in front of me teased my pallet just from the aroma with the first bite I knew I was tasting perfection. It wasn't over seasoned. It wasn't under seasoned it hit every point on the flavor scale simple but delicious and extremely satisfying. It filled my stomach and my heart with warmth ,flavor and satisfaction. Now let's talk about the service we were greeted with kindness and a smile each server that we spoke to did more with a smile and a kind word and making our experience worth coming to the restaurant. The prices are reasonable large amount of food you get .The staff is amazing.. The ambience is very country very homie. It just makes you smile. The only thing I have to warn you about is if you are handicap and you are in a wheelchair, the bathrooms not so easy to maneuver. I had to leave my walker outside the bathroom to go into the bathroom, but they make up for it with having handrails for you to support yourself which compensates for the size of the bathroom. so just be prepared for that if you're a handicapped. Coming to this restaurant the only thing I'm sorry about is that it took me 20 years to get here but trust me I will be a regular from now on. The cooking the ambience and the people reminded me of home and what I grew up with perfect experience all the way around.

I've heard nothing but amazing things about BakeChop in DeLand (110 Artisan Aly, right in the heart…read moreof downtown), so I finally had to check it out--and wow, it lived up to every bit of the hype and then some! This scratch kitchen spot has quickly become one of my favorite places in town, and after our recent visit, my guests and I were all blown away. The food was absolutely amazing, impressing everyone at the table so much that we're already planning our next trip back--definitely going to be regulars from here on out. Everything is made from scratch with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care and love that goes into each dish. Their menu is creative and diverse--think insanely good hand-crafted sandwiches, burgers that are huge and perfectly executed (juicy patties on toasted buns, cooked exactly to order with complex, flavorful toppings), hearty salads, quiches, sloppy joes, and daily specials that keep things exciting. We tried a mix of items, and nothing disappointed; flavors were bold, portions generous, and every bite was packed with that homemade goodness. The homemade desserts and rocking sweets are worth saving room for too--they're the perfect finish to an already stellar meal. The vibe is cozy and welcoming--cute little spot with indoor/outdoor seating, great service that's attentive and friendly (staff makes you feel like family right away), and it's in such a charming part of Artisan Alley next to the brewery, perfect for a casual lunch, dinner, or just hanging out. They even offer delivery and catering if you want to bring that magic home or to an event. BakeChop is the real deal--a local gem putting heart into food, family, friends, and good times. If you're in DeLand and haven't been yet, stop waiting and go try it. You won't be disappointed; we'll be back often for sure! Highly recommend calling (386) 873-6524 or checking bakechop.com for the menu and hours. Keep up the incredible work, team! 1computeroutlet , 1websitenow

There was a market going on that we enjoyed exploring on our way over to the restaurant. It's not very big on the inside but does have tables inside and out. The inside is open allowing you views into the kitchen area. I ordered the Allicin Burger which is a beef burger with french onion reduction, crispy onion straws, swiss cheese, and garlic aioli. The meat was very juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed all the onions. It made for a solid meal. The old bay potato chips were a good pairing for the burger. My mom ordered a more traditional burger and she liked it. I noticed the bakery item display and it had a good selection. I deducted 1 star for customer service. While the food was very good, the service did not feel warm. Our server felt very cold and was short with us. She never once cracked a smile and it almost felt like we might have been bothering her by just being there. I wish we had a friendly server because it would have made the experience much more enjoyable.

We were…read moretold there would be a short wait, which was completely fine, and we didn't mind spending about 20 minutes upstairs on the rooftop enjoying the DJ and atmosphere. Once seated, we were placed in the second dining room and ordered drinks, four appetizers, and our entrees. Unfortunately, from the start, the table was not properly set. We had no silverware, no napkins, no side plates for sharing appetizers, no coasters, and really no table settings at all. For a party ordering multiple appetizers and drinks, this immediately made service feel disorganized and inattentive. The issue became even worse when our entrees arrived and, almost immediately after, staff started stacking chairs around us at approximately 9:12 p.m. We had only been seated maybe 15-20 minutes earlier, so as a party of five on a Saturday night, we certainly did not expect the restaurant to begin visibly shutting down while we were just starting our meal. What made it even more frustrating was that these tables were already available when we first walked in, despite being told there would be a wait. Since we were entertaining guests, we thought this would be a great opportunity to show off the rooftop, which is such a great feature for a small town like DeLand and has so much potential. Instead, the experience became embarrassing and disappointing. Having staff stack chairs and place them on tabletops in the middle of our meal felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made us feel rushed out rather than welcomed. When we asked to speak with a manager, the response we received was that "the servers have to go home." That explanation was unacceptable. Paying customers should never be made to feel like an inconvenience, especially while actively dining. With my own background in restaurant service and management, I found both the handling of the situation and the manager's response to be extremely poor. As a DeLand local, this was especially disappointing because this restaurant has been making improvements and adding entertainment, which we were excited to support. Unfortunately, the poor service and lack of professionalism completely overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable night out.
