My wife and I stopped in while staying in the area to explore Bryce Canyon. The owners were a joy to talk with and the food was great. Not only did they welcome my wife's service dog with open arms, they went out of their way to bring him water and we ordered him food off the menu as well. The place is very clean, casual, warm and inviting, but a lot of that could have been the owners! The prices are probably the most reasonable in the area as well. The motel extended their guests a 10% discount offer for meals at Hatch Station. We decided to give it a try and stopped there one morning for breakfast. Hatch Station's Dining Car Restaurant is intimate and clean. As you walk in, there is a little store area that sells some basic items you might need (It is not a grocery store), then there is the counter where you order your meal before sitting down. This is a hole in the wall motel cafe-ish feeding station. And frankly it was just fine. The VERY young man who took our order and brought out our food was very nice and efficient. We got a burger, fries, steak sandwich, fries and a salad and everything was very good. Memorable? No, but the place doesn't present itself as anything more. Hatch Station's Dining Car Restaurant is a great family business located half an hour west of Bryce Canyon. It seemed to me that the wife was the waitress and her husband was the chef. The service here was excellent! All the dinner entrees come with with a choice of potato (baked, mashed, fries) and either a soup or salad. They also serve a delicious home made bread for the table. This bread was so soft and chewy that we were compelled to ask for a second loaf! I ordered a New York Steak and my brother went for the T-Bone. Both of us felt that the quality of the beef used wasn't all that great. Both cuts were slightly too tough and weren't as juicy as we had hoped. My mom picked the BBQ 1/2 Chicken which was pretty good; dad opted for the trout which turned out to be my favorite dish of the lot.
