After a quick trip to Ocean City, my friend and I decided to have a casual bite to eat at this second-story burger bar. I really wanted to like this place because overall everything looked so cool, but there were so many things that just didn't sit right with me. We entered the restaurant with all of the hostesses turned away from us, and it took a minute for them to end their conversation & have one of them seat us at a table by the window. Strike 1. The server took a while to greet us and when she finally did, she had the WORST attitude which carried on throughout the meal. She was forgetful with our order and came back twice to make sure she put the order in correctly. I didn't mind her checking her accuracy, but she acted like it was our fault that she forgot what we ordered... What's funny is that she could've easily used the pen and writing pad she had at her disposal to avoid all this. She checked in on us once and that was fine because I couldn't even deal with the negative attitude. Strike 2. I ordered the "Bad Monkey for President" burger, which came with coleslaw, pulled BBQ pork, and slices of smoked Gouda all sandwiched between one of their freshly baked rolls that they make in-house daily. The burger patty was cooked to temperature, but was dry and flavorless. The coleslaw and the BBQ sauce from the pulled pork gave it a subtle sweetness that saved the dryness of the patty. It also seemed to be the only source of flavor since the patty wasn't seasoned well. I wasn't a fan of the roll, either. It was hard in some areas & dry too. Strike 3 and... I'm over it. The only thing that I actually really liked were the Parmesan truffle fries. I feel like they were so much better than the burger, sadly. 3 Star for now with room for improvement. I'll give this place a break because its labor day weekend and restaurants starting to open up more from Covid. However, the breakfast menu has good offerings but limited as everything is egg based. Also, the food took an unreasonably long time and was very cold. I expressed a food allergy to the server and he responded that due to the busy day there are no substitutions. We ordered a side of crispy bacon, but he brought regular soggy bacon. He clearly messed up because when we mentioned it he came right out with the right bacon. However it was cold by then because sitting. Overall fun little place, but try adding things to menu like breakfast burritos, or crepes or interesting veggie/vegan options not just filling plates with potatoes. read more

My family and I can here for food on vacation. The hostess greeted us and were told it would be an hour and 20 minute wait. We put our names down and came back to the hostess stand to check on our status after an hour. We encountered a different hostess. We told her our name and she said it would be another 45min to hour wait. We told the hostess we had been waiting. She told her the breakfast menu switched to lunch and we would have to wait again and there was no name on the list. Then the manager came down and told us the same story and they were the only restaurants open due to covid so we would have to wait. This was the worst experience I've ever had in Ocean City and would not recommend this restaurant. A good manager or owner would of apologized and even offered a refreshment for the inconvenience but he didn't care and we had to leave. read more

In OC, Maryland for a dance competition. Came to Bad Monkey as our first stop for lunch in OC after a day of dance. The waitress Sonny was extremely nice, the prices weren't bad at all. My nieces ordered the chicken tenders and fries and enjoyed them. My sister and I had the pulled Pork sandwich. The pork was a little fatty and the juices made the bread completely soggy. My favorite part was their breakfast potatoes, very flavorful, a little spicy but for those who like spicy food like myself the heat was perfect. My friend really enjoyed his chipped beef as well. We ate here a few years ago and were excited to come back, however it was disappointing this time. We were seated outside and we ordered the lump crab meat and provolone omelette which comes with a large slice of toast and home fries. The home fries were good just like i remember! The lump crab meat omelette was so fishy that it made me nauseous and i had to stop eating it. No excuse for crab to be fishy in Maryland with tons of customers. Definitely would not order that again. When we were in the parking lot we saw a staff member picking out some sort of plant from the curb in front of the highway and putting it in a glass to collect. it seems like it was some sort of garnish they put on their food (something that looked like basil) but it seemed gross if that was the case because all the pollution from the cars probably contaminates the plant..not sure if we will come back next time. read more

We stumbled on this place simply because a) we were hungry...almost hangry (hungry/angry), and b) the sign outside reading $5 Tito's bloody mary's really sold us. Upon entering, we were greeted nicely, and being a table of 9, we expected to wait and not sit together...but we were able to get a table after about 15 minutes, AND we were ALL able to sit together (minus one chair, so one of us stood through brunch). The bartender seemed a little overwhelmed and frustrated as I saw him mess up a woman's brunch order (but he comped it), and get flustered with the amount of drinks he was making. We sat down at a roomy table and ordered some drinks. When the waitress came back with our drinks, she only brought one and then took our drink orders again, almost like she blacked out through out our first order. When we got out check, we found out we were charged $5 for some bloody mary's, and $8 for some. We asked the waitress about this, she explained that after 1 they changed prices (from $5 to $8). We were closing out at 12:30, so this didn't make sense. She told us that it was the computers fault, and she did adjust them to all $5 but I wonder how many people are getting charged $8, when they should be $5. My 3 stars are for the drinks, and the atmosphere. The food was blahhhhhhhh, and unfortunately lunch wasn't served until 1. So it was breakfast, not brunch nor lunch. Honestly disappointed we couldn't get lunch at noon. As for the omelet, the cheese was not laid out evenly throughout it, so splitting it kinda sucked. The potatoes were cold. There were 2 small pieces of fruit on the plate. And the waitress promised us Monkey Bread because it was the best, and she came back with 5 pieces for 9 of us because they were all out. We had breakfast there recently. Had a $50 gift card from Xmas. It was just two of us and we each had an omelet and I opted for fresh fruit rather than potatoes. Only one of us had coffee and I only had water. We eat out for breakfast a lot and the average for us is between $18-$25. Well I thought we would get two breakfasts out of the gift card... WRONG! It was $40!! Most expensive breakfast in my life!! If money is no option, the food is good and they give you complimentary cinnamon monkey bread with the meal. They also have a super expensive gift shop downstairs. We can get same meal minus the monkey bread for under $20 at two of our favorite restaurants. read more

We came here for brunch, it's nice to see a new breakfast spot in town! The seating area is on the second story so you have some pretty cool views of Coastal Highway. Our server Cassidy was so sweet and chipper so early in the morning, that takes some serious talent! They had a full bar but only offered 2 "adult" drinks with brunch, but their bloody mary's with bacon and cucumber-infused Tito's vodka was incredible. The menu was a little small, not too much to choose from, but I ordered the asparagus and brie omelet and it was delicious! They use organic eggs and fresh fruit with their dishes so I was very happy about that. Apparently they are also a burger bar, so I definitely will return to check it out. Atmosphere- love the outdoor open area. Very clean, and hip/trendy in an ocean city restaurant. I like how you can sit on a couch while you wait to be seated. Service- great service, our waitress was attentive without being over bearing. (Although I have to say getting charged for extra bread is a little crazy but I'm a New York city girl) Food- crab dip- delicious without being over-salty. I honestly would recommend trying the dip both hot and when it cools off. My table all agreed it was better cold. My two girlfriends had the crab cake sandwich and truffle fries- both of them loved it! I had the Buffalo chicken cheese steak- so good I'm honestly shocked! However I would recommend getting the truffle fries instead of the chips- the truffle fries compliments the Buffalo chicken cheese steak in ways a potato chip couldn't imagine. We ate here for the first time and had a good experience. The wait was 45 minutes, which seemed long for late in the morning breakfast, but we distracted ourselves at the store downstairs as we waited. It was a pleasant day, cloudy, but comfortable and the entire side of the restaurant was open, which was nice. If it rained, we wouldn't have gotten wet, but a few tables would. The decor is bright and cheerful, and the the mood seemed upbeat. My only major complaint was how loud the music was. I liked the songs, but for breakfast time it was really loud. Our waitress was great, there very attentive without being annoying. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered cinnamonkey pancakes, Nutella French toast and creamy chipped beef on toast. All were very good, they didn't knock anyone out, but were entirely satisfactory. I think our favorite part was the monkey bread. As others have said, bring your appetite, the portions are huge, even the kids menu items. It's a little pricey, but that's not unusual in Ocean City. I think that if they opened a stand on the boardwalk and just served golf ball size monkey bread and drinks, they'd make a killing. read more

We were seated right away and a friendly waitress attended to us promptly. Tiny restaurant - deck you see from outside is the whole thing. The menu has a few appetizers, and long lists of subs, burgers, and sandwiches, plus a few salads. So there wasn't much variety as far as usual dinner entrees go. We ordered a summer shandy (can $3.50) and Pinot noir ($7). We both ordered a sub. You can choose a sub and add as many toppings as you want for free (except avocado/bacon). I had the buffalo chicken cheesesteak. Huge portion, came with a pickle and chips. My tolerance for spicy food is light to moderate, and it was pretty spicy! The sub roll was nicely seasoned. Overall really good, took half home. Here's the kicker: my boyfriend had the Cheesesteak Your Way and added all the available free toppings. Given, he ordered jalapeños and banana peppers, but there were WAY too many. He has a high spicy tolerance, but this was too much. The picture shows how many were added to just one half of the sandwich. Giving people what they pay for is good, but you need to have discretion for how many spicy things you add. Make sure to specify if you only want a few spicy toppings. Overall, it worked as a last resort of a place to eat, but was nothing special. Not good went a few days ago ordered truffle fries to start came out in about a minute they were cool and gross then ordered two of the group ordered different kinds of wings came out to quick to be freshly cooked were cold, ordered cheese steak was cold. Two of us went here for lunch around 1PM on a Thursday. Definitely not crowded. They have a downstairs "sandwich shop" which, the doors were wide open, but the guy said they were closed. We went upstairs, again not much direction, but one of the girls standing by the bar just said to pick a table and someone would be over. Luckily, right after we sat down a young girl came over, gave us menu's and asked us about drinks right away. Sunny was really nice and made pleasant conversation with us throughout our time there. I got one of their cocktails, a Coconut Crush. Couldn't really taste the alcohol but it tasted decent otherwise. I ordered a buffalo chicken cheesesteak which was awesome and the chips it came with were pretty good too. My boyfriend got The Clown burger, ordered it MR and it came out MW-W but he still thought it was pretty good.
