I LOVE THIS PLACE!! It really is a hidden treasure of DeLand. Its nestled in Artisan Alley and offers locally grown, organic and free range food.. right down to the eggs! They have vegan, and gluten free options, they have a daily special dish, a daily quiche (when its not all eaten by the lunch crowd!) and beautiful soups. You MUST save room for dessert too. They are made fresh, and range from light to decadent! The employees (which never change because who would want to leave!!) are some of the best around. They are always friendly, informed and intuitive of your needs. I can't even give e you a "try this" because there are so many favorite dishes, but for lunch the quiche is a huge favorite of ours, and for dinner its usually the daily special!! read more

I've heard stories of how good this place was. Best burger in Deland, best restaurant in Deland. I didn't believe it, but boy was I was wrong. A few weeks ago I ordered online and brought the food back home. Everyone was very nice and friendly. The food was A+. I went back a second time the other day and was blown away again. This time I picked it up with curbside, and they were super friendly and helpful again. The food was perfect. As a vegan, it's hard to find a fun place to grab a bite to eat that offers more than just salads. I was so happy to discover that bake chop offers a completely vegan burger (beyond burger) and it is so delicious. Their fries are also vegan and are probably the best fries I've ever tried as well. The waiters are very nice and helpful, and everything is presented nicely on the plate. The environment is nice and clean and has that cute downtown vibe to it as well. We walked in here on a whim, after peeking at the menu and deciding that this place would do for a bunch of picky vegetarians. This was an understatement! We had a delightful lunch, the highlight of which for me was a roasted root vegetable medley which was NOT the usual collection - radishes and rutabagas were included - which was deliciously spicy, crunchy, and tender. Great lil hole-in-the-wall! The staff, the food & the menu options are great. It's a cute tiny restaurant that caters to a healthier trendier kinda food movement. We selected a window/ street view seat with bar-height stools. Portions are great. Service excellent. My wife is NOT a desert person but she loved the pecan/cranberry tart. There was an antique motorcycle event in a 'garage' off Artisan Alley on 3/9/2018. After checking out the bikes, stopped in at BakeChop for dinner. I had the Ol' Henry burger, with fresh made onion rings. Dad had the chicken salad on pita bread with a side of beet salad. I think Glenn had the chicken salad also, Mike had a burger. I decided to try their IPA - the grapefruity taste was a real eye opener. They need to tweak it a bit more. The burger was a generous patty, cooked just right. Checked out the menu prior to meeting a coworker for lunch. 1:30 on Friday and still super crowded. All the outdoor seating was taken and a wait at the door. Good sign. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaruant. I worked with Taylor to cater my wedding . They were so easy to work with . The day of my outdoor wedding ,it rained which through everything off . Taylor and her crew showed up and even helped with the decorations to the tables. The food was amazing . Every guest we had stopped me about the food. It was so wonderful to have a weedding that everyone talked about the food . We mad a custom menu of two proteins , salad, rolls and our requested scallop potatoes. All of it was so wonderful . Such amazing food , people and price . What a find! (On Yelp of course). In town on a quilt shop hop - DeLand has a lovely strip of downtown stores and restaurants, and this was on a little side street called Artesian Alley. The place is tiny, but the menu has choices - daily offerings are on the chalkboard. We sat at the bar by the kitchen - fascinating to watch. The food was excellent- I had a BLT with the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. At the waitress's suggestion hubby had the Conrad - a meatball sub and was not disappointed. I recently had the "Ol Henry" which was a simple and delicious burger made of lean, juicy meat. Perfect sized portions with the hand-cut fries and a brown ale to top it off made this an excellent dinner date. We were a party of 9 including 3 kids so we had to wait about 20 minutes at 5:20 on a Thursday. Everyone of us loved our food! Left-hander burger was amazing, so flavorful and fresh. Loved my sweet potato fries, too. Others in my party got the quiche of the day, BBB burger, Freshman, Conrad, and Ol' Henry. I was pleased there was a kids menu. My youngest got the kids grilled cheese. It's a small place and it was pretty loud inside, so our large party had trouble hearing each other. At Bake Chop, the meat is 100% grass fed beef, the shrimp is local and wild caught, and most of the produce is local and organic or organically grown. In addition, just about everything is house made. I ordered a small plate named Who's Wanda. To begin with, the base is comprised of a grilled avocado topped with a black bean pineapple salsa, tasty shrimp with adobe mayo smeared across the plate for dunking. The shrimp were very flavorful and tender and the black bean salsa was light and perfectly mixed with tiny chunks of pineapple, onion and tomato. Yum! The so-called small plate was hardly that, it was clearly entree size to me. Bake Chop is a wonderful establishment in a lovely and happening area of downtown Deland. Went twice so far for lunch and was very pleased. Fast serving food, but with the highest of quality. From the Burgers and sandwiches to their corn dogs and salads, I was in awe. Everyone that I witnessed also agreed that it was possibly the best food in deland. The environment is neat and sophisticated and will serve to please many different types of foodies. Let's start by saying, when we were leaving we talked about coming back several times in the next week, and were a little disappointed that they were closed through the holiday week while we were visiting. The food was delicious. The service was phenomenal. We sat at the bar watching the chefs cook and it was hard sitting through the waiting time before our food came.
