This is now the favorite part of our trip to Panguitch Utah. The food was so good the first night that we decided to go the second night too! It was fun to watch the owner/chef making the marinades and the salad dressings right in front of us. His ingredients are fresh and the sauces are delicious. He looked familiar to us so we asked him why, and if he'd ever been to Salt Lake and he said he used to do some television spots as the guest chef. No wonder! The steak salad was fantastic! Actually, all of the food was amazing! Just wish the restaurant was closer to salt lake! 5 stars for certain! read more

We needed to stop for lunch while passing through Panguitch. My 13 year old was tired of burgers so we stopped in to the Backroads Bistro for a change. Service was top notch. Our waitress was attentive, knew the menu inside and out, and was able to accommodate some of our requests. She was friendly and checked in with us during our dining. The ambiance was nice enough. Some soft music playing and a little chatter from the other tables. Seating is a little tight as the building is on the smaller side. But the food. Oh my God the food. I was confused by the Cuban Sandwich not having mustard and instead having a Sriracha aioli. But I gave it a shot and never missed the mustard. One of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. Fantastic pork, great ham, and the aoli was amazing. Cooked perfectly the cheese was just crisping up on the edges. We also ordered the pasta for my wife and son and they seemed happy. It looked amazing and he ate the whole thing, which was a feat. The serving sizes are very large on everything we saw around the other tables. My mother was eating lite and had a quesadilla sans protein. She seemed to love it and the flavor was great. All in all this was a happy little coincidence for us. My 13 year old chose the best place in town and we all lucked out for it. I'll be back. read more

We had the steak tacos, chicken enchiladas, the Cuban sandwich, the shrimp quesadilla and fettuccine Alfredo. The portion sizes were very large as well so you get a lot for your money. We were headed to Bryce Canyon and stopped for lunch on the way, because of the high rating. We did take it to go (because we had our dog with us, but ate it right away) and I was surprised how long it took to get 2 burgers, when their dining room wasn't even full. My burger was ordered the way it was listed on the menu. It was so tall, with all the stuff and the thick burger and bun, I couldn't even bite into it. It was at least 3-4" tall! There was no way to eat it and get all the ingredients in one bite, as to savor the intended flavor. Therefore, it was not a good experience or a good burger. They offered "homemade" chips with the burger meal. These were hashed, like Chic-fil-A fries, but thin, like a chip. They were over cooked (brown) and limp, like a French Fry, but too thin to be fries. They were terrible! I'd suggest they either make fries or offer bagged chips, as this is not their forte. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Their other food might be good, but I'm doubtful. On top of the mediocre food, we paid $33 for 2 burgers and a bottle of Coke, that we shared. It left me wishing we'd gone to Henrie's Drive-Inn or Subway! I will say that the lady who worked the register and took orders/waited tables, was very nice and apologized for it taking so long. But this is really the only good thing I can say. read more

The food was alright - we enjoyed the potato pancakes and beer battered mushroom appetizers, but the black bean tostada special that I got lacked flavor, spice and seasoning. My friend got the chicken breast and lemony mashed potatoes, my husband got the chicken quesadilla, which were both okay. The menu was eclectic and a little confusing - we were intrigued by the Thai curry pasta and fettuccine with sambal, and appreciated the variety though we didn't try either one, perhaps we will next time. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Sadly I don't recall her name. The food was so good. We had the goat cheese filled peppers, wasabi pancakes, lasagna, Cubano, pesto primavera, and chicken sandwich. We were starving after hiking and found Backroads on our way back to Zion. Cool little place, but... It's mid-February (off season) and the service was painfully slow. We stood & waited 25 min. for a take out order and watched the staff eat while nobody was preparing food. The owner (Bob?) was busy talking to locals. When they eventually did bring the order it was wrong. We burned another 15 minutes waiting for the correct order. 40 minutes for so-so food? ‍ Unfortunately, it's the only decent looking place in town that is open. Next time we will skip this joint and stop for gas station sushi. read more

Agree 100% with previous reviewer that the fried mushroom appetizer with chili ranch sauce was fantastic. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the chicken salad and I had the special, Green onion marinated chicken with charred green beans, avocado, pepitas, watermelon and ?? over sticky rice and it was super delicious. Best food in Panguitch. We went to two other places, and this was by far the best. The sticky salad was soooo good. You could open a restaurant just selling that chicken. Person who took our order was super friendly. We had a sandwich that was awesome too. Don't try the popular barbecue place in town, and definitely don't do the pizza place. I watched the person drop two different things on the ground, and pick them up and keep using them without washing. As my wife says, you don't have to bring someone down to build someone else up, so I am not leaving negative reviews for the other places. A small Bistro with wonderful food. The menu was large with salads, sandwiches and main entrees which included some Mexican choices. When we arrived we were told right away about their specials of the day. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, but was able to have it served on a delicious salad. The Balsamic dressing was homemade and was terrific. The special was Sausage Lasagne and salad, also delicious. Service was great, always checking on us, but not intrusive. Spoke to the Chef, he's very proud of his staff and his dishes. Definitely a return is warranted. read more

Traveling from out of state, this Bistro is wonderful! Original and quality food, good price and service as well.

Finally got the chance to eat there for the firs time and was thoroughly impressed with the food. I had the curry pasta with chicken. The noodles were perfectly cooked and not mush, had some zucchini and crookneck squash in it also, along with a nice piece of garlic bread. I'll definitely be returning again looking forward to trying out the other items on the menu. read more
