I swear I always forget to take pictures because I'm too busy living in the moment... and this visit was no exception. I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and we decided to hang out in the cocktail/bar area. The ambiance was really nice. Cozy, relaxed, and exactly the kind of vibe we were looking for to catch up, laugh, and celebrate. I ordered an Old Fashioned. It was decent. This place is so cute ! The food was excellent and were so glad we stopped in It's located inside the Deland Hotel which is a really old hotel located on the outskirts of downtown Deland. The eatery was an indoor outdoor area and we chose to sit outside . The prices were decent and the food was really good ! We had bloody Mary's and mimosas as well as their fat kid fries and mozerella sticks with prosciutto wrapped inside . We also had the avocado toast which was good and my boyfriend got a smash burger. The person taking care of us was nice and it was such a gorgeous day out and we weee happy we went ! There was even an art gallery inside the hotel that we were able to select a piece of free art! Great surprise stop in Deland this week with friends for dinner. The entry and bar area are soooo cozy warm and welcoming. The bar area is almost out of a movie its so fun! Food was delish. We ate in the restaurant - which is behind a few little boutique stores - again - so cute. I had the cesar with chicken - basic but well done! Hubs had the salmon - very tasty over rice. The Black Manhattan, Old Fashion, & the Red Wine blend were all greatly enjoyed. The food menu is equally enticing, my Filet Bulgogi Fries were delicious, and I look forward to sampling more menu items. The indoor dining space is small and cozy. I imagine it is nice to dine on the patio, but it rained all day and a cold front was moving in so we didn't want to risk it. The service is friendly and quick. There is a really nice selection of craft cocktails and the food menu was eclectic. I had the filet with compound butter and mashed potatoes while my husband had the crab cake sandwich. We had the pork belly appetizer and finished with the brownie sundae. Everything was delightful. Went in for brunch this afternoon with my husband and son. I had a Smashburger and fries and it was amazing! Also had a bloody Mary that was one of the best I've ever had. Incredible service, loved the outdoor seating/ambiance and the food was SO good. (If you don't want to sit outside in the patio there are tables inside as well!) The restaurant is nestled behind the Deland Hotel and the entrance is in the back. You have to try this place out! All of the meals are fresh, the bread is baked daily & each dish is unique. You're also able to order specialty cocktails from the bar inside. The waitress was quick to get us our waters and our orders. She explained how the chef cooks his food to a 'T and was very honest & genuine about the food and recommendations. I had the steak sandwich and my husband got the smash burger. Both were delicious! Including our sides which was, the street corn, french fries (nice and crispy!), and mac & cheese. We enjoyed eating at this spot, the food felt fresh and healthy. They sat us outside because it was packed and we got lucky because there was live music. The vibe was great ! perfect for a brunch date. We started with prosciutto cheese sticks they were yummy specially dipped in the sauce it came with it had a sweet taste to it. Won't go again.very uncomfortable atmosphere. Walked in and all the workers were starting at us. No clear direction on where to sit. Found a seat and wait more than 30 minutes and had to flag down a worker to take our order because at that point we already had so much time to pick it out what we wanted. At that point a group of people had come in 15 min after us and got there food. Worker came with a whole lot of attitude that was unwarranted. Food came out and was not good for the price no seasoning on any of the food and some of the food came not hot. Worker never checked up on us but did ask if we wanted the check. Overall 0/10 never would go again. Especially if you are of color be careful because they won't take care of you like they would others. I don't play into the racial stereotypes but this was not a place for me and my friends. It's 2025 and this is the behavior is unacceptable. Anyways we will never go again. Hopefully this was helpful. I called for a last minute reservation the morning of myself and a few girlfriends wanting to do a brunch. I didn't expect to get a table and figured we'd wait but the hostess was so accommodating. Although it sounded like she was booked for the time we requested, she gave me a few options. We ended up choosing 2 split tables inside next to each other. When we got there the tables still had others seated at them and they felt really bad so we ended up moving outside. It was a little chilly but nothing unbearable. We didn't order drinks because a few had driving from very far. For brunch I got the smash burger with an egg, and a side of bacon. Everything was cooked perfect. The girl next to me had ordered the grilled cheese and that looked fire as well ((however, it did included ham, which looked rather fatty so definitely keep that in mind)) everyone else's food looked amazing! The beautiful antique bar is comforting and makes one feel that the elegant past is here in the present. We ordered a couple of cocktails. We're a bit along the lines of cocktail snobs, and at home make pre-prohibition and prohibition era craft cocktails. We order something else. Once food arrives, we are told they are out of cinnamon rolls. It's a Sunday around noon, and 2 out of 3 of us didn't get what we wanted. This is a hidden treasure. This historic hotel is tucked away on New York Avenue, several blocks east of Woodland Blvd. and has indoor and outdoor patio seating for dining but check the hours before heading there. We have eaten here several times and they never disappoint us. The atmosphere, service and food is outstanding. Today we had Bella for our server and she was fantastic. We started with a home made cinnamon role topped with their house made whipped cream which was very big and enough for four of us to try. Three of us then had the Captain Crunch French toast which comes with a side of bacon. It was delicious. I also tried the Cowboy Candy which is pickled jalapeños with a simple syrup and it was delicious. It was not very spicy and had a great flavor. The French toast was outstanding. They make it using their house made sour dough bread along with a big scoop of their house made whipped cream. The bacon is thick cut and cured in house. They have a huge smoker out back that is used to smoke all of their meat. My wife had the Shrimp Toast which is also made on their homemade sour dough bread. It was piled high with medium to large shrimp along with sautéed onions and peppers then covered with a mild spicy cheese sauce and then topped with an egg. They serve their coffee in a French press and it is delicious. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The owners Ian and his wife Kacie are always around working either in the restaurant, bar or hotel. They are supper friendly and always willing to talk about the history of the hotel. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I had the shrimp toast on sour dough bread which was delicious but would have liked the bread to be crispier - wasn't toasted enough so it was a little soggy. I never send food back but the seafood piccata was disgusting, the fried rice was salty and tasted like rice cooked hours prior and kept warm. Lodged in the back of the Deland Hotel is this great restaurant! With a nice and quiet outdoor area and on especially hot days an air conditioned indoor seating area. The waiter/waitresses were very kind, and as we were visiting from out of town provided some ideas of what to see around after eating. They checked in on us every so often, and the food didnt take long for it to be ready. The fat fries were great. The sauce and egg perfectly complemented the french fries and wasnt too much of one or the other. The chicken biscuit was good, well cooked and the biscuit was notably well made!
