On the late night early spring just getting into ocean city everything started to close around 9pm went to a few of our favorite spots and all kitchens closed so my fiancé Nikki called this place because we passed it and looked like the place was jumping and asked if the kitchen was open and they said absolutely! So we gave it a shot and man it was good, the brisket sandwich was cooked nicely, bread toasted to perfection it was just awesome. Love the feel of this bar it's a classic feel. It's the dead of winter, and the temps are frozen and frigid and we had cabin fever. So lets we get out for a meal. When Northside Pit and Pub ran an ad of all you can eat shrimp and ribs for $20 this was a perfect excuse to try this location. In the off-season this is the only pit and pub that is open. We were very warmly greeted and seated and we told them right away that we were only there for the shrimp and ribs so we didn't bother with the menu. Our server was Sam and she was fabulous. Sam was Warm and bubbly with a great personality. Not only that she was incredibly attentive. Having her as our server was at least 50% of the good experience we had there. The other 50% was the shrimp and the ribs. The first plate that they brought us was at least for me enough for the "all you can eat" price. I definitely got my $20 worth. My SO Did take advantage of the all you can eat by having two plates. So if you divide two people by three plates, what an incredible bargain this was. Even though it was winter I had a Sam's Cold Snap And my honey had a Yuengling served up frosty. Bargains don't matter if the food doesn't live up to the hype. The shrimp were large enough to not be "work". The ribs were "fall off the bone" tender and juicy with a sauce that was lightly brushed onto the ribs. We spent a lot of time down OC in the off-season so we will be back here again very soon. read more

Three stars for the food. Nachos: Most of our chips were broken up and looked like they the last remnants from the bottom of the bag. We ordered pulled pork on top and there wasn't much. There was an oversized helping of El Paso or similar inexpensive salsa poured over the top. Fish Tacos: We ordered the fish blackened and the fish was done quite well but again, there was too much inexpensive salsa poured over the top. Amazing food. Just finished a pulled pork sandwich. Side cole slaw. Pork was perfect and addictive. Sweet and salty ( balanced) . Juicy. On a fresh firm roll that could stand up to the barbecue sauce. I like my slaw on the sandwich. I am a cole slaw snob. This passed muster with flying colors. Fresh. Sometimes places serve slaw that tastes and smells slightly rotten or chemical-ish in flavor. Not here. Server was the bartender. He greeted us when we came in. Got our order immediately. Brian was his name. Open for lunch on Mondays. Many places are closed. Husband had the cheeseburger. Juicy. Cooked to perfection. Same great roll. He loved it, but it was too big to finish. Walking in, we weren't really sure what to expect. The food smelled great, but my kiddo wasn't sold on the joint until she tried the nachos. The pulled pork we added was fantastic. I got the porker with onions and jalapeños on the side as the server let me know it was really spicy (and I'm not huge on onions). I'd probably go a different direction next time but that would just be my preference. The pork loin needed just a little more love and juice I think. We recently discovered the Northside location, when a true local took us their first lunch. Don't expect anything fancy--but when you enter, you feel like you've been transported into an episode of Cheers. People love this place! Great comfort food. We get the pulled chicken wrap (great for carry out). It's cooked on a smoker--so you get a slightly smoked flavor. Everything on the menu looks great! This place is exactly what it is supposed to be. Very friendly service, non-nonsense food and a casual atmosphere. The pulled pork is killer. We had it on the nachos and the portion of pork was generous. The smoke flavor is spot on and not over the top, if you know what I mean. It's delicious. I couldn't resist and had to order the "smoked" meatloaf. It is exactly what it sounds like. The meatloaf was moist and good on its own, and smother in lovely gravy. Then you cut into it and realize there is a smoke ring! And that little smoke hits you and it's a really cool dish! The sides were fine and not over complicated. This year's Pit & Pub experience can be described in a single word: expectations. Our family arrived at this place expecting numerous families dining as the clock had already struck 5:45. However, we were pleasantly surprised that we were the only customers to inhabit the dining area. This led to a relatively peaceful experience until the restaurant became full of classic American families towards the latter half of our visit. Despite the waiter having to handle various clients in a full bar area, he still tended to our needs throughout the dining experience. We had expected the food to take much more time to come out but we were shocked that it came out in a mere quarter of an hour. I ordered the 1/2 BBQ chicken with a side of cornbread and mac & cheese. The BBQ chicken was some of the moistest and well-seasoned chicken I have ever had the pleasure of laying my little taste buds on. The mac & cheese was average, but don't get me wrong it was tasty. The corn bread seemed to take a step back from my previous visit, but it was still superior to most other corn breads. I also dipped into the ribs, and it tasted quite similar to the chicken. The grilled chicken on the Ceasar salad was phenomenal to be frank. Despite the dinner rush creating a slightly more chaotic environment later in the night, the tables are spread apart in a sufficient manner to allow for a pleasant experience for the customer. Additionally, when our waiter could not give us attention for a certain period of time due to other obligations, the backup waiter along with the lady in the back were able to meet our needs. Walking out, we were given a warm "Take care guys!" vocalized by the secondary waiter in the bar; this left us with a wonderful taste in our mouth if the food had not already satisfied that demand. I am not too sure how much this place can improve to get to a perfect 5/5 stars, but perhaps revamping some of their sides will maximize their long foreseen potential and lead them to triumph in the Business of Barbecue (BOB). read more

We went here for the first time last night with a family of four, including two little ones, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They brought crayons and coloring book for the kids, and had water and drinks out quickly. While it wasn't the best BBQ I have ever had, it was pretty good. We got the Beef Brisket, Chicken Pot Pie, and Fish and Chips. Warning, the fish and chips is really just one giant fish, but that piece of fried fish was pretty tasty! The star of the show is most definitely the Chicken Pot Pie. Their take on it is different, and the breading is delicious. They also have a lot of beers on tap. Overall a great place for a quick bite to eat, and family friendly despite being geared more towards their awesome lineup of draft beer and bourbon. read more

Went to ocean city with some friends for a day and after an exhausting drive we were starving and in need of some food and a good drink before going to our hotel. Let me just say, our server Rob was the absolute BEST! He really made eating here one of the highlights of our trip, the food was amazing and the drinks definitely loosened us up. I would drive the 4 hours it took us just to eat here again. I feel like we owe Rob a drink after making him go through the trouble of splitting our checks after we had ordered, but he didn't mind. Both this location and the south side are great spots. Ordered the honey glazed old bay wing and they were phenomenal. Smoked to perfection. So I decided to try the Northside Pit & Pub since it was closer to the Carousel Hotel where we were staying. I ignored reviews regarding slow service which were very true, our waiter tried but for a Friday night at 8:30p.m. They needed more than 1 bartender & 2 servers. Place is not even 1/2 the size as the 28th street location. I stuck with my favorite crab cake dinner and this go around it was just ok, the baked beans had to much vinegar, Mac & cheese was creamy and delicious. Unfortunately Pit & Pub use to get my vote for best Crab Cake in O.C.M.D. This year I'd have to make the Crab Cake Factory my new #1. P&P, Crab cakes were served warm, were a little runny and just tasted like they were made a couple days ago. It makes me sad to say that I'll be crossing this past favorite off my list. read more
