I finally made it to Bae Bae's kitchen! I love the idea of Korean fast food. It's yummy and healthy. First of all, the decor is so cute! They have a cactus that's like 7 feet tall! My friend and I came Friday night around 7:30pm, and there were plenty of tables. We stayed till well past their closing time, but they didn't kick us out. The staff was friendly and helpful. I loved my bulgogi and bean sprouts. The taro milk tea was meh. The powder just wasn't mixed well and I could feel the granular texture. The tapioca was good though. Such a cute location with great drinks and wonderful food. I got the jap chae and I loved that you could pick from a number of different proteins. I picked Korean fried chicken with spicy sesame sauce. Also selected the cucumber kimchi as my side. The KFC was extra crispy and the jap chae was excellent. Everything had great flavor. Even the salad was good with a little kick in the dressing. As for the drink it was a plum soju cocktail. Loved it. It went very well with my food. It looked great, but the hostess/waitress was so rude to my party that we couldn't fathom staying and paying for bad customer service, so we left before we got a chance to order. Oh my, what a great place, from service to food. The atmosphere is very relaxed, nothing special, but as soon as you see the food coming out and the menu, you realize this establishment is different from most of the restaurants in Pittsburgh. I was in town for a conference and arrived right around peak time for lunch. Grabbed a table once it became available. It's a build your bowl kind of situation and you get to pick carb+protein+sides or a special that has fixed choices. I originally wanted to get the rice but changed to stir-fried glass noodles because it looked good when in line for ordering. So glass noodles + fried chicken (breast) + one banchan was my order. My friend got bulgogi and the rest was the same. The glass noodles could use a bit more salt when eaten on its own but it was not bland. There's salad that came with the carb but the salad leaves (kinda like spring mix) were not dressed. The fried chicken came in two big pieces, breaded and fried just right. It was not dry and well-seasoned. I picked spicy mayo as the dipping sauce and it was alright. The radish banchan was on the sweet side and tasted bright and crunchy. My go to place for Korean food! I ordered spicy sesame tofu stir fry. It came with jap chae noodles, salad and kimchi. I also ordered garlic cheese wontons. The food was delicious, flavourful and healthy The portion size was big. I shared it with my husband. The menu offers a build your own korean combo meals with lots of vegetarian and protein options. The cashier was very friendly and gave us good suggestions! They serve in paper boxes. It's a quick grab n go setting with their packaging of meals. Very eco friendly! Pricing of all the food and drinks were pretty reasonable according to me. I like the interiors for its simplicity. Bae bae kitchen is in downtown so parking will always be a pain, specially on weekends or game nights. But this shouldn't stop you from trying out the place. This has become our comfort food place. Really delicious food + unique aesthetic = 5 stars in my book! Bae Bae's uses a build-your-own-box concept. I chose the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) + stir-fried glass noodles with veggies + seaweed salad side. It also came with a wasabi sauce on the side that I did without since I'm not a fan of wasabi in general. The total was ~$15, which was perfectly fair for the portions provided. The two slices of KFC were thick and crispy. The noodles had a nice flavor and were topped with some sesame seeds. The side of seaweed salad, which was the size of a small condiment container, was surprisingly refreshing and meshed well with the other components. When I worked downtown, my colleague and I went to Bae Bae's every few weeks for a treat. We loved it there because they're always nice and the food is always delicious. I miss that working from home. However, my family and I ordered takeout and brought it home a few weeks ago. It was just as good. I've had the fried chicken a few times and it's very good. However, the bulgogi is my absolute favorite and I find it hard to eat anything else there. The noodles are always good with it. The beef is so flavorful, tender and absolutely delicious. I was excited to finally try this food. I think we may have not ordered the right thing, but it was fresh. I'd like to try more options on their menu, I just wasn't amazed but it wasn't a waste of money. The website makes it out to be this "whole food" experience, hand-crafted and almost farm-to-table. That's a positive, and we really like to see that kind of approach to operating a business. The clientele is a little young. It's obviously geared toward Point Park College. Nice nature-focused garden-like atmosphere, even though it is in the city (downtown Pittsburgh). Whoever took my wife's take-out order was a little snooty. It may have been the owner's wife. Perhaps it was a rough day with the kids. We can forgive this. Things get hectic. We want to make sure though if you are reading this review, that you get the truthful picture. Regardless, I do recommend Bae Bae's and will have to return to try some other items. They did reach out after I wrote this review offering their hopes to make it right. Officially a must whenever I'm in Pittsburgh. Located somewhere downtown... I visited each time between 5-6pm...There wasn't a lot of traffic and there's street parking in front but a block away from a well lit parking lot. Of all the places i tried to go to this place was one the ones that was accessible driving. It's easy to pass by because you'd think it's a floral shop if you happen to peek at the windows but through the greenery is something yummy. What a gem! I love the aesthetics but the food was superb. My first visit was with a coworker and we ordered just about everything. We had wings, bulgogi, dumplings, Korean hotdog, and you can't have Korean without complimentary sides. The cashiers were nice and gave us some good suggestions. We literally enjoyed it all. I have definitely become addicted to Bae Bae's over the past couple of years and ordered takeout many times. I still love their food (the plum sauce is unreal - I am so happy they sell bottles of it now!), but it has gotten so expensive recently. They updated their ordering system so that you can no longer order the japchae as your side in the CYO plate. It used to be an additional charge, but now if you want japchae instead of rice, you have to order everything separately, so it gets so expensive so quickly. I will always be a loyal customer, but I cannot afford to keep up with these prices unfortunately! read more

I have heard so many wonderful things about the food at Bae Bae's kitchen, have seen it on so many lists of places to eat in Pittsburgh, and even got the chance to attend the Yelp Elite event that was hosted here when they got the liquor license, but I this was the first time I had ever eaten here! The staff was incredibly friendly, and gave some great suggestions. My brother and I started with the pork dumpling which were phenomenal: super tasty, thin, and served with a delicious dipping sauce. Per with waitress' suggestion, I went with the fire chicken plate with radish kimchi on the side and it was so good! If I wasn't in public, I would have been licking the bowl! Do be warned, it definitely does have a little kick to it so if you don't like spice, I would avoid this. My brother got the Korean Fried Chicken plate with crab salad on the side, and I didn't even get to try it because it was all gone! First off the service was okay, nothing great or bad.... the atmosphere and decor were nice as well. My rating strictly is towards the food. This was barely Korean food and was more like a asian fusion and not traditional. If you are looking for traditional Korean food this is not it. KIMCHI was a side dish! That should automatically be included no matter what, I shouldn't have to choose it as one of my 2 sides of choice. Then it came out in a super tiny amount...the same amount you'd expect to get for free. Also, the Korean fried chicken was not Korean fried chicken! It was chicken katsu, with sauce on the side! I got the beef bulgogi with the salad and Japchae noodles. My +1 got the bibimbap with beef. Both were really good. The beef was delicious, well seasoned and tender. The japchae was cooked well and the salad was refreshingly light yet tasty. You get to choose which banchan/sides you get with your bibimbap, and they didn't disappoint. If you are looking at a nice place to sit down at eat while also keeping your budget in mind, this is NOT the place to go to. Bae Bae's Kitchen was somewhere we wanted to go to for their garlic cheese wontons, but like half of their menu, it was out of stock. Over half their menu was "out of stock" leaving my party with a rather small selection of food choices to be had. After only ordering two items off the menu and having enough, we tabbed out and paid our bill. To our surprise, we found there was a MANDATORY 18% gratuity charge that was not stated or disclaimed anywhere prior to ordering our food. Upon asking, we were informed that the gratuity was for the servers, who did not do anything spectacular. All that was done was bring us our food, while a website handled the food orders and payment for our visit. An 18% mandatory tipis absolutely abismal due to the fact that the server did not go above or beyond, and even took their sweet time refilling our waters which sat empty for more than half of our dining experience. Not only was their service lackluster, and their mandatory tipping horrendous to say the least. Their food was rather expensive at around $14 per dish that could be made at home or found cheaper elsewhere. Will NEVER be going back to this place, and heavily advice steering clear to something else in the area. read more

Bae Bae's Kitchen is beautifully decorated, and there's small and adorable details everywhere. I kept finding small nooks which had some detail that was absolutely adorable. Once you arrive, you order at the counter and seat yourself. The seating in the back is cozy and there are so many amazing details in the back room! I got the KFC plate, which was pretty good for fusion Korean food. It was more like a katsu than most KFC I've had, and it's not as juicy as Green Pepper or Chicken and Bubbly. This is most likely because it's boneless meat instead of wings and drums. However, it is much easier to eat! The KFC was well seasoned, and the honey wasabi sauce was delicious. There was just enough wasabi to be tasty without making you breathe fire from your nostrils. The sides of the noodle and salad were good compliments, and the KFC plate certainly made you full! I also had their bubble tea, which was good and very generic. Certainly nothing to write home about, but adequate for its price. If you're downtown and looking for a quick fried chicken bite with an Asian twist, Bae Bae's Kitchen is the perfect place for you. Have you ever loved a food so much that you've wanted to die? That's this place for me. I would get engaged here, married here, and die here. Lay me to rest out back. I'm not even the biggest Asian/Korean style food fan and they've converted me! But in all seriousness, what a rootin' tootin' fantastic restaurant this is. I have gotten both the KFC (Korean fried chicken) and the spicy chicken. I love both, but the spicy chicken is my favorite. And when they tell you it's a 7/10 spicy, believe them! You may not think that at first, but by the next morning, you sure will. What a rush. And do not get me started on their tempura. I didn't even know what a tempura was before Bae Bae's and now I can never look back. Sweet potatoes? Love them. Lightly bread them and back them? LOVE THEM EVEN MORE. Toss some broccoli and mushrooms in there and you've got the holy trinity. They recently added quinoa to the white rice which made me nervous to change my habit, but gosh darn it they've done it again. They made me like QUINOA! The food was good, and the bubble tea drinks were refreshing. Price wise, I'd list it as a $$ experience. Very beautiful outdoor and indoor seating. Food is served in take out like containers and we were given small and flat bamboo/wooden utensils. I tried to post a video of the food, but it looks like only pics can be uploaded. The screenshot quality might be a little off because of that. While the mask mandate was lifted, they brought out masks and told us they still required us to wear them. Overall the food was good, the size of the indoor dining area was pretty small and they were very busy the day we went ( we ended up having to sit outside.
