Went there for breakfast around 10:15am as they said online and over the phone that they were open for breakfast from 7-11am. We got there and were told to order from the counter. So we ordered and began waiting. A few minutes later someone came out of the kitchen and shouted, "The diner is closed!" When I asked the staff at the counter I was told breakfast was for take-out only and that the dining room was closed. If there had been signs in the restaurant, info on the website, or if we had been told sooner we would've found a different restaurant to eat at. On top of that they included a 20% gratuity on the bill. For 4 people, we spent more than $85. But we ended up having to take our food and drive back to our hotel and eat inside our room. When we got back to our hotel, most of our food was burnt.

We stopped here after hiking in Bryce and the food was incredible! We ordered the cowboy burger and cowboy corn and they were both delicious.

We loved the food at the Red Dirt. Beef nachos were loaded with ground beef. The pastrami burger and bison burger were absolutely fantastic. Service was excellent and food came out quickly.

Dinner pickings are a bit slim out in Bryce Canyon! We finally chose Bryce Canyon Pines because it…read morewas fairly well-reviewed and 7 minutes away. We arrived about 6 and waited about 20 minutes for a very nice booth. We split a pretty good-sized house salad. It was fine. I had the trout with asparagus and sweet potato fries. Fish (lemon pepper and salt) was tasty and perfectly prepared. Asparagus was also perfectly cooked, still a bit of crunch. The fries were too limp but tasted good. My hubs ordered the ribeye. Looked so juicy and charred but was a bit tough. Flavor was great and it was a gigantic 16-oz. portion. Coffee was tasteless, unfortunately. The absolute highlight of the meal was the pie! The apple pie is the best I have ever eaten. The filling contained nice slices of apples, no mushy stuff here. And the crust was incredibly flaky with a bit of sugar baked on top. My husband ordered the cherry pie à la mode and was quite pleased with the pie and two little scoops of ice cream alongside. Nice staff too! This place is popular for a reason. It HAS to be that incredible pie.

So glad we had dinner early because this place was a bit packed, I believe, due to it being the week of Thanksgiving. Food was good! I enjoyed my elk burger and kinda wish I didn't get bacon since it overpowered the elk a bit. The elk was delicious. I should've just ordered 2 patties. My wife had the rainbow trout. Not the best trout I've had, but it was okay. They were a bit short staffed, hence the crowd waiting in the lobby. So kudos to our waitress, who was the only server on this Monday shift. The bartender also had to do double duty, seating us. Overall, despite the understaffing issue, we had a nice dinner. When's the next time you'd get to eat elk! Our server Hallie (I think) was awesome and literally ran around helping the tables. Also, great selection of beers!!

The history of the place is written on little laminated cards on the table and it's fun to read about the family that started it all, and the amazing home made pies that Fern created and shared with the community. I had a slice of the coconut cream pie and can confirm - ITS INCREDIBLE PIE! I did also get a cup of their soup of the day (was tomato bisque that day) which was smooth and lovely, and got an order of their homemade bread to go with it. I cannot stress enough that it was some of the BEST home made bread I have ever had, and it paired so well with the creamy soup. It was an unconventional lunch but I left so happy! And my server was very sweet and attentive. Overall - if you need food or just want to try a spectacular slice of pie, you have to stop here. The place is absolutely iconic, an American treasure for sure~~

This is my new standard for pie excellence. We got the Thunderberry and apple pie with buttered rum sauce served warm in the diner and a la mode. Excellent choice. Both were warm and delicious and we just couldn't stop eating both of them. We loved the pie so much that we got a slice of coconut cream to go and ate it for breakfast the next day. I have been dreaming about this pie ever since and have even had the thought of taking a flight back to Utah just to get a slice. On top of all that, our waitress Jersey was a delight. She made meaningful conversation with us and was spot on with her service. The burgers were good too, but man, if we didn't order burgers, we probably could have eaten two more slices of pie and I would have liked that just fine!
