Taco salad - needed much more lettuce
    Sarah W.

Love the ambience of the restaurant. It was very clean and well decorated. I would say that the service just seemed very mediocre. I don't say that often, but the waitress seemed very detached and uninterested. She didn't come back to check on us while we were eating, except to bring the check at the end. She was very friendly so it wasn't anything personal. It just seemed that she was not focused on service. The food was really good and I would definitely go back to try something else on the menu! Also, my friend who ordered the margarita said it was one of the best she ever had because it tasted so fresh! The mahi was really good, but I would definitely recommend more lettuce for the taco salad. It was only sprinkled on top.

We stopped here on a whim and glad we did. Fast and polite service at a very reasonable price. We got the guacamole and chips for an appetizer. The chips were nice and hot and the guac was fresh. We also got a house Margaritas. It had the perfect amount of tequila. We got a variety of tacos (pork, beef, and rice & beans) and they were all very good. Everything was wonderful. We highly recommend this location.

My family and I all had a great meal here! I highly recommend their nachos, it was the star of our meal. The entres were good too but the nachos were great and I also really liked their garlic cilantro fries

Been going to Bad Bean since they were in their other location a bit further south, and am so happy to stop back when I can. I typically go for the Grilled Chicken, Bacon, & Avocado wrap - which comes with their amazing garlic & cilantro fries. Service is great, ambiance is peaceful for the typically busy area of OBX. The lofty ceiling and beautiful artwork is always enjoyable! As a fellow artist, I love that they have local artists work available.

Enjoyed our dining here. We had a party of 6 . Service was good , had to ask for the beer I ordered a few times. Finally got it. Food was typically what you would expect from a Tex Mex Mexican restaurant. After a full day at the beach and the pool with the granddaughters. It was ready to eat. I order a chicken quesadilla, it was very good on the average sense. No surprise here. Cool surf theme through out the restaurant. Great parking !!! BTY : we left a restaurant that had no parking for this one. Great parking here. I would come back.

The food was pretty good. The beef was more like a brisket and it was good, but more sweet than I prefer. The service was good. And it only took about 25 minutes for them to sit my table of 11. This place is super cute and the drinks are also pretty tasty. The Watermelon Margarita was delicious and tasted super fresh.

Ordered bad bean for pick up, $16 for the shredder, enchilada style, it was good but wish it came with a side especially for the price.

Ask the Community - Bad Bean Baja Grill

    Is there outdoor dining available?

Yes. If the weather is nice, they will provide full service. If not, get take out and you can eat it there. Just let them know and they will bring it to you. We even ordered drinks at the bar and drank them outside. I recommend calling ahead first…

Authentic EL Salvadoran food…read more.. Was in the neighborhood and wanted to try something different.. Lucita's had a lot of positive reviews, so I had to try it out... I was not disappointed. Ordered the chicken and jalapeño pupusa and a horchata drink. The pupusas were great especially with the hot sauce that gave them that extra kick of flavor.. it came with a side of pickles cabbage that was just okay. The Horchata tasted great as well.. A traditional Central America drink made with rice, milk, cinnamon, and other goodies. Definitely recommended to check out. Note: the prices on the menu photos are out of date.. prices are a little bit higher now.

The owner was friendly, he answered all my questions. I ordered the al pastor fries, chips and salsa and cream stuffed churros. The fries were good, but a little bland. Just a little seasoning or sazon would definitely elevate them. But they did look good!! It's a $3 upcharge to add chips, salsa, and a drink to your meal. I enjoyed the churro. It was hot, crispy, and fresh. I'd get the churros again. It would be even better if they had a dipping sauce to go with them. They're dry, so caramel, chocolate, or vanilla would make them pop!! My friend got the beef tacos. She was a little disappointed because they were soggy and the beef didn't taste seasoned. She also couldn't get just one taco or mix and match. 3 tacos was the only option. The wait time was about 5-7 minutes which was a reasonable amount of time considering the line. I've had their pupusa's before also, which are good and come with a slaw on the side and sauces. The foods ok and they have good customer service. Check them out!! (Their food truck is at the Dam Neck Farmers Market on the weekends)

I could not rave about this place enough. My group had the guacamole and tuna tostada to start. Both were very well curated dishes. We also enjoyed the different variations of steak and the chicken tinga. I am not one to order a chicken dish out at a restaurant, but oh. my. gosh. It was phenomenal. HIGHLY recommend. And last but not least, the dessert. I have never had a better slice of chocolate cake. Melt in your mouth. Everything about this restaurant is top tier.

Lindsey, our bartender, was an absolute superstar. She took wonderful care of us throughout the evening and really made us feel special. Great service is about more than taking an order and keeping a glass full. Lindsey understood that distinction. The Executive Chef also came over to welcome us and started our evening with a fantastic mini tostada served with house-made guacamole and escabeche. It was an unexpected and much-appreciated touch, and a great introduction to what was ahead. We started with the Wood-Fired Wings, featured on their Wood-Fired Wednesday menu: one pound of hormone-free, all-natural organic whole chicken wings with a choice of roasted jalapeño & pineapple, chile de arbol "buffalo," white peach BBQ, or Caesar. I don't throw around superlatives lightly, but these are the best wings in the 757, and it's not even close! Next came the Tenderloin Asador, roasted garlic-marinated beef tenderloin served on a skewer with salsa cruda and salsa criolla. The beef was tender, beautifully cooked, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the Charred Brussels Sprouts with ancho sweet potato purée, maple-Dijon vinaigrette, pepitas, and goat cheese. There is a lot going on in that description, but somehow it all works together. Yummy! For dinner, my wife selected the Bone-In Pork Ribeye, served over mashed potatoes with peanut salsa macha and grilled onions. The dish was as visually appealing as it was delicious. The pork was cooked to perfection, everything was seasoned properly, and she enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Argentinian Grilled Fish, served over mashed potatoes with grilled greens, chimichurri, and almonds. I really enjoyed both the presentation and the amazing flavor of this dish. The fish arrived piping hot, perfectly cooked, and properly seasoned. Everything on the plate worked beautifully together in that rare way that is so wonderful to encounter when a dish looks every bit as good as it tastes. Naturally, celebrating 26 years of marriage required a little dessert, so we finished with the Chocolate Crème Brûlée, made with dark Colombian chocolate. Interestingly, it reminded me of pot de crème because it was served without the usual layer of hardened caramelized sugar. Not a complaint, just an observation. I enjoyed it very much. From the banter we shared with Lindsey, to the Executive Chef taking a moment to welcome us, to the atmosphere, the Happy Hour selections, and the consistently excellent food, Quemar delivered something considerably better than simply a good dinner. If you have never tried Quemar, you are missing out on more than another night out. You are missing an experience that deserves to be savored.
