In a word: delicious! After three trips, it is by far the best pizza near Brookland (my apologies to Menomale). A bit pricey for the portions but its what we've come to expect from "gourmet" pizza. The crust is full and crunchy and blends well with the toppings. The sauce is great and toppings have always fresh. My favorite has been the Eckington but the Common Good was good as well. Service is great...the only real challenge has been parking. It can be a headache but the pizza is worth it! Overall a definite recommend! read more

I got a small, one topping pizza for carryout and it ended up being almost $15, even though their carryout menu said it was only $10. This place was actually recommended to me by a friend, so we walked over together to check it out. If you plan on eating inside, note that there's additional seating upstairs. The stairs can be hard to see. In fact, had my friend not been here before, I would have assumed that there was only 1 table inside at which to eat. We seated ourselves upstairs near the bar and waited on our waitress. As it turned out, we'd be doing a lot of that as the meal went on. Our waitress was horribly inattentive and the dining area was small. The pizza, however, was absolutely delicious. I had never been to a place where the topping were underneath the cheese, but that was the case with my pizza here. After freaking out momentarily thinking that they had brought me a plain cheese pizza, I was able to enjoy what turned out to be an amazing pizza. Great spot to grab a pizza in the neighborhood! The Eckington and Bloomingdales are my personal favorites. I'm not sure what the recipe is, but the crust is fantastic. If you're looking from a change of pace from your regular greasy pizza joint then this is your place. Also have to mention the exceptional service. This is favorite pizza place in DC. The Shaw pizza is our fav (minus the ham). Love the crust and homemade mozzarella! Salads are good too. It's close enough to walk to and they have lovely outdoor seating (indoor too) or takeaway. read more

Went for the first time last night, and I admit I've been thinking about the pizza all day today! The place is so lovely- decorated beautifully. Nestled among row houses with easy street parking and a lovely outdoor patio I hope to visit when it's warmer. Solid wine selection and it appeared that they had good beer offering as well. Full bar with cocktails as well. The pizza was amazing - excellent crust cooked perfectly. High quality toppings too! Desserts were very good and the lavender ice cream was spectacular. Highly recommend. Friendly staff and family friendly, but the intimate atmosphere in the dining area and top quality food make Bacio a great spot for even special occasions. I'll be back! read more

I shuffled very carefully across the icy sidewalk to Bacio pizza for what I hoped would be a cure for my overhang from last night's noggfest at Terence's place. We've all had those nights where you wander around U street bars til 2 in the morning and debate the reform of the Italian political system til 4 in the morning. It makes you groggy as hell. So when I picked up a hot personal pie from Bacios for $9 I needed it to accomplish one main objective- make me feel like a new man. It did, but the cheese was stretchy and any topping you add is two extra dollars. This is seriously the best pizza in DC. The ingredients are fresh and the service is great. Best of all, you can get a pizza order in about 10 minutes. I usually get a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms - what a great combo! I think their sauce brings the entire pizza together. They have a great patio outside to enjoy during the Spring and Summer. Inside, they have an upstairs seating area which is perfect if you are eating with a couple of friends. I tried the pizza here for the first time this past weekend, and it was super delicious! I ordered the Common Good, which is a veggie pizza. The pizza had tons of cheese, and a yummy, chewy but crisp crust. One negative thing: there were some pepperoni on the pizza, hidden under the cheese. I picked the pizza up just before the restaurant was closing-- so I had already gotten the pizza home, and I was eating it before I noticed. Luckily I'm not allergic to pepperoni...but I don't eat pork, so it was kind of annoying to have to pick the pepperoni off. Even with the mishap, I would definitely try some of the other pizzas at Bacio. Perhaps next time I'll dine-in on the cute patio, or check the pizza before I go home just in case. read more

I like local places and this is a small bbn local place. 2 had pizza, i had a slic and it was very good. 2 had the calzone, very good too. We split a ceasar salad among 4 people and also had mozzarella sticks- very good, not premade frozen kind, very tasty. Had great service, the food was awesome and finished it off with ice cream. Visiting some friends and this cute little joint was a few blocks over!! I stopped in and had a extra cheese and pepperoni pizza...AMAZING!! The cheese stretched for miles and it's was so good. Just another reason to love Bloomingdale. I came here on a recent Sunday early evening for dinner with a friend and we sat outside on the terrace. It could be that this is a new neighborhood for me or that it is a quiet contrast to 14th street, but something about sitting outside here made me feel like I was on vacation. I love how their pizzas are named after different neighborhoods - I split the "Shaw" with a friend- it came with ham, baby arugula, cherry tomato, Bacio mozzarella, and pesto sauce. The others look really good too but I'll probably have to get this again when I go back. The atmosphere was really relaxed here; granted it was a lazy Sunday around 5 but we sat for a while talking and felt no pressure to leave. I even opted for dessert, which I don't normally order. When the server told us they have honey lavender ice cream I had to try it. It was really good- and this is coming from someone who is not a big ice cream person. It wasn't overly sweet; in fact it was pretty light with a lavender aroma that was not too overpowering. There isn't a lot of outdoor seating but I believe they have seating upstairs and this would also be a nice place to pick up food from if you live nearby. read more

Love Bacio Pizzeria! I live a few blocks away and this is my go to pizza place. I take family here when they visit, pick up a few pizzas for pizza night and for events. It's great. My favourite pizza is the Eckington and second favourite is Common Ground. All of the ones I've tried are good though! If you're dining in, be aware the dining room is small and can be tough to accommodate large parties. Bacio is a fantastic local, neighbourhood pizza place. Definitely try it out! read more

I went here with my parents for dinner on a Sunday evening. We had no trouble being seated, as the place was small but mostly empty inside (it was nice out, and outside seating was full). It's very cute both inside and out and on a nice quiet street. The service could have been a bit better - water glasses remained empty for some time and we had to request refills, for instance. But, overall it was a good experience. We all got pizzas of our choosing, my parents opting for the thin crust and really enjoying it. I would say my pizza was good, but not amazing. I'm definitely open to going back and trying another pizza though, so if you're in the area and craving pizza I would definitely recommend Bacio! This is my favorite pizza place in DC, and I'm a pizza snob! The crust is crispy but fluffy. The sauce is what really gives the pizza an authentic taste. The quality of pizza, the cute bistro atmosphere, and the international staff makes this place one of a kind. Very cute restaurant with decent ingredients. I expected slightly better cherry tomatoes on the pizza, considering the season, but whatev, still yummy. The salad was good, but dressing was bland. Small pizza and salad would've been plenty for two people. Kahuuuute patio and apparently it's BYOB (did not see that mentioned anywhere though?) but the mosquitoes were out of control despite several citronella candles. Bacio is our house's go-to for pizza in the neighborhood. It's quick, easy and delicious. I've lived around the corner for 3 years and their one-topping carry out special is often my savior! The cheese and the crust are so good. I confess I've never dined in, but I have taken advantage of the ice cream they offer (the only place in the neighborhood you can get a scoop or a cone) and the Mexican Coke. My favorites are the Eckington or just a regular large pizza with prosciutto! read more

Reliable fair-to-middling DC pizza. Better than U Street/Adams-Morgan crap but not quite as good as, say, Vace. Their tomato sauce seems to be straight tomato paste though. Thick, way too tart and not much additional flavor. Also pies tend to be under cooked. read more

First time time writing a Yelp review! So the pizza is pretty decent actually (if you're into a thinner crust), but I wouldn't really recommend this place for a dine in experience. We had heard great things but we live far, so we took an Uber out there. Bacio's charges 18% gratuity automatically, which I'm totally fine with, but you don't really get any service...you order the food yourself at the counter, you get yourself water from the main drink dispenser, and the waiter just brings you paper plates. If I'm paying gratuity, I expect some level of service. Plus when we went, we sat outside and like a small swarm (not even joking) of mosquitos came for us and the pizza. It was pretty unappetizing to see mosquitos land on and off our food. They need some netting for the outdoor tent thing or a tiki torch situation. All in all, I probably wouldn't make the trip out here again, but if you're nearby and looking for take-out pizza that is a slight cut above &pizza, give it a try! read more

The upstairs was just as nice with French jazz music playing. The waitress was very sweet. We ordered the Bloomingdales and the Crispus Attucks. Two thumbs up. The service isn't exactly fantastic (or quick for that matter). My orders have been messed up multiple times (and while its been taken take of afterwards, it is a bit frustrating when it happens almost EVERY time).
