This location of Gram's Kitchen is located in a stand alone structure in Orange City, Florida. This All-American diner-type restaurant has advertisements from numerous local businesses plastered all over the walls and table tops as it's main decor (I'm assuming said businesses pay a fee for them to have done so). Seating choices include booths and tables. We chose a booth but the hard wooden bench was super uncomfortable. Noise level is average with 1950's tunes playing in the background (which helped to mute the occasional curse words the wait staff were using as they crisscrossed to the different tables - I don't mind the profanity, but just a heads up in the event that you do or come with children). Our server was average but did apologize when I asked for a new glass of water due to the other one having an insect floating on top. Food was also average and was a little over priced. My husband ordered a BLT hoagie (it came without the onions he asked for) with a side of fries and I ordered a chef salad and one biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was huge but it tasted a little underdone and I couldn't finish it. We took a blueberry muffin "to go" and it was pretty average as well. Wanted the most comfortable for my ailing friend, they were kind enough to bring cushions for the otherwise hard wood booth. Menu has breakfast and lunch items. Nice variety. I only got through the eggs, bacon and half the browns and biscuit/gravy. It was delicious though I did need to add more pepper to the gravy, but I like mine heavy pepper. Our waitress was fun and I made her laugh pretty good. When I saw the size of my partner's burger I accidentally let out I hope you're f-bomb hungry and both the waitress and my partner died laughing ... Let me say to bring your appetite! This is a lot of good down home cooking for cheap. My hubs and I both ordered omelets and they were huge! 3 extra large eggs are used in each omelet. The grits have the right consistency I always add more butter to mine. The hash browns were made perfectly, crisp but not burnt. Service was excellent as we noted when we walked in and were greeted by 5 different people and seated right away. This is a happening place for breakfast on a Saturday morning so it was noisy but not so much so you couldn't have a conversation. Gram's has become our go-to spot for breakfast for quite a few reasons, not the least of which is the value. They do have some more expensive items on the menu, but for my wife and I we can have a full breakfast for less than $20, which is just unheard of post-pandemic. The whole restaurant is covered in ads, the walls, the menu, and even the table, which is a bit jarring, but not unusual for a place like this. I will say that the ads on the wall aren't just plastered posters thrown up willy-nilly. They all look hand painted by a single artist in a single style, which makes them feel more like decoration and less like intrusive ads - some of them are actually cool to look at. The place does get loud when it's busy. It's not a huge place and the tables get pretty close together, but it's usually not an issue having a conversation. When we were sat down at first we were say by the entrance and that was much worse. People coming in, going out and the orders being shouted in the kitchen made it less than pleasant, however after asking the staff had no issue moving us into the main dining room without a fuss and there was no issue there. The staff as a whole are all very friendly. It's clear they like their job and are just overall pleasant. Our waitress recognized us after a few months of us not coming in. If you're looking for that small town breakfast diner feel, good food, and not fancy breakfast place prices, you can't go wrong with Gram's Kitchen. read more

Inside the restaurant has local business advertisements plastered all over the walls and on the tables. Something unique I've never seen before. The pricing of food is very affordable. The food itself, nothing that really stood out. Pretty average to be honest but I guess that's the typical diner food that you get. I regret to share a deeply disappointing experience my parents had at Gram's Kitchen. Despite being seated promptly and served drinks, the waitress blatantly ignored them when it came to taking their food order. Shockingly, other patrons were served while my parents were left waiting for over 15 minutes. The stark contrast in treatment was not only disheartening but also unacceptable. This incident reflects a disturbing lack of equality and respect. Unfortunately, my parents chose to leave after the 15 minutes due to the poor customer service from the server. It is disheartening to witness such behavior in a supposedly welcoming establishment. I hope this review encourages a reconsideration of customer service practices at Gram's Kitchen. Update: Spoke with Missy (manager). She was very apologetic and nice. She reviewed the camera and explained that the server was working a large party in back room and that caused a delay in service. I do think the server should have communicated the delay to my parents as a form of customer service. Missy did offer to comp their meal should they return. read more

Several breakfast options on a menu that offers lunch and dinner selections too. One server happily took our beverage orders and in less than 3 minutes, another popped by our booth for our entrees. I ordered two eggs with ham steak, home fries and toast. I have a thing for crispy over-easy eggs - was not disappointed. This simple request isn't as easy to get at bigger chain restaurants. The rye toast was thick and generously buttered, the potatoes were perfectly browned. Everything was fresh hot, not set under a heat lamp. I had a bad experience here and will not be back. There are lots of other places in Central Florida it eat breakfast than this place. I went in with a friend for breakfast and I was just intersted in having an simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast.. that's about it. I couldn't find that selection on the menu. Eveything was priced to include items I didn't want. Then the waitress came up and asked if we were ready. My buddy was and gave his order. I told her I wasn't ready and flipped the menu onto the table. She left with my friends order and I waited for her to get back. She never returned. My buddy got his food but it was someone else that served it. After my friend was half way finished she returned to check on him. He told her that I wanted to order food. I told her it was now a waste of time because my friend was halfway finished with his meal. She told me she thought I wasn't eating.. I told her I never said that. I just wasn't ready to ordre at that moment my friend was. She asked if I wanted to see the manager. I asked her why.. So that I could complain to them about the same issue. Telling the manager isn't going to fix anything. I told her to leave me alone. My friend finished his meal and the waitress never returned to the table. My friend waited a bit and then with some annoyance got up and said we needed to check out. As he paid for his meal I spotted this sign and was not happy about it. While it can get frustrating to have co-workers not come to work or screw over the staff.. But, that is the buisness of the owner not mine. Don't air your dirty laundry. Sharing they are short staffed is ok.. But, throwing those other co-workers under the bus isn't ok. As I posted in the begining of this review I will not be back to this place. I've never quite experienced food like this.. I ate MRE's in the dessert that were more edible. Anything we ordered that was fried, tasted absolutely horrid. Maybe they don't change their fryer grease as often as they should. I regrettably ordered the prime rib.. I've never seen a peice of meat like that in my life. Food very ordinary but prices very low. I understand that bad things happen, the real issue is that the "management" are handling it very badly. They already have a notice that the restaurant is closing early Friday and Saturday when they normally offer Fish and Chips and Prime Rib in the evening. All the waitresses and staffing continued to ignore us as they brought in other families and proceeded to take their orders and everything even after arriving after us.
