TORN on this place. If you want a greasy spoon great breakfast joint this place is it. I had a killer western omelette. Portions were big, fast service, friendly server, etc. BUT....the place is really run down & outdated. I used the bathroom & it was dirty, unmaintained, broken paneling (yes wood paneling), stained ceiling tiles, grime, etc. If it is this way here god only knows what the kitchen looks like! This was our breakfast place every Saturday morning and late nights. The waitresses are so nice and would often hold the baby and walk around with her so we could eat. We witnessed roaches in the restaurant a few years ago and haven't been back since. Recently an elderly family member tripped on the step walking in and was injured. No one helped. Her husband went inside for help getting her up off the floor and to ask someone to call 911 and there was no sense of urgency, no apology no concern and no phone call made. When I go to a diner at 3am at the tailend of a long night of libations, I want two things: a solid breakfast and a pleasant server. During my first trip to Babe's I was lucky to have both. I have no idea how the rest of the food is, but I would guess its typical diner fare. I went with a simple cheese omlette, home fries and toast...all were on point and the omlette was huge. You know the food is satisfying when all conversation halts at your table and is replaced with chewing and silent nods of approval at each other. Our waitress was all business but very pleasant. She either overheard or took notice of the fact that one of my friends was 1 egg short on his plate...either way it was brought to the table in a way that made me trust there was no spit in it. And seriously, at that hour, I probably wouldnt have blamed her. Babe's is just right for these kinds of nights...when its so late that all you want is breakfast before passing out. This is exactly the type of place you would imagine when you think of a diner. Don't let the older, rundown look fool you, the menu is expansive and food is fresh and flavorful. We had a diner favorite, mozzarella sticks which did not disappoint and greek chicken wrap which had a ton of chicken and the dressing was great. I went to Bebe's Place on 1/1/2014 at 3am. IHop in Providence, had a two hour wait (seriously!) and my boyfriend and I had a hankering for a GOOD breakfast. We found Bebe's Place on Yelp. The staff is quick, friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. Their pancakes are better than what Ihop serves! The enviroment is of a typical run-down diner and I wished for the bathroom to be a bit cleaner; Which is why I took one star away from them. As a first timer here, I don't really think I'd like to go back. The lighting in this place is god awful, it reminds me of my highschool cafeteria. From what I've heard, the food here isn't half bad, although I wouldn't know because the only thing I've eaten from here is a salad. The people I went with had been there a couple times before and commented on the waitress's unusually unfriendly mood that day. You won't feel comfortable unless you're in your 40s - 70s or drunk. I always say that if you find a diner that looks like crap on the outside, chances are they have great food LOL. My husband thought I was crazy at first, but he believes it now! Not to say this place looks like a dump on the outside, but there are some letters on the restaurant that are not lit up anymore and it certainly isn't a fabulous set-up (one of the doors is blocked off for some reason lol) although the tables on the inside are brightly colored and interesting to the eye! When I first looked at the prices on the menu, I almost fell out of my seat. Chicken parm, something like $13!! That is unusual for a diner! But I ordered it because I figured you can't go wrong with chicken parm. First, they brought me a really nice cup of soup. Then a salad. Then bread. Then this ENORMOUS plate of chicken parm with pasta. By that time, I was amost full from the soup, salad and bread, and I had plenty leftover to take home! My husband was absolutely thrilled to find a place that has sausage gravy and biscuits, and since we found this place, we have yet to find another that has this. I went back with my son, and I splurged by getting a $15 seafood platter. You REALLY get your money's worth!! They brought out this gigantic plate of whole belly clams, shrimp, fish and scallops with fries. Unbelievable! I recommend this place when I am in the area with friends or family. The only thing is that their hours seem to be a little strange. My husband and I used to go Wednesday nights after he got out of class, but we tried to go on a Wednesday night recently, and it was closed. I love Babe's. The prices are cheap, and the portions are huge. I have had their breakfast and I have had their lunch/dinner. Everything you order is a large portion, and will definitely leave you full and satisfied when you leave. You get an added bonus when you get something from the lunch menu - because some of the items (all that i have ordered) come with a salad and a soup - and then you get a really large portioned meal. Most of the time I get the fettuccine alfredo - which comes with a salad, soup, and it looks like almost a pound of pasta for the meal. They are open 24 hours on the weekend, so you can fulfill all your munchie needs. I have never had a bad experience. I wish they didn't close so early on non-weekend nights - there have been several times on a Sunday night me and my boyfriend have wanted to get a good, quick bite at Babes, and they have not been open! :( read more

I worked here as a busser and lets just say the owners a complete piece of shit. I worked for about a month and a half and i started to realize he was shorting my tips so i politely asked why my tips were being shorted. This place used to be good, but the last several times have been really disappointing. Today was the last straw. I ordered eggs Benedict and my wife got an American cheese omelet, and we shared a side of corned beef hash . Two of my eggs were hard boiled; the third one had runny whites. My wife's toast was charred and had no butter. Our corned beef was cold and mushy. And we couldn't complain about any of this because we never saw our waitress again after she delivered our food. Basic manners to customers, or other people, in general, like "thank you" seem to not be commonly practised here, at least from this customer's experience... To start they put myself and my 2 kids, both under 10, in a 5 person booth (ridiculously big) then we wait about 5 mins til someone approached to take drinks. We get our sodas which tasted like pure chlorine, so I asked for new ones, different types and it took another waitress to point out to her that she forgot about us (10mins later). We then order our food... mine came with a soup, or was supposed to, because the waitress never brought and then she states she realized it once my food was in front of me. My child order a hamburger.. she got a cheeseburger... (good thing she isn't lactose intolerant). Overall the food wasn't that great and the service sure lacked as there wasn't any remorse for the mistakes being made. I waited another 10mins for her to take my payment...This will def. Be my last time here... this place wasn't busy and there really isn't a reason for the mistakes. When I leave here... still hungry.. This is our go to place for simple home cooked, comfort food meals on weekdays when we don't feel like cooking for ourselves, and breakfast on weekends. It's not fancy but the waitstaff are generally friendly, down to earth and accessible. We've had sandwiches, hot entrées, NE clam chowder, breakfast egg sandwiches, omelettes.... Every thing is very good, served in generous portions -so much so we almost always bring home the meals we can't quite finish. They are very busy and popular, especially during breakfast hours. This is an awesome place for breakfast. As others have mentioned, the portion sizes border on the insane. I'm a hungry guy and one omelet is two big meals for me. The prices are low for the amount of food on the plate, this place is a bargain. My wife and I both love this place, we always get a friendly waitress. It's a local favorite and it can get really busy in there. I notice some of the reviewers commented on the worn furnishings and outdated decor. I would suggest that fans of upscale trendy interior furnishings might want to avoid eating at diners in general.
