Great food and service! Bob puts together some great food you wouldn't expect to find in a town the size of Panguitch!

Stopped by for lunch as we left Bryce Canyon. Food was delicious and reasonably priced! Even my son's kids menu chicken tenders were high quality house made ones, definitely not from a package. Beer battered mushrooms were perfectly crisp, light, and very tasty. Everything was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Lastly, the caramel pecan chewy bar was so good we went back for a second one. And the service was so friendly and genuine, with the owner checking in on every table even after his young staff had done a great job. Only thing to note is that they use disposable containers and utensils, even for dine-in. read more

The food was very fresh, homemade, and delicious! There were many tempting items on the menu, but I had a very fresh salad with berries, seeds and grilled chicken with an amazing strawberry vinaigrette dressing. My son loved his herb grilled chicken breast with delicious, homemade mashed potatoes and fresh sautéed vegetables. the baked potato soup was delicious as well. We left Bryce Canyon to drive to Zion just before lunchtime. Panguitch was a few miles out of the way and this lunch was totally worth it. The staff is delightful, the portions are HUGE, and the food is fresh and delicious. We both had salads - his had salmon, mine had grilled chicken - all cooked just right. Seriously the best food I've had in a long time! The looks on the outside made us second guess our choice. But glad we trusted reviews! I'm writing this while just getting done eating the best food. Even the basic Mac and cheese my kids got was fantastic! I got the fresh salmon with the veggies and wasabi pancakes! And my husband got the steak tacos both fantastic. This place is an absolute GEM. Despite the odd interior furniture & layout, the food was amazing!! We had the fish tacos, some of the best we've ever had. Everything is homemade, fresh and creative. The carrot cake was honestly the BEST WE'VE EVER HAD (and I'm a baker)!! Do not miss this place if you are staying or passing through Panguitch! We had lunch here and it was so good we almost came back for dinner. I had the sticky chicken salad and it was fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly, and it was clear that each dish was made with care (our group ordered several different things and we could see them being prepared over the counter). This is possibly the weirdest sit-down restaurant you'll ever visit. It's also one of the best. Everything is served in styrofoam takeout containers. Seating is at glass tables with ornately carved pedestals that they must have bought from a furniture store that was going out of business. And... ...the food is fantastic. The staff is, as mentioned in other reviews, extremely nice. The place has almost no signage and is hard to spot. Take the trouble to find it. You'll be glad you did. read more

This place doesn't look too promising from the road- but oh, my! Inside the decor seems like it might have been collected from an estate sale/ heavy carved wooden chairs with not too pristine upholstered seats, glass topped tables. Fireplace. Everything is ordered at the counter where two lovely smiling young women advised us and took our orders. The cook/owner made our incredibly good "Sticky Chicken" salads. Think sweet and sour spiced chicken on a bed of super fresh greens laden with dried cranberries, candied walnuts, carrot spears... a take on ranch dressing and warm, fresh, home-made bread. All is served "take out" style in a styrofoam box with plastic utensils. Coffee the only hot drink. Sodas are help-yourself from a tall cooler. You will love this place! No frills, big on genuinely good, fresh food served with care and kindness. read more

The building for this restaurant is a non-descript brick. The food and service inside is fantastic! We were greeted by a friendly staff and we ate food that was significantly better than we expected, given the size of the town. I had a green curry with fresh vegetables and my husband had wasabi potato cakes with asian slaw. They also were really thoughtful regarding my kids orders - bringing a sample to the table of the cajun spice waffle fries to make sure they'd eat them before giving a full serving. Such a nice surprise to have some unique and fun food in a small town. The ingredients were fresh and combined to make some really tasty dishes. The wasabi potato pancakes were amazing. The beer battered mushrooms were also great and super fresh! The Cuban sandwich was our favorite! We wished we could take a bottle of the Sriracha aioli with us home. We asked for extra and he made a whole new batch for us. Great service! The fettuccini Alfredo is a classic dish and was super creamy. It was perfect with their fresh focaccia bread. If you are passing through Panguich on the way to Bryce Canyon, this is well worth the stop. read more

So yes you will be pleasantly surprised. As I was. We were on our way to Bryce Cannon Garlic fried mushrooms the order is large enough to share. Light batter hint of garlic. French onion soup done right like a fine steak house might serve. Going to a very small town in the off season did not give me much optimism about finding vegetarian options . I was pleasantly surprised at Backroads Bistro. The cook (owner?) took the time to describe the menu items and ingredients. He obviously and deservedly took pride in quality preparation and TASTE. Highly recommended to anyone checking out Zion and Bryce Canyon. Also, portions were generous. PS: Get the dessert!!!! read more

I would give this place 10 stars! The food was incredible! We got the special beer battered mushrooms with the chili crisp ranch which were outstanding. My boyfriend and I were on our way to Bryce Canyon from Zion when we stopped into this unassuming spot for lunch. Although it looked like only a few people were working there, we were so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. He loved his Salmon tacos and I thoroughly enjoyed the Achiote Steak Quesadillas. Perfect hearty meal in between camping trips. Quick service, super yummy food!!! Loved every single thing we ordered. I wish we lived nearby so we could frequent here all the time. Wow I can't believe our luck in stumbling upon this delicious multi layered delicious and savory dining experience after a long day hiking in Bryce! I had the curry pasta, boyfriend had the beef stroganoff and we shared a side of Wasabi potato pancakes. My friend had a berry salad with shrimp and another friend had the seared ahi tuna. The flavors were expertly combined to provide for the multi layered expect. All I can say is that we thoroughly enjoyed this and I can't recommend it enough. read more
