everyone saying this place is overrated is lying. the food is really really good. not one bite i didn't enjoy. for starters, the whipped ricotta toast with truffle honey is insanely delicious. my mom who doesn't like truffle was licking her plate. the salad was HUGE. filet mignon meatballs and short rib pappardelle were very solid. and they brought over not one but two desserts on the house for my birthday. so so nice of them. our server was attentive but not pushy. he poured a generous glass of wine for my mom. if you can get over the idea of the restaurant being in a mall, this is the place for you! the restaurant itself is huge! shouldn't have trouble getting a reservation. the bar area feels cool. the bathrooms are really nice. the hostess also gave me a birthday card from Bad Roman - very cute! read more

I've been here for brunch a few times and enjoyed the window seating and the salads, but forgot to write a review, so I figured now would be a great time to do so, since I went here for dinner for the first time yesterday. We were seated right away. The bartender was very charismatic and the Aperol Spritz was delicious. We had the meatballs, ricotta bread, and both salads for apps. I always love the salads. They are a must for anyone who enjoys a light brunch or dinner. I'm not usually a fan of meatballs, but these were so soft and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. I had the salmon for an entree, and it was so delicious. Despite the restaurant being very busy, we never felt rushed and the waiter answered all of our questions thoroughly. My husband really enjoyed his Old Fashioned cocktail and Waygu Steak. I think we had every dessert on the menu...don't worry there were 5 of us. The Tirsmisu ice cream cake was my favorite because it wasn't too sweet and had a unique flavor. The chocolate tart was very decadent with a nice crumble bottom. Also, the lemon cheesecake looked aesthetically really lovely with graham cracker crumble at the bottom. It was in the shape of two lemons and reminded me of the popular fruit pastries that are viral on social media. I was too busy eating the tiramisu to take a bite, but everyone said it was lovely. ALSO, the women's bathroom has a lovely fountain by the entrance that is just stunning. We finished with the espresso martini, which tasted like it had chocolate in it and a nice foam top that wasn't overbearing, which I found both to be pleasantly surprising. Overall a really great experience. Had to write a review because this place is always one of my top places to go, and I just think the experience was wonderful. My first time to this hyped beast of an Italian restaurant and yeah, not great... Had the Bad Roman wedge, which was an enormous head of iceberg lettuce split in two, drowning in some kind of Russian dressing, with random bits of salami sparsely scattered about. A couple of tiny croutons hid out underneath that giant satellite dish of lettuce. Just really not appealing... Got the Bronzino which was like... $50? It was well-seasoned but small, dripping in butter, and served on a bed of some weird mashed accompaniment (not potatoes unfortunately... more like tangy pesto of some kind). The tiramisu ice cream cake got better with time--an enormous slice but not immediately edible because it's served still frozen. Service was uniformly poor, as multiple servers had to be asked multiple times for things like a napkin or fork. No communication between them either as several people came up to take the same water order. Usually this is a management issue, and it didn't seem to crowded. Ambiance was OK but not particularly comfortable nor were there nice views where we were sitting. So you can go here, or you can go somewhere with better prepared food with some attention to detail (like...can't one let the cake sit a minute so customers don't get a dessert that's still with frost on it?) and better service. There's a lot in the area that are far more up to snuff and significantly less expensive. PS the past three reviews must have been written by some friends of Namik! It is on the pricer side but it's a nicer place. We got the crudo and calamari for apps. I also got two oysters (super fresh). Crudo and calamari were great as well - would get again! I like the peppers and mini bacon bits in the calamari. Apps are on the smaller side so if you have a group of ppl you prob need to order a bit more. I got the chicken caesar salad (the chicken was grilled perfectly) and the sauce was light! Would def get this again. My husband got the chicken but I think it had too much lemon in the sauce for my taste - very flavorful though. Total for the meal was about ~170 with tip and tax. Presentation is on point and it's very trendy. It's a large spacious layout with nice views of the park (if you're sitting by the window). I've been wanting to try Bad Roman for so long and have seen so many posts on social media for it. It was super easy to get a reservation during lunch hours on Saturday, and the restaurant was pretty empty. I was blown away by the gorgeous interior design and just how large the restaurant is. Service was super friendly, and we didnt feel rushed throughout the meal at all. I loooooved the Calamari Casino, and it was my highlight of the meal. It was truly loaded in the best way possible. Cheese, crumbles of meat, chopped peperoncini, green onions, and a spicy aioli were all foreign (but welcomed) ingredients on a calamari for me. Also had the Garlic Babka as a starter, which I would pass on. The bread was dry and the flavors didn't stand out to me much. I had the Rock Shrimp pasta, which was good, but not too memorable. Unfortunately, everyone else at the table complained that their dishes were super salty and oily. We had the Lemon Cheesecake for dessert, which is beautiful! The presentation was beautiful with a chocolate shell that made the cheesecake resemble actual lemons, sitting on a bed of crust crumble. My second time at Bad Roman wasn't as good as my first. The food came out cold/barely warm, and the taste wasn't completely there. It seemed like they had a huge batch of food in the back pre-prepared and they heated it up before serving. The Crispy Calamari Casino ($23) was soggy and not crispy at all despite the name, the Roasted Garlic Babka ($8) was cold, and the Chicken Scarpariello Rigatoni ($32) with Hot Cherry Peppers and Sweet Sausage came out cold as well. This upscale and trendy restaurant has some great food with little modern twist that matches the New York City vibe. I really think this place pretty sexy with a twist of Rome feeling. I had to sit at the bar for a quick bite. The staff at the bar were friendly. There was one staff at the bar who wasn't attentive, so that takes away a star. He was pretty quick to provide service when two Caucasian girls sat the bar though. The food was great and drinks were pretty good as well. We dined here after a Broadway show on a Saturday night. We had reservations and waited less than 10 minutes to be seated. It was only 5:30 pm and it was quite busy. By the time we left there was a wait to get in. The place is beautifully decorated and the ambiance is nice with dim lighting and close seating which is great for date night or larger groups. The bar was super busy, the staff is attentive and always refilling your glass and clearing the table. Everything is à la carte. Got a late night weekend reservation here pretty last minute, and I'm so glad we did. This place was awesome, one of my favorite meals we had in the city. The vibes were great, it was a super fun and sorta funky spot! Our table wasn't ready when we got there so we started with drinks at the bar. Ordered a variety of cocktails, wine, and their racecar shots. Once seated we ordered family style so that we could try a good variety of the menu. We stated with the garlic babka, a Caesar salad, and tuna tartare - all of which were great! The garlic babka was so delicious, I wished we had ordered more because I couldn't get enough of it. For mains we got the filleto with cacio e pepe raviolo, short rib pappardelle, rock shrimp chitarra, and a side of fries. This ended up being more than enough food for the four of us. We probably could've gone without the fries for quantity, but they were really good so I'm glad I got to try them at least. The rock shrimp chitarra was the pasta winner for most of the table, but I preferred the short rib pappardelle. And then of course the filleto with cacio e pepe raviolo was fantastic, there's a reason so many people get it aside from it looking super cool. Had dinner here on Saturday as an early Valentine's Day celebration. I hate going out on Valentine's Day due to prefixed menus, crowds and overpricing. This reservation was booked months ago and I'm so glad, it was pretty packed for a Saturday night with many people trying to get a table. We arrived 5 mins before our 7:30pm reservation and were seated within 5 mins. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great! Our server was amazing wish i got his name. We ordered bread and a salad for the table it was so good esp the salad. We both ordered steaks my husband didn't leave any steak, i took some home to make space for dessert. Saw this location when we were exploring the mall and booked a reservation for it a few weeks later. We went to the restaurant early knowing we had reservations at 9:45pm but still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The system is faulty because I seen the host walk around for 5 minutes trying to find the people that made the reservation instead of just calling the phone #. The ambiance is intimate but a little loud because their tables are very close together. Babka($8)- Very tasty bread that was flaky and had a well balanced garlic flavor that brings everything together Arugula & Pear($19)- Very salty but was not from the pecorino Filet Mignon Meatballs($23)- Very moist that falls apart with compliment flavors from the cheese and tomato sauce Grilled Pork Chop($38)- Tender but a little salty, needed the escarole to balance everything out Lemon Tartuffi($19)- Great taste and presentation, it looked exactly like a lemon and tasted rich and creamy, the shredded graham also added a nice texture. A great stop for lunch!! Walked in and was able to get seated immediately. Love the decor and the vibe with great huge windows overlooking Columbus Circle. We started with the garlic babka which was a good starter. It was kind of annoying/difficult to cut, I wish it had come pre-cut or with a dip or something. It was yummy and flaky but cutting it got a lot of the flakiness all over the table. I got the short rib tagliatelle as my main and have no complaints! My wife and I went to a Christmas show at MSG. Where is there a good Italian place to eat after the show? We took the subway to the 59th stop and went into The Shops at Columbus Circle. Once inside, the restaurant is lively! This was the perfect spot to have a fun meal after any theatre performance. Behind the hostess stand, there is a statue of a pig. (Boar? I dunno) Those Romans back then knew how to party in excess. Well, let's get our Caligula on! I've been reading the menu and reviews beforehand, the Whipped Ricotta with black truffle honey was our starter. OMG. Sinful. This was an incredible dish and highly recommended. The drinks come and I'm surveying the patrons. I have a young family with their daughter next to us, a young couple on a date, I wouldn't say the crowd is trendy. My wife and I blend in well, there's room for everyone except at the bar. The bar area was slammed! If you see my perfectly made cocktail, it was very creative. I ordered the Tequila Granita. The flavored, shaved ice was a great touch. The star of the show, the Short Rib Pappardelle was a fantastic dish. Ribbons of freshly made pasta coated in a silky, Short Rib Ragu. It doesn't get any better. My wife ordered the pull apart eggplant dish. Just another creative and fun dish to order when you're dining at Bad Roman. Dessert? I came here for a business dinner and it fit the bill for a fun evening. I had the ciao, mama cocktail which is in the mojito-like family in that it's refreshing and not too sweet. I'd get this again. I also tried a sip of the Tequila Granita which was good but very alcohol-forward. Started with the tuna tartare (very seasoned), whipped ricotta (great with the honey, comes with focaccia) and garlic babka (flavor and texture were both good). I had the filet mignon with ravioli on top. It was too salty for me - I think even without the ravioli, the meat is well-seasoned. I had the gem salad as well, and it is very dressed up which isn't my personal preference. I had a couple of bites of Brussel sprouts which is very seasoned as well. The desserts were good too. The lemon cheesecake is light and beautiful and the tiramisu ice cream cake is flavorful and light as well. My friends and I wanted to have dinner for the holidays so we chose Bad Roman. I'm glad that we chose this spot because of the great service, atmosphere, and food. Different examples of the great service: we made reservations and they were running behind schedule with their tables. So because of that reason they treated us to drinks. They apologized and the front desk gave my friends prosecco and for myself a non-alcoholic wine. After we were seated the manager kept on apologizing to us and gave us the roasted Garlic babka on the house. I must say it was very tasty bread. We enjoyed every last bite of it. I would recommend it as a great appetizer to share with everyone at the table. They also gave us this salmon dish on the house that we didn't see on the menu as well. We were grateful for all of this. For ourselves we ordered the yellow tail crude, the lobster pasta for two, and the broccoli rabe. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu ice cream cake along with the lemon tartuffi. I must say the desserts were so delicious. The lemons looked like real fruits and I felt like we were in that show is it cake? Where they make things look like items that aren't cake, and you guess if it is. The menu was Italian fusion, definitely a modern take on what I know as classic Italian. I came here for dinner with a few friends on a weeknight around 7pm. This place was so busy and every table was full. Luckily, we made a reservation in advance. We got a handful of dishes to share. We started with their roasted garlic bakka bread, whipped ricotta with honey and truffle, eggplant pull a parm, and pepperoni cups + ranch. The garlic bread was fluffy and garlicky, it was nice but didn't blow me away. The ricotta was well whipped, again, it was good but didn't wow. The eggplant pull a parm was deep fried eggplant sticks with a tomato sauce on the side. The roni cups is literally crispy giant pepperonis dipped in ranch (this was my least favourite). For our mains, we shared the short rib pappardelle, steak with the cacio e peppe ravioli, fries and brussel sprouts. My favourite was the pappardelle. The ravioli was very rich and heavy. The fries were in a fun shape but lacked seasoning. The vibes of the place is so fun, and decor is awesome. The service was decent as well even though it was busy. It's a great spot for a night out. Our final meal while on this trip to NYC - Sunday night dinner with an 8:30 reservation. Located on the 3rd floor of the Deutsche Shoppes Building (never knew this existed). We took an uber here and checked in around 8:23pm. Very loud place - music, lots of folks running around etc etc. has a new age 80s vibe with loud looking accents, faux neon accents and vibrant pinks and oranges and reds as part of the color palette. Having only had high tea at 1pm - I was very hungry so I was in my bag ordering- starting with the pepperoni cups and ranch, the burrata and straccitella, and a Caesar salad. I also got an old fashioned and was told of a winter version called the Home Alone. I said sure - it was fine, didn't detect much of a flavor difference but that was probably a good thing bc an old fashioned doesn't need to be tweaked by anything other than a couple extra dark cherries. The caprese was INCREDIBLE - large slices of tomato, cheese and accents of pistachio, pickles onions and cherry peppers. Wow. So so so very good. The Caesar salad was GREAT too - and it would have to be for me to comment on it - heavy on the dressing, great flavor leveling and plenty of it. The Ronis and Ranch were good - heartburn is fun - would like to have more ranch with the amount of cups this came with. GREAT START TO THE MEAL. For my entree I went with the penne Luongo which is a cacio e Pepe sauce over long uncut penne noodles. Unbeknownst to me, this also came with a freshly grated truffle finish at the table. I'm not much of a truffle guy - but I let him do his job before picking them off. I also asked for some table bread which was great and a small pull apart loaf. Warmed trout and great flavor to it with ribbons of flavor and seasoning inside. Dessert I went with the highly recommended lemon cheesecake - which comes as two lemons that are full of cheesecake sitting on top of a bed of sugared graham cracker crumbs. I really really liked the presentation, the cheesecake inside (no-bake) and the flavor of this. The lemon was great without overpowering. Our waiter - taller guy with glasses was great. The ambiance was exquisite. The food was just okay for the price point. The waitress recommended the spicy Caesar salad and the short rib pappardelle. They were both good, but I've had similar quality food at half the price. I also got the garlic bread which was extremely good, and the whiskey cocktail with a floater and a sinker, also good. So just know that you're paying primarily for the atmosphere and address. With that caveat in mind, I recommend the place. If you want a similar culinary vibe (whimsical Italian and handmade pasta) with better food and a cute but less grand ambiance at a comparable price point, I'd recommend Cafe Mars in Gowanus, Brooklyn instead. If you want a place with that grandiose Central Park South vibe, then Bad Roman choice. Service was good overall. They gave me a free dish at the end, a second dessert. It seemed like an odd choice for a free dish, I had already ordered a large dessert and didn't have room for a second one, and the free dish was tiramisu which was too much caffeine for me in the evening, so I didn't finish it. Normally I'm delighted by free dishes, but this one hit differently. Still, I appreciate the gesture. Reservations can be a bit difficult to get during peak hours, but as a solo diner around 10PM I got a a same-day reservation with several time slots to choose from. read more

Came here for lunch with my sister after a morning of shopping on a Friday. We had made a reservation and got seated quickly. The restaurant had a fair number of people but wasn't too crowded. The overall space was well designed and had a good vibe. The waiter was very attentive and came by quickly. We ordered the whipped ricotta for the table and it was great, it was a decent size and came with plenty of bread (usually with this kind of thing you run of the bread first). I ordered the Antipasto Chopped salad and added Pepper Seared Filet Mignon to it. I had made the mistake of not realizing that it came with salami and we were able to flag down the waiter to get that removed from my salad. As someone who is not necessarily familiar with antipasto I didn't know it always came with salami and olives and it was not written on the menu so I would not have known unless it was pointed out to me. I understand that it may be widely understood but I'm not a fan of leaving out ingredients to something on menus, you can't assume that someone will know based on the name. Aside from the salami concern, the salad itself was great, the addition of the filet mignon was the recommendation of the waiter and honestly it was amazing with the dressing. Overall I enjoyed my meal. My sister ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle, we were told this was an overall favorite. It was fine, she enjoyed it but it wasn't anything special. I came here the other night to catch up with a friend, and had made reservations a few days in advance (though I don't think it's a hard reservation to get anymore). We were seated immediately, and had a table towards the back of the restaurant which was much quieter than the front. Our server was attentive and gave good suggestions on the menu. We ended up ordering the garlic babka, and then sharing the arugula and pears salad and the kale mafaldine. The garlic babka was really good with a nice texture and the salad was delicious. I wasn't crazy about the kale pasta, but overall nothing blew me away. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate tart and olive oil gelato, and that was actually really delicious. We ordered the bread service to start and the presentation is quite impressive as they bring out honey and ladle it over the butter. The rest of the meal was very good. Portions are quite hearty so we shared the meatballs and also the short rib pasta. Salmon was also quite tasty. This is a great spot if you are with a large group and want the wow factor of NYC. It is a large space so should be a fairly easy one to get a reservation. To me it just feels like an elevated Chain restaurant. Visited here for lunch with my husband and son and had such a lovely time!! We came on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was pretty empty. The servers were so so sweet and accommodating of my little one - one of the bartenders actually gave him a little hot wheels (must be part of one of their specialty drinks!) and my son was so so excited. The food we tried was absolutely incredible, while the roni cups were good for a one time try, the real star of the show for me was the babka - I was blown blown away by how delicious and soft it was!!! The chicken scarpiello pasta was INCREDIBLE - I was on the fence about getting it and had no regrets once I had my first bite. I don't think we had a bad bite while we were there - even the kids chicken fingers may or may not have mostly been eaten by me and my husband! The only reason we trekked to Columbus Circle and came here was to spend our Chase Sapphire Preferred's $75 award. I remember back in 2022/2023 when Bad Roman was on everyone's TikTok feed, which honestly should have been a prime indication of the overhypedness of this place. Bad Roman had very cool vibes and I could see it being a great happy hour spot. I had a reservation for one but opted to sit at the bar so I didn't take away from others with larger parties. I skipped drinks but ordered the Filetto steak with the Cacio e pepe ravioli on top. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a nice crisp outside. The ravioli was al dente and generously filled with sauce. The sauce did pair well with the steak and it was a good portion size. But $83 after tip for just a filet with no sides was quite outlandish. I don't think I'd order it again bc I can get a similar steak for $50 elsewhere and it's just as good. But no complaints besides that. Would be good for a fancy business dinner. And both bartenders were great! read more

Being a visitor here we weren't so familiar with this area/section. So this place is inside a shopping center and it's upstairs in the corner left. It's super cute and makes me feel like let's brunch! This is definitely somewhere you would throw a bridal shower or big bday brunch for sure. The vibes, the ambience, the food...I love it. It's so beautiful inside and makes me feel happy. We ordered some bread with whipped ricotta with black truffle honey butter and they come and pour fresh honey over the butter for you. Next was some dressed big rock oysters, spicy gem Caesar which was piled with Parmesan cheese (my fav), Rock Shrimp Chitarra (Baby Sungolds, Calabrian Chili) which was really flavorful, and black truffle Cacio e Pepe with pappardelle pasta. This was all for two people. My friend the Birthday girl picked this place and I told her pick whatever you want to eat lol oh of course the Bloody Marys and the dirty martinis made an appearance as usual lol Our bartender was our server since they were supposed to close to prep for dinner we sat at the bar top seats but it was still comfy. We thought he wasn't so nice at first but then he was probably just busy. He came around and was actually very kind and attentive. He even gave us directions to next destination which was so helpful. Do I still believe the restaurant is overly hyped: yes. Did I try more menu items and enjoy them: yes. Cocktails on menu are subpar. Portion sizes are small. GET THE MEATBALLS! Roasted Garlic Babka is very good. A light garlic bread essentially. Spicy Gem Caesar salad isn't bad. Roni Cups & Ranch is actually worth the hype. Crispy Calamari Casino does have cheese and sauce on it. But not bad. Peekytoe Crab Luigi was my favorite. A thin wafer covers a crab avocado dip. Rock Shrimp Chitarra pasta had a good flavor. 7/10 DO NOT ORDER THE CACIO PEPE RAVIOLI. It's NOT GOOD. I was advised to order it with my filet. The texture was off putting. It ruined the steak. No place like Bad Roman! This beautifully decorated place is my favorite for a night out with friends because it's right in front of Central Park. The location is genius because you would think it would be more crowded but I guess people don't know how great it is or that it's even there. Everything from the lights, the decor and the spectacular view is a scene you must enjoy. I've been here a couple of times and what I love most is that it is never the same experience. This past time the menu changed so I was able to enjoy new pasta with a refreshing desert. I wish I knew my servers name because he was supper attentive, friendly and made me want to return ASAP. Beautiful space with great service. I got most of their popular dishes and the only one I would get again is the lemon cheesecake dessert. It was done beautifully. They also gave a complimentary sorbet dessert which was also delicious. I was excited about the filet mignon cacio e Pepe ravioli but the steak was overly salted. One of those pretty vibey places that was all over Instagram a year ago. Honestly had pretty low expectations given that a lot of the reviews weren't that great. Unfortunately my experience dining here lived up to its name ... - Spicy gem caesar: not spicy at all, honestly barely had any flavor - Garlic babka: nice bread but only a hint of garlic so personally would preferred more of that - Filet Mignon with Cacio e Pepe ravioli: we asked for medium rare but instead got rare - this is the first time I've ever had to send a dish back into the kitchen. Shoutout to the staff who comped and got us a new steak but even that was still off - the outside was very tough to chew and overcooked while the inside was fine.
