I'm a vegetarian and the homemade black bean burger was only matched by the spectacular fries. Large portion sizes and food that tasted as good as it looks. John the manager was the only one waiting tables at the time and it was clear that he gave every single person personal service and attention. Everything about Red Dirt Diner is AMAZING! The food, the service and the ambiance are all top notch. My wife and I were looking for a place to grab dinner after a full day exploring at Bryce Canyon. We were starved. Looked at the other restaurant choices close to the park and were not impressed. Decided to drive 20 mins to Hatch and we're so glad we did. This place exceeded our expectations in every way imaginable. When we showed up, Mike was the only one trying to juggle all of the front end duties. He was running around waiting, serving, playing hostess, and clearing tables so he was super busy. He clearly communicated that they were short staffed that evening and let us know he would seat us shortly. We understood since it was obvious he was super busy, but we appreciated the communication upfront. When he finally came back around to take our orders, we asked him what he recommended. Mike recommended the Pastrami Burger with fries and the Cowboy Burger with fries because he said their fries are done differently than anyone else's. We took his recommendations and we weren't disappointed. Both burgers were the best burgers we have ever had before. Yeah, they were that good. Just incredible. Super high quality ingredients, perfect preparation and great presentation. He wasn't wrong about the fries either. We've never seen anyone prepare fries the way Red Dirt does them. Super delicious, too. The service and hospitality provided by John was also first class. Very attentive and personable. In the future, we plan to visit Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Went there for breakfast around 10:15am as they said online and over the phone that they were open for breakfast from 7-11am. We got there and were told to order from the counter. So we ordered and began waiting. A few minutes later someone came out of the kitchen and shouted, "The diner is closed!" When I asked the staff at the counter I was told breakfast was for take-out only and that the dining room was closed. If there had been signs in the restaurant, info on the website, or if we had been told sooner we would've found a different restaurant to eat at. On top of that they included a 20% gratuity on the bill. For 4 people, we spent more than $85. But we ended up having to take our food and drive back to our hotel and eat inside our room. Outstanding food! The four of us had left Bryce late and were heading for our hotel in Kanab and would arrive too late to eat there. We saw the reviews for the Red Dirt Diner and realized it was on the way. Three of us had the Cowboy Burger with onion rings and fries and one had the classic burger. The onion rings were exceptional! My husband said he never had better. The Cowboy Burger was juicy and delucious. The classic burger was also very good. The fried were cut differently. My husband called them "side winder fries". For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake. It was served warm and the chocolate frosting was velvety. The cake was very light. Simply delicious. There is not much to eat in Hatch Utah we tried the bar down the street, but they would not let kids in so we still mowed upon this place and glad we did we were not that hungry. We just got nachos and fried corn for a place being small kinda in middle of nowhere food was awesome so we came back for breakfast the next morning and the breakfast was amazing. Jana had a hamburger that was equally as hot and juicy, with a side of great fresh cut fries. The place is no-nonsense, casual, but clean and comfortable. The price is not McDonalds level, but the food was great. The burgers were big enough that we concluded that we could have easily shared one and still feel well fed. My wife and 3 kids just left Bryce and as we were driving we saw this place on the side of the road. We decided to wing it and pull in. We were skeptical at 1st as there were only 2 other cars in the dirt lot. Upon entering we were greeted and seated immediately in the back with a postcard type view of the outside of Bryce Canyon. After us more parties started arriving and filling the place up. The very nice lady took our order tableside. We ordered wings off the bat and our dinner. The wings came 1st and we split them and we all agreed they were top notch. I ordered the cowboy burger which was Bison meat (2 patties) with Bacon and it came with sidewinder fries. I planned on eating half and saving the rest but it was too good and I devoured the whole plate. My older son ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. My wife ordered the patty melt, my other kids ordered kids burger and kids nuggets. Both of which were not your typical kids type meal. The quality was better. Needless to say we polished off our plates completely. Even my 2 younger kids who never finish their food. Its rare when every single one of us is happy with the food but we all agreed everything was amazingly good. I will 100% definitely be stopping by again next time I am in the area. Very impressed. Only negative was they are newly opened and dont have their alcohol license just yet. Dont sleep on this place. Stop by and guaranteed you wont be disappointed. read more
