Amazing Food. 100% incredible. Absolutely zero negative feedback. My mother had lunch here today with her friends and brought my husband and I something home because we just had a baby. I've been dying to try this place after reading the reviews and am so glad I finally did. The food is fresh, unique, and flavorful. Definitely not your average menu. The serving sizes are massive. Not expensive at all. REAL FOOD - which is so hard to find at restaurants in these small towns. This place exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to try more items from the menu. Driving thru Panguitch and this place popped up. Was a little skeptical of the 5* initially, but Yelpers rarely let me down. I'm a believer after having the home made salads dressing and salads made fresh and their beef stroganoff. Wife said "that was a really good salad and I rarely compliment a salad". The stroganoff was made from scratch and surprising creamy w decent cuts of beef. Both orders came with home made Focaccia bread! The have an open prep area and when we walked in the had just baked dessert and in process of cutting it. During the Panguitch Balloon Rally we thought it'd be a good idea to stop in for a quick dinner before the Balloon Glow. It was packed! Luckily, we snagged the last table. I was told I had to try their Fried Mushrooms and I know it seems like a strange combination, but they were sooo good. The perfect batter paired with a great spicy ranch, it was awesome. Even my mushroom hating fiance enjoyed them! My fiance tried their Salmon Tacos and said they were amazing. I tried a bite and wasn't a huge fan, but I think that's more personal preference. The Backroads Bistro was suggested by our host (Air BnB) and we took him up on his suggestion. He was right on. The Bistro is located right there on the corner as you enter town (signal light) -- easy to reach. Parking was plentiful around the town square. We were greeted directly upon entering, and seated quickly. The young staff member brought us a menu, each a glass of water, and silverware (plastic). I believe the drink choices are water or coffee, didn't seem to be anything else on tap. I later wondered if it was a BYOB establishment. The menu is limited and quite eclectic, there was an Asian flair to several of the items. This was very interesting. We placed our order -- directly to the entrees, skipped the appetizers of which there were a few listed. The husband ordered the sirloin tip sandwich and chips, I ordered the scallion infused chicken rice bowl. By this time the place was pretty much full, maybe a couple chairs open at a shared table. We had a window seat, which was cool. We got to see the people coming through the town ... all the various vehicles and what a variety. Food arrived, well plated on sturdy recyclable paper plates and bowls. The sirloin tip sandwich was more like a po'boy (poor-boy) size and the husband said it was very tasty and tender. He wasn't much for the waffle fries. The rice bowl was good and very filling. If I were to order it again (would we be back this way?) I'd ask if more vegetables could be included such as bok-choy, spinach, celery, carrots, ... and such. I'm big on veggies. There were plenty of little chunks of flavorful chicken. This place is a diamond in the rough!! Home cooked food which was amazing in an area without any other good options. Our waitress was very kind and attentive too. I'm a very picky eater but there were multiple items on the menu I would have eaten! I had a cheddar potato soup with bacon and it was divine. My parents loved their meals too. The only (minor) negative was a convo I overheard between the waitresses. Ours asked the other which table she wanted to take and the older waitress stated that she'd "prefer" to wait on another table (not ours). Unbelievable food! My gosh I've tried going here passing through town several times but we always went through either too late or during the holidays when they've been closed. Finally we were able to have dinner when we recently passed through town. My gosh, what an incredible experience. The food was so good! I had the fish tacos and my husband had the sticky chicken. He never gives anything a 10 but he gave this a big 10! Mine was a 10 as well! Superb staff and excellent food! I cannot wait to pass through town again so I can try another menu item. Soooo good! We ordered mushrooms for the appetizer, beef stroganoff, and a sticky chicken salad. Everything was delicious and so fresh. The bread, made in house, was so moist and tasty, I would have loved to have a loaf of that to take with me. The staff was amazing, busy but very attentive. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Backroads Bistro was one of my favorite restaurants in the Bryce Canyon area. They have a regular menu plus a few specials that rotate from time to time. The interior isn't anything fancy, but it's clean and well-kept (bathrooms are especially clean too!). The staff is so friendly, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. The portions are massive, which was perfect after a long day of hiking. I loved their lemon garlic shrimp fettucine, which was one of their specials. Being from the East Coast, I'm pretty picky with my seafood and was quite satisfied with their shrimp. My boyfriend loved the chicken bacon avocado ranch club sandwich too. Wish I was in the area for longer to try some of their other menu items! Definitely give them a try. read more

I understand the five star reviews. This little quirky, unassuming place makes some really great food. There's a few oddities, like you can only buy water or soda by the bottle from a fridge, but everything we ordered was very tasty! The tacos were outstanding, the pasta Alfredo was much better than even Olive Garden. The service was great and the owner (Bob) even comes around to check on each table. It's typical, small town hospitality with good food to match and a constantly changing menu and specials board. Give it a try! read more

On the way to Bryce Canyon, we called ahead to place a lunch order, and it was the best decision we made! I had the chicken salad sandwich, and it was fantastic. I'm pretty sure everything is homemade, including their focaccia bread and the cajun-seasoned waffle chips. My friend got the quesadilla and also enjoyed her choice. We called about 30 minutes ahead, and our food was ready when we arrived. The woman running the store (owner? manager?) was very friendly and helpful. We were actually 2nd guessing our choice based on the looks outside but so glad we trusted the reviews!! Even though the outside ambiance is very lacking this place is a gem and if you're passing thru looking for a great lunch this is your spot!! The team working inside were very friendly and courteous! We had the glazed chicken fingers appetizer and what a treat! So delicious- great sweet/spicy balance. Generous portion as well we took most with us and enjoyed later. My daughter had the chicken salad sandwich and she said it was superb! The foccacia bread was so fresh! I had the Cuban sandwich and it was equally great! This place was fantastic for a much-needed dinner after a day of hiking & not eating in Bryce Canyon. I ordered the green curry pasta with chicken and homemade focaccia and it was delicious!! The service was very friendly and kind. The reason I am giving then 4 instead of 5 stars is because they don't offer reusable silverware, cups, or plates, even for dine in customers!! OVERALL 10/10 If you're looking for a place to eat in Panguitch, please TRUST me and drive straight to this place! Don't even scroll and look for other food places. I was completely impressed (and I'm a hard one to please) with not only the amazing customer service and ambience this place had when I walked in - but the food is incredible! I didn't expect a restaurant this good to exist in such a little town. THE EXPERIENCE My boyfriend and I arrived to our Airbnb a bit late and was looking for a place to eat for dinner around 6:30pm. I contemplated on the pizza place across the street, or even the cowboy diner further down the street because they were open late and we didn't want to be one of those customers that walk in right before closing. There weren't many options for food when I came across this place on Yelp. I noticed they close at 7pm but their menu looked interesting so my boyfriend and I agreed to drive to this place and order take-out. When we arrived, we saw there were still customers dining in and we asked if they were still serving for dine-in or take-out only. The nice girl at the register along with a gentlemen who I think was the owner greeted us happily and welcomed us to dine-in. The owner even shared with us that we could sit down, relax and take our time because he is usually there an hour after closing down as well. I thought this was very sweet of them, I guess I'm so used to the rude restaurants in LA that push customers out the door 20 minutes before closing. What a blessing so find this place in such a small town! We ordered the Cuban sandwich with Cajun fries and all I can tell you is... GET THIS SANDWICH! If you've ever had a Cubano from Porto's Bakery in CA, this sandwich from this restaurant is 10000% better. I don't even know what to say. Everything about it was great. The price. The sauce. The Cajun chips. The Cubano itself. Just wow. I hope that I can get the chance to return to this place and try more of their items the next time I visit Bryce Canyon. Until then, please support this Bistro because I have a feeling they will become the #1 MUST EAT restaurants in Panguitch and surrounding places to national parks very soon! If you're ever passing through Panguitch of Southern Utah, you must give this place a try! The food was top-notch for this charming little town. The tostadas with pork is what we had and it was the best we've ever had. We also had the chicken sandwich...it was actually real chicken cooked that morning! The quality of the ingredients was great and everything was made fresh. I also enjoyed watching the staff prepare food right in front of us. The staff is super friendly and the chef/owner "Bob" is so good with the dishes he creates. We got to meet him and let him know just how much we appreciate the restaurant and his food! So glad that we found this place! I had the sticky chicken salad, and I started eating the chicken alone it was so good I didn't want to stop! But decided to eat it as it was intended and the salad together was delicious! I told one of the workers I loved it so much and she said that others will come in and order it and just eat the chicken alone, but that she tells them she will sell the chicken itself and for a very reasonable price. My husband ordered the turkey club and he was very happy with it. And I may have taken a few of his homemade potatoes chips! The service was amazing! We needed to stop for lunch while passing through Panguitch. My 13 year old was tired of burgers so we stopped in to the Backroads Bistro for a change. Service was top notch. Our waitress was attentive, knew the menu inside and out, and was able to accommodate some of our requests. She was friendly and checked in with us during our dining. The ambiance was nice enough. Some soft music playing and a little chatter from the other tables. Seating is a little tight as the building is on the smaller side. But the food. Oh my God the food. I was confused by the Cuban Sandwich not having mustard and instead having a Sriracha aioli. But I gave it a shot and never missed the mustard. One of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. Fantastic pork, great ham, and the aoli was amazing. Cooked perfectly the cheese was just crisping up on the edges. We also ordered the pasta for my wife and son and they seemed happy. It looked amazing and he ate the whole thing, which was a feat. The serving sizes are very large on everything we saw around the other tables. My mother was eating lite and had a quesadilla sans protein. She seemed to love it and the flavor was great. All in all this was a happy little coincidence for us.
