Bagatelle is in an adorable house with a two story porch. I made a reservation for the porch upstairs and was happy that we were given a perfect table overlooking the street. We dined here this evening after receiving a few recommendations from locals. We made a reservation and noted that we were celebrating our honeymoon in KW. Upon arriving, we were taken to a table upstairs and seated on the outside balcony. We really thought that was cool. We reviewed the menu and felt that we weren't really hungry since we had lunch a few hours before. So we opted to stick with the light side of the menu. For drinks, we had the strawberry mint blast, and a local beer. For dinner we chose two wedge salads, lobster mac n cheese, and the swordfish entree (came with a black bean and corn risotto, and asparagus). My strawberry mint blast was good. We really loved our wedge salads. My lobster mac n cheese was just ok. It was heavy and creamy, but didn't really have a mac n cheese taste. I felt like I was eating creamy noodles with chunks of lobster. I asked for my husband's feedback. He really liked his swordfish, but wasn't crazy about the risotto. I tried some of his swordfish and found it to be seasoned and fresh. The risotto left more to be desired. It actually tasted like rice, corn, and beans more than a risotto. We thought our dining experience at Bagatelle deserved a solid 4 stars. We left off a star because there was absolutely no mention of us celebrating our honeymoon at Bagetelle. I think it is good business to acknowledge important life events when parties choose to celebrate those events at your establishment. After all, I imagine part of being a successful business involves forging relationships and celebrating with your customers. You guys have the good food part of your business down pat. For a bunch of years we enjoyed breakfast here and I would love to say that this one dish is the best and I recommend it but to be honest, I love so many of the dishes. The restaurant is right on Duval Street in an old house made into a restaurant and I loved that you can sit outside overlooking Duval Street so you can people watch which is my favorite thing on Duval Street. For a long time we had a couple of favorite places for Happy Hour around the island but some of my favorites changed over the years and we decided to find new Happy Hours. We noticed during breakfast that Bagatelle does Happy Hour so we decided to try it out a couple days later even though our service was not very good at breakfast. In the past we never had bad service. We came for happy hour on our last night in town and the food dishes we tried we're all pretty good but just like breakfast the service was bad. The tacos and brussel sprouts were awesome and the lobster macaroni and cheese was pretty good too. Our server was ice cold; it felt like he had no interest in serving happy hour and we tried to spark any kind of being nice but he wasn't. We asked what happy hour dishes and drinks were popular and he said he doesn't know what we like. He even came by to remove plates but he wasn't even paying attention to what he was doing and he walked away with the skillet with a bunch of the brussel sprouts still there. First of all, I called the week prior and spoke to the day manager about the occasion and explained that a cake would be delivered and what I wanted for the setup of the cake (I wanted a table next to ours with the cake on it, so the couple saw it right away). When I arrived, I spoke to the host and asked her to show me our table. She pointed to it, and I asked about the cake + extra table to hold the cake as I had discussed with someone. She had to call the manager, and I had to ask him once more for what I wanted, which at first didn't feel like he wanted to do, but ultimately did. When the groom got there, and we were going to sit, the waiter said, 'so we close at 10, so let's get the food and drinks in before the kitchen closes' my immediate reply was, 'it's 9:59'... You might think being the only guest at a restaurant is nice, but it's truly not. We couldn't even sit upstairs, which was agreed on during the initial call, because it was closed. We had dinner in 20 minutes. I didn't even order a drink because I knew I sip my drinks, and it wouldn't finish it with how rushed it all was. It was annoying that I could make reservations for 9:45 pm, and they closed at 10! Thankfully the waiter was nice, but it was an awkward dinner feeling rushed and having the food come out immediately after the other. The food from the other guests was just 'okay.' We ordered the Brussel sprouts, bbq shrimp, lobster mac and cheese as an entrée, and my fiancé got a fish dish. Everyone liked their food just fine, but no one was impressed. I'm a vegetarian, so I got the risotto primavera from the side dishes part of the menu, and it was really mushy. But I didn't expect much for my dish due to my dietary restriction. We like to try one new (to us) well reviewed fine dining restaurant on each trip to Key West. This was a disappointment. The venue is very pretty and the service was good - but the food was uninspired. I had a special - the yellowtail snapper with a sauce that was said to include lobster, shrimp and scallop. The amount of snapper was more than was needed - I had to wonder if they had an abundance of snapper and so that was the reason for the special. It was fine, not as flaky as it should have been but fine. The sauce was salty but other than that tasteless. There were small bits of something in the sauce but there was nothing I could identify as lobster, shrimp or scallop - more a potato texture. The sides were also not memorable. My husband had the filet - which was cooked perfectly to medium rare - but all restaurants of this supposed caliber should be able to do that. In a lesser restaurant I might have given 3 stars but this food far underperformed, given my expectations and the cost. We will not recommend or return. Also there are some reviews here that mention complimentary bread - that did not happen for us - possibly a change but the review is dated 2/2/2025 so.... read more

Oh Bagatelle, how I miss your salad. Who says that? No one misses salads. But theirs was incredible. We visited Key West in November. We had their salad (cant recall the name) with blueberry dressing. We tried their drinks, lobster mac and cheese, and other delicious appetizers. Lobster Mac and Cheese was great, but it had shells in it which were a bit annoying to take out. Wouldn't recommend you feeding your kids this since the shells were pretty sharp. The ambience felt super southern and coastal, semi-outdoorsy with a fresh breeze to alleviate the Florida heat. It felt like you were at your favorite aunt's Florida summer home (none of my aunts have summer homes). The service was excellent and well, make reservations in advance during dinner hours. We came here on a whim for our splurge dinner night in Key West. Wow. That's the word that comes to mind. We went all out and I started with a blueberry-mulled mixed drink. So yummy! For the appetizer we went with the lobster macaroni and I am already planning our reservation here so I can have this as my main course. Huge chunks of lobster, melted cheese and the noodles were perfectly cooked. I ordered the Ahi Tuna and my husband ordered the Filet Mignon. The tuna was medium rare and served with chilled udon noodles. I was blown away by the tuna. I was skeptical about the chilled noodles but they paired so well! The filet mignon is one of the best pieces of meat I've ever tasted! The potatoes and glaze were also amazing. We were too full for dessert but will try next time! Oh and how could I forget! As others have mentioned in previous reviews, this seems like worse establishment late at night. We dropped by earlier in the day and was told we need reservations to eat there. Hostess was somewhat rude during the interaction (barely looked at us), but we made reservations nonetheless for later in the evening at 9:45 pm. We arrived around 10 minutes late, which was our bad for slightly misjudging walking time, but it was well within the 15 minute grace period noted in the reservation. When we showed up the hostess/waitress told us we should have been there at our reservation time exactly and that we now have 3 minutes to order since they need to close their kitchen. Why even have a reservation slot within 15 minutes of your kitchen closing? What if diners want to order appetizers? We ended up just ordering only dessert and drinks and leaving as soon as possible, because she made us uncomfortable about ordering from the kitchen. Throughout the less than 30 minute quick meal, our waitress was rude and did the absolute minimum of service/speaking required. She also said they couldn't make any drinks not on the special cocktail list, even really simple ones. Dessert was only okay. The check was handed to our table and dropped off without any acknowledgement at all. Honestly, whole experience was less than pleasant, and we should have just left when it was clear they didn't really want more customers that evening. Seems like service/food is better based on other reviews if you come for brunch or around dinner time. Would avoid their later reservations based on our experience, since the food/drinks are not worth being made to feel like you shouldn't be there at all. read more

We came here for brunch. We didn't have a reservation, but it didn't look packed. We were able to be seated upstairs right away. The restaurant is in an older styled house which looks very rustic. Everyone was sitting outside, but there were inside seating if the heat is getting to you. Luckily, there was a lot of shade outside. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. She was very sweet and put on a happy face. This is especially impressive considering she was the only waitress taking care of all the tables upstairs. I ordered the coffee to start. I have to say, the coffee in Key West all round has been some of the best I have ever had. This was no exception. The coffee is robust and flavorful. For my meal, I got the corned beef hash. It was the best corned beef hash I have ever had. They add so much corn beef, you don't feel jipped at all. The corn beef was salty and rich. This was only enhanced by the egg yolk which was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the southern benedict. Absolutely delicious! Once again, this was very rich and flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the pork was nice and tender. The cornbread was an interesting choice in place of an english muffin. So, so good! I was not only charged for 2 full priced drinks for one drink (a double), I was also charged for extra food items I did not order.
