Great breakfast at the Potato Patch this Saturday! They have plenty of options and great prices! I had the Western omelet and it was every filling and cooked well. It came with hash browns and toast too! I had had reinfected juice to drink. They have basic brewers hot coffee. No lattes or anything like that. They keep it simple here, but it was busy so it's clearly a good spot. One downside is they only take cash, no cards. So make sure you bring cash!!

Tiny place that takes cash only.... This is our second visit... the food was excellent. No frills and they close early. Been open over 30 years. If you get there early you should have no issues if you don't be prepared for a bit of a wait to park. You can park elsewhere and walk. We ordered the steak and cheese omelet and the crab Benedict....

They have cups and ice, but one cannot get a cup of water. They will however sell you a 16.9oz bottle of Zephyrhills water for $1.50. The sausage gravy was seasoned just right and tasty, but the biscuit was soft and had no crisp on the outside. Seems to be a running theme in this area. The thin bacon was cooked to perfection with just the right combination of crispness and chewiness.

We had the pleasure of eating at the potato patch today and it was so wonderful! It was the perfect mom and pop place to dine, we even got to meet Doug, Lil, their daughter and grandson as it's a family run restaurant! ****Just be aware, they are a cash only business so make sure to bring your dollar bills!!!****

I love a classic breakfast like this. Such good food and service. The pancake was delicious and I LOVED the crispy hash brown.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while but my timing to Deland never added up to their open hours. We were able to pop in on 12/27, before my parents left to go back to Ohio. The building itself is small inside. However - they comfortably sat the 5 adults and 2 children of our party. Our service was great! Our waitress was very nice and the food came out quick, hot, and delicious! No one had a complaint about their food. They do only take cash or check though - so ensure that you know that going! It is definitely a local place I would return to!

Love the phone number. Take a look 794 - ate one ate one.

In DeLand and had to come back. We were able to sit down right away. Decided to try something new. Potato pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce. Used the sour cream on them. Side was sausage links. Candyce had bacon cheese omelet. Service is great.... food good and fast. Make sure you bring cash, do not take credit cards.

Breakfast on a Sunday morning after church was very filling and a nice experience. We got there before the rush and were seated right away. Had to try the pancakes after reading a previous review. I got the hash and eggs which gave me the option of toast, biscuit or pancake. Best of both worlds for me. The pancake was very good along with everything else. My husband ordered the ribeye and eggs. He was pleasantly surprised at the cut of meat. It was tender, no griddle and cooked just right.

This was a great surprise. Never judge a book by its cover. We ended up at this place by chance as our original choice for breakfast was on a 4 hour wait. Now let's get the important stuff out of the way. They only take cash or check so make an ATM run before coming. Also parking is not the best so beware as they seem to be packed all of the time. Our wait wasn't too bad thankfully. Once seated we had our drink orders taken and was given time to look at the menu. Get the sweet tea! They definitely make it correctly here although my son said it was too sweet. I decided on one of the breakfast combos that came with 2 eggs, grits, ham and the best freaking pancake! I'm planning on returning just for pancakes. They are homemade with buttermilk and taste like nothing I've had from any other place. Bring your patience as it may take a bit to get your final bill where you will pay at the register. Everyone was super friendly and you can tell the regulars in town love to come here.

Ok.. where to stars? Honestly this place wasn't on my radar! My friends and I were planning breakfast at another place but the wait was 4 hours!! We looked through yelp and as usual, we weren't disappointed by the options. Doug & Lil's Potato Patch was a pleasant surprise.. everything from the wait (barely waited 10 mins) to the service and the food was perfect. I ordered 2 fried eggs, ham, and a pancake. Everything was good. The eggs were good, the ham was moist and the grits was yummy! The pancake... it stole the show. It was so delicious that I asked our waitress what the secret ingredient was. She told me buttermilk and they make their own batter. I also ordered a sweet tea with the intention of adding milk but I gotta tell you, their tea is really good and didn't need the milk. My experience was amazing and everything exceeded my expectations. Loved everything about this restaurant. One thing I have to point out : they only accept checks and cash so make sure you have either.

Found this breakfast place on our way to a event in the deland area. Busy but a good sign. Ordered my usual breakfast. 2 eggs scrambled, bacon, grits, and biscuit. Food was good waitress was wonderful. Prices appropriate. Stays busy because they have repeat customers and it was good. Support your local business.

The ambiance was inviting, stylish, and felt like the perfect setting for a weekend experience with friends. The food overall was good. The shrimp and grits were definitely the highlight for me full of flavor and well done. The steak, however, wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the mark. The fruit bowl was exactly that fruit in a bowl nothing special but fresh. The banana pudding was delicious and a sweet way to end the meal. The service was a bit inconsistent, which I believe was due to the waitress being very busy. There were a few moments where we waited longer than expected for menus, straws, or even water. While noticeable, it didn't completely take away from the experience and felt more like a staffing issue than a lack of care. Overall, I would absolutely return for brunch with friends. The atmosphere alone makes it worth another visit, and with the right company, it's a great spot to enjoy a relaxed and beautiful brunch experience.

For appetizers, we tried the coconut shrimp, Table tots, spinach dip, and charcuterie. Everything was fantastic except the shrimp, which were a bit overcooked. The rest of the starters were flavorful and well prepared. Most of our group ordered the NY strip since they were out of the filet, while others chose the meatloaf, mushroom pasta, and a few other dishes. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. While the strip wasn't the best I've had, it was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a bit hit or miss. We tried all the pies -- most were decent and nicely presented, though nothing stood out. The salted caramel cheesecake had a grainy texture rather than being smooth. Service was friendly, but a little rushed. Courses came out too quickly, making it hard to enjoy each one before the next arrived. The table became crowded with plates, and the pace felt chaotic at times. The server was kind and seemed possibly overwhelmed. Overall, a good meal with solid food, but pacing and a few execution details could use some attention.

This scratch kitchen spot has quickly become one of my favorite places in town, and after our recent visit, my guests and I were all blown away. The food was absolutely amazing, impressing everyone at the table so much that we're already planning our next trip back--definitely going to be regulars from here on out. Everything is made from scratch with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care and love that goes into each dish. Their menu is creative and diverse--think insanely good hand-crafted sandwiches, burgers that are huge and perfectly executed (juicy patties on toasted buns, cooked exactly to order with complex, flavorful toppings), hearty salads, quiches, sloppy joes, and daily specials that keep things exciting. We tried a mix of items, and nothing disappointed; flavors were bold, portions generous, and every bite was packed with that homemade goodness. The homemade desserts and rocking sweets are worth saving room for too--they're the perfect finish to an already stellar meal. The vibe is cozy and welcoming--cute little spot with indoor/outdoor seating, great service that's attentive and friendly (staff makes you feel like family right away), and it's in such a charming part of Artisan Alley next to the brewery, perfect for a casual lunch, dinner, or just hanging out. They even offer delivery and catering if you want to bring that magic home or to an event. BakeChop is the real deal--a local gem putting heart into food, family, friends, and good times. If you're in DeLand and haven't been yet, stop waiting and go try it. You won't be disappointed; we'll be back often for sure! Once seated, we were placed in the second dining room and ordered drinks, four appetizers, and our entrees. Unfortunately, from the start, the table was not properly set. We had no silverware, no napkins, no side plates for sharing appetizers, no coasters, and really no table settings at all. For a party ordering multiple appetizers and drinks, this immediately made service feel disorganized and inattentive. The issue became even worse when our entrees arrived and, almost immediately after, staff started stacking chairs around us at approximately 9:12 p.m. We had only been seated maybe 15-20 minutes earlier, so as a party of five on a Saturday night, we certainly did not expect the restaurant to begin visibly shutting down while we were just starting our meal. What made it even more frustrating was that these tables were already available when we first walked in, despite being told there would be a wait. Since we were entertaining guests, we thought this would be a great opportunity to show off the rooftop, which is such a great feature for a small town like DeLand and has so much potential. Instead, the experience became embarrassing and disappointing. Having staff stack chairs and place them on tabletops in the middle of our meal felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made us feel rushed out rather than welcomed. When we asked to speak with a manager, the response we received was that "the servers have to go home." That explanation was unacceptable. Paying customers should never be made to feel like an inconvenience, especially while actively dining. With my own background in restaurant service and management, I found both the handling of the situation and the manager's response to be extremely poor. As a DeLand local, this was especially disappointing because this restaurant has been making improvements and adding entertainment, which we were excited to support. Unfortunately, the poor service and lack of professionalism completely overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable night out.
