Visiting Rockefeller Center for the first time over two decades, we stopped to have a drink in the restaurant on the north side of the Central Plaza for old times sake. Being June, the Rockefeller Center ice rink was replaced by outdoor dining. Jupiter had tables and umbrellas here in addition indoor seating. We opted to take a table in the bar area, which was pleasant on a hot afternoon. The drinks -- Negroni and Manhattan -- were very good but quite expensive, over $90 including sales tax and tip. A came to Jupiter for dinner on Thursday with my work department. We were a party of 6 and were seated in a lovely nook at the back of the room. The service was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed each of our meals. My limoncello spritz cocktail was very refreshing. For starters, we had the fried zucchini and rosemary focaccia. Both were excellent! For my entree, I had the papperadelle with beef ragu and it was very enjoyable. The table ordered sides of potatoes, carrots and asparagus which were all wonderfully prepared and flavored. All in all, I would love to return to Jupiter as it is lovely place to share a delicious meal. read more

Wow, who could imagine a worse experience while in NYC? To set the stage: We had a tour of 30 Rock and purchased a Prix Fixe Menu at Jupiter via the 30 Rock Tour booking. We were told we'd get an OpenTable to pick the time of our dinner, that didn't happen. We decided to head over to Jupiter to work out a time for our dinner well in advance. The manager who was working in the morning said, come by anytime after 8pm, which worked great as we had the 30 Rock Tour and pictures of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree until about that time. We arrived around 8:30, the matradee asked for our reservation and we explained the situation - he made several physical gestures that implied to both my wife and I that this was an issue. After some "drama" he said how many. I said the two of us. He sat us in the mezzanine "outside" area, it's actually inside but outside of the main resturant on the mezzanine. Before we got comfortable we noticed that it was very chilly, we asked the matradee if we could please be moved. Our waiter came over and filled our water glasses, we mentioned that we were trying to get moved - just to give him a heads-up. We sat... and sat... and sat and finally we asked the waiter if we were going to be moved or would we be staying here - he said, doesn't look like you're moving. The matradee NEVER came and explained that they didn't have any inside seating and we couldn't move, he just ignored our request. The waiter was nice, the Prix Fixe menu was shared with us, one of us ordered a glass of wine and then we ordered our meals, he informed us that one of the deserts was not available, which as you'd guess was the one we had both wanted. We sat, and sat, and sat... with our coats (two layes of puffies), on and waited. The first course looked very nice/good but was rather bland without much flavor. The table next to us said, as they drank there red wine, that they've never experienced chilled red wine. They also had coats and scarves on. The apps looked very good but had little flavor. The bruschetta bread was so hard I could hardly cut it. The Caesar, again, looked good however it had little flavor. Our main course, pasta's, were similar - presentation looked good but neither had much flavor and sadly my noodles were not cooked long enough and were extremely tough. Did I mention, we sat, and sat, and sat? Then when the dessert did come we were so cold from sitting in this ice box that we didn't try more than a bite. It is really a shame that the matradee couldn't simply have said we have no other place at this time for you inside and let us make a decission maybe come back when it wasn't as busy instead he simply ignored the request. read more

This is a great spot to check out for a light lunch. On a nice day you can enjoy their outdoor patio in Rockefeller center. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of dishes here. Had a reservation at 12:45 didn't get seated till 1:15.... They did add prosciutto to a panini for us. The food is very good. Loved the beef papardelle. The zucchini frites and arancini were delicious too. It's located in Rockefeller center and it's Christmas time so I get that it's crazy but they are understaffed I guess. I mean our server was nice but we asked for Diet Coke twice and they came finally at the end of the meal It's very loud but again this is a tourist spot and it's lunch time. We ate at Jupiter the week of the tree lighting. The restaurant is located across from the ice rink inside Rockefellar Center. The location is a fun one! However, I don't recommend eating there during such a busy time. The service was VERY slow. It wasn't the fault of the two person staffed bar. They had a full bar plus a full service bar that seemed endless. The hostess walked by at around 9:15 pm and told our server they were seating reservations until 10:00 pm. Jupiter was going off-- literally! They needed help. I wanted to get in there and run some drinks. The best part of the meal was the 30 Rock cake. We did stay for cake since we'd invested quite a bit of time waiting for that first round of drinks. After we received drinks, our burrata showed up without bread. We ordered bread. They were out of bread by 8:30 pm (maybe sooner). We opted to save the cheese to enjoy with our meal. The Agnoli, Spiedini di Pollo, and Rigatoni came out together. We enjoyed each dish -- however, the chicken was a bit charred towards the end of the kabob. Overall, Jupiter's food wasn't bad but the service was not ideal. Go to Jupiter on a day when they aren't as crowded and be sure to order the 30 Rock Cake! The best in town! read more

We got a table on the terrace area with the hope of overlooking the ice skating like the old Rock Center Cafe. The Rock Center Cafe was directly next to the glass with tables overlooking the skaters. The perfect environment for a special holiday meal. I saw they had reservations for spots on the indoor terrace next to the rink and was excited to go. Unfortunately, Jupiter's tables are caddy corner from the rink and behind a railing that is at least 15 or 20 ft away. In the space between the terrace and restaurant, other visitors stand to observe the skaters, blocking the view most of the time. Jupiter's terrace has significantly less ambience than the interior of the restaurant, which is behind a curtained glass window. It was also pretty cold on the terrace. The food was ok, but I was disappointed with experience overall. I wish the Rock Center Cafe was still there. It's not a bad restaurant, but I hoping for the classic Rockefeller dining experience -in my opinion this isn't it. read more

Was at Rockefeller Center enjoying a nice Spring day in the late afternoon, good to see so many people enjoying the day. I had walked by the Restaurant before but never dined there, asked the hostess about the possibility of dining outdoors, after a short wait, we were seated outside by the skating rink. Very relaxed place with umbrellas covering most of the table areas. This Italian restaurant has a very nice menu, shared a Caesar salad which was a great decision, the dressing was more than delicious, taste of anchovies and fresh mayonnaise was delightful on the little gem lettuce leaves. Ordered the linguine with clams, very good, but could have been a little more generous with the clams. The other entree was the hanger steak, nicely seasoned and served medium rare. Skip the appetizers.. the focaccia was cold and dry, and there were still bits of connective tissue in the crudo that could have been cut off. No concern for their customers. They rejected my specific reservation request made two months in advance because they had a chance to make an extra $65 with a ticketed event. I would have gladly paid the $65 but did nothing to reach out to me to indicate they had changed to ticketing until 2 hours before my reservation!!! Claimed they didn't control the Rock Center marketing but they clearly were able to see my reservation and the request the entire two months. I rearranged my entire schedule to accommodate this reservation so I could take my daughter there for a mother/daughter day out including cancelling a doctor's appointment and they called me the day of the reservation so too late to get another reservation (ticketed or otherwise, there or otherwise) or keep my doctor appointment, or make other plans. Offered no attempt to say their policy would be looked at in the future. Nothing that indicated this was inappropriate and poor customer service at all. Disgusting money first customer last policy. Lovely pasta! We walked in for 2 on a Sunday night. We started with the tomato focaccia and cocktails, then shared the pappardelle with ragu and chicken skewers with the polenta fries. Definitely get a pasta. The 3 sauces with the chicken and polenta were all so tasty. We shared the melon sorbet with sparkling wine. I wish I could try all of the starters and sides next time. The cocktails are fun and interesting. I had a frozen one :) Friendly, quick service. The space is beautifully designed. We sat in a booth. I didn't realize this was the Jupiter with the Pasta Water candle collaboration with DS & Durga. Get the candle! Wonderful Italian place to eat around 30 Rock. TLDR not worth it Jupiter was fine. The food was average and the service was also avg. The carrot dish we got i think was given to the table next to us who notified the server ( when they came back) that it was not their order. The server took it away and (pretty sure) five mins later brought US the dish they had almost served the other table. They were not great. The rabbit pasta dish was good but really small. The steak was so mid and small and expensive. The food was good ish but i don't think i'll be going back or recommending this restaurant. The ambiance IS really cute and I liked my wine a lot. In fact, we couldn't finish it. The restaurant has a nice feel. If you get a table "outside" the restaurant you might have a view of Rockefeller Plaza. Very nicely presented food. Altho table cloths instead of the bare wooden tables would be nice given the $$$ and the fact it's not nice to have ones elbows dipped in whatever is on the table. And the Agnoli Di Coniglio was appetizer-sized and kind of gamey. We were seated without any menus for nearly 10 min, and when we tried asking for them, the staff person told us our server would be by at some point with them. Really? Isn't it more customary for the host/hostess to provide the menus so diners have something to look at as soon as they're seated? Amazing location, but give yourself an extra 20 minutes to get there. You have to go down the elevator off 50th street to get down to the restaurant. I can imagine in the summer this is a hot spot with lovely views. We came at Christmas and while we were able to see the skaters through the window, the ambiance was a bit low light, with lots of kitchen sounds from the open air kitchen area right off the dining room. If you can, I would sit outside the restaurant itself. I got some incredible ragu and my husband got the bolognaise, both great. Our waiter was busy so we didn't get much face time- and were told we had to put in a full order up front so be prepared. I came here for dinner with a friend recently and had a lovely time. Being a fan of King, I was very excited to finally try Jupiter. The interior is modern and stylish with dramatic lighting. It was pretty lively and buzzing when we got there. I loved the ambiance for date night, but it can also get pretty loud in there. We both got the Jupiter Vesper, which was clean, pretty strong, and had a cool minimal look. We started with the fried artichokes, which were pretty solid. Then we shared the Alfabeto in Brodo and the Casarecce a la Genovese. The pasta was yummy, but I wish we had ordered something else instead of the Brodo, which was my bad, lol... I got it confused with a photo of some other dish I had seen beforehand. The Vitello alla Milanese was a highlight and very filling. For dessert, we ordered the Italian Mess, which was absolutely perfect. Our server was super sweet and brought us the Chocolate Sorbet, too. This place is not cheap but I decided to try it since the cheaper option was unavailable. The linguine with clams was a small portion. I think there were only 6 clams and the linguine was the same amount in an instant ramen bowl. It was unimpressive but heavy on the pepper. The 30 Rock Cake was just an oversized chocolate cake. It tasted just like any chocolate cake that you can get anywhere. This place is for people who do not mind high prices and are fine with small portions. There is not a lot to be desired at Jupiter. Why it was so bad... 1. The mozzarella di bufala was a dish that made no sense. Mashed chickpeas? That roasted vegetable on it did not pair well at all. The mozz was low grade. 2. The bruschetta with crab was not good. The crab had no taste and the dish didn't work well at all. 3. The spaghetti con bottarga was probably the worst tasting pasta I've eaten my entire life. A creamy mess that was sour. 4. The risotto flavor was ok but it the dish wasn't well balanced. It was definitely not worth $62. 5. The rabbit ravioli had bones in it. Like seriously? 6. The prices were ridiculous. A coke cost $6. The cocktails were $20. The pastas on average were $30. As some have mentioned, the "rinkside" area gets blocked from public walkway. I read some say it's too cold out there but we didn't think so. However we did sit inside as the public area gets loud. Much like the other recent additions, the food here is excellent and this is now definitely one of the best midtown lunch and dinner options. Start with the bread basket ($15) and get a lot of pasta, especially the Paccheri Verdi ($31). For dessert, get the Gelato Napolitano ($18). read more

I booked a lunch reservation at Jupiter one month in advance for my family and our "Christmas Day" in NYC. Approx. 10 minutes before my reservation time, the restaurant cancelled and said they had a gas leak. They didn't offer any replacement options, and just said "sorry". With only 10 minutes notice, I couldn't book a table at any of the other Rock Center restaurants. Jupiter should have called one of their neighbor restaurants to offer replacement reservations. Instead, they said "Go to Del Fresco's - I heard it's good there." Customer service doesn't exist at this establishment unfortunately. read more
