We walked up to an empty restaurant for late lunch and we were asked if we had a reservation. That was odd to start. We were joined by a rooster and a hen sitting in the railing. It didn't bother us but they clearly hang out there a good bit. We had a table on the porch and the bartender was the only service. He worked hard but only had us and one other table. He was nice and gave a good recommendation of the southern fried chicken. I enjoyed it. It was a good chicken sandwich, but nothing really jumped at me for seafood. My wife went with the fish tacos. The fish were fresh and big chunks. It was good but not great. We were sent here by locals. I'd come back and try something different. Tracey was the worst. Wouldn't even tell us her name when she came to initially greet our table. I booked this restaurant for my wife's birthday dinner during our visit to Key West. Unfortunately this turned out to be the worst experience of our trip. We waited 1h and 30 minutes for our entrees before we decided to just leave and go somewhere else. The waiter offered no explanation to why our entrees had taken so long. 2 other tables that sat down after us got their entrees and even their checks before us, while we still waited for our food. If your not white, don't come here, It was truly disheartening watching the attention all the other tables got around us, while we were trying to get the waiter's attention to find out where our food is. Bagatelle was OK. Not amazing like the reviews led us to believe. I think brunch is really king here. Unfortunately, Key West is rather limited in its nice dinner options, so we tried here. Our drinks were ok. I had a bagatini which was a bit watery but decent. We tried the cherry jubilee, a bit sweet. The key lime martini was great but definitely a dessert cocktail. It was creamy. For apps, we had the beef carpaccio (actually very delicious). The palm salad (also great) and the lobster mac and cheese. This was the let down for me. There were so many reviews about the lobster mac and it was not good. Not cheesy. Not seasoned, and barely any lobster. Go down Duval to DJ's clam shack and get yourself some lobster. We were in Key West for 6 days and enjoyed three amazing meals here. We had breakfast and lunch, and then returned on Thanksgiving day for a meal with our entire family, our daughters and in-laws. It was just as wonderful as the prior two. Brussels, BBQ bacon, BBQ shrimp = YUM!! Mimosas and mojitos the best on the island hands down, the omelets, and house potatoes, superb! I would have given 5 stars but I had the southern Benedict which looked absolutely delicious but the taste wasn't as delicious it was still yummy not horrible but my eggs were not runny like I thought they would be for a Benedict and I could have used a bit more hollandaise sauce because the corn bread base definitely made it a little dry since there wasn't any yolk. But other than that everything else was great! Definitely recommend making a reservation if you are looking to sit on the porch. read more

I am a key west local and have eaten here several times plus referred Bagatelle to friends and many visitors. I recently made a reservation for 8; we were doing a celebration of life that day...(this was the deceased's favorite restaurant) so we all (her family and friends) wanted to honor her memory for a nice meal after the ceremony. I personally made reservation for 8 people for the balcony. I had the hostess confirm date/time/balcony-to be sure! I even called back several days later to confirm all details- being this was an extra special occasion with specific requests from the family. We arrive and not only did we not have the table together-we were shown to 2 tables--inside. As I tried to explain that I had called several times to go over specific details(and confirmed!!)... The hostess had a horrible attitude. She told me that the actual owner of this restaurant called and talked to me........ not true. I have yet to speak with anyone about this!!?!..... little did they (hostesses) know; half our party was still standing downstairs listening to them badmouth us upstairs. Horrible, horrible attitudes. Nothing was offered to correct the mistake. We even offered to come back the next night (for the balcony) and were told "they already had reservations." This is not a normal attitude or work ethic in key west. Being a local that has a lot of visitors and also in the vacation home rental business-this really was very disappointing. Not just the : NOT providing what was promised on such a special evening... just the complete lack of care, concern and again--HORRIBLE attitudes. I will NOT BE RECOMMENDING. And as I have been talking with other locals around town; it seems this is a common issue at Bagatelle. Owners/managers should pay attention. Or not...but I certainly will not be spending money or sending people here- ever again. read more

We enjoyed our whole meal and experience here. We were seated inside upstairs (would recommend that you ask for an outside table when you make your reservation...and definitely make reservations). The wait staff is excellent and did everything so well during this time of Covid measures. They had a nice, full beverage menu. We ordered the poke and the crab cake appetizer and both were delicious. The burrata and tomato salad was OK but wouldn't get again. My husband was wowed by the whole.snapper and loved the chili sauce on it. The chicken was OK but a bit dry. It is a seafood kind of place so I probably should have gotten something in that area. Had dinner at Bagatelle the food was excellent the service at the table was tremendous as well. HOWEVER We proceeded to the bar to have after dinner drinks and the bartender was somewhat disturbing. I asked her what her best drink was and she said shots of the Tequila! I thought she was fooling around however she was dead serious she said there's not a drink here that she makes are as good as a shot of tequila! I proceeded to order a Manhattan which was good. The bartender indicated that she used to work at nineOnefive and they put her in the corner and she moved down the street. I understand that both restaurants are owned by the same company, well maybe she should be working at Smokey Joe's and not a fine establishment like this one. Came to Key West for a small getaway with friends and pups so I had to do my homework before about all restaurants I wanted to try out while there and Bagatelle was on my list ! Ended up eating twice, luckily enough without reservations and on the actual Thanksgiving day and even accompanied by our dogs too!! All staff was nice and welcoming, and the food was amazing!! The servers don't give you anything you need for breakfast I had to ask for a spoon for my coffee I had asked for sugar for my coffee I'd ask for ketchup I had to ask for salt and pepper they were absolutely clueless and no one speaks english.
