A place I never knew of I was taken here one night for dinner. It is a place where you can look at the menu and then sit down waiting for the order to arrive. It is simple and plan. Nothing fancy. As it was, there were not many tables taken at that time yet. But within 30 minutes the place packed up. It was locals who know this is a the place to go, grab a beer or cocktail, then sit down and wait to see what you ordered. Burgundian is a meal to enjoy while having conversations with many others. We started with the IPA beers we ordered. They also had good German beers to select. There are even other European beers available. The list is endless to have. First up to arrive was our Traditional Canadian Poutine. This is House Fries served with Cheddar Cheese Curds, hot beef gravy and fresh scallions. This can be a meal unto itself and is ideal with the beer. We also received a kids meal for a little one. It was chicken fingers and fries. It was so large an adult could have had this for dinner. There was enough left for the next day's lunch. It was fresh, tasty, breaded, and warm. Ideal. There was also Burgundian App Sampler Platter. This was a mix of 2 Arancini, 2 Halloumi Cheese Sticks, 2 Crispy Polenta "Fries" , 2 Wings served with a choice of dips. Again, it could have been a dinner, but with others it was a good dish to share while waiting for the dinner to arrive. We started with US Staycation Burger, switching the beef with chicken. It had melty Three Cheese Blend, Shredded Lettuce , Pickles, and topped with Burgundian mayo. Naturally there was a side of fries and a small salad. It was fresh and tasty and had a flavor to enjoy. Naturally, had to have Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles. Buttermilk-Fried Chicken Thigh coated in house seasoning. There was creamy Memphis slaw, a spicy sauce you can select and a good hot honey drizzle. The waffle was fresh and enjoyable and ideal for breakfast as well. This was perfect for dinner or breakfast or anytime of the day. One special they did have, and which is not easy to find, is a good Germany Burgundian Currywurst Sausage Dog. Made with a true grilled Knockwurst Sausage it is on a toasted roll that is topped with smoked gouda cheese and caramelized onions. There is curried ketchup which is a variation of what you do find when you order this in Berlin. It too had fries on the side. The taste was good. It was similar to what I remember when living in Germany. And it is a rare find in many restaurants. But here it was. And with a German beer, it was good. Overall, Burgundian is a place to find. It is not easy, but it is there. It is small and simple. You enter and order at the counter. You can go from Beer to a coffee. From an Appy to a meal. The portions are large. The prices are good. The team is good to work with, ask questions and help. This is not a fancy place, but they will take reservations. Your choice here. A true mix of flavors, and cultures, and ideas on what to have next. I will go back just for the Currywurst. Danke.

Food: - we shared the Traditional Canadian Poutine and it was so delicious! The gravy was more flavorful than most places I've had this at, the cheese curd was perfect and there was a generous amount of fries to share with 2-4 people. - I ordered the chicken and waffles and that was yummy! The fried chicken was delicious and crispy. Not too oily at all. The waffle was the right texture. I Would order it again. - my friend ordered the Chivito Smash Burger and she said it was good and very tasty. She said it kept her stuffed. - I also ordered the iced matcha latte. It was better than I expected. Service: The staff was so nice and helpful. We went during lunch time so things got pretty busy and at first we had no where to sit, and we had a 1 year old with us. But eventually we were able to find a spot and with a high chair. Ambiance: It's such a cute place! I love the layout. Super cozy and good natural lighting. Lots of people with their laptops when we went. So it's a good spot to work from as well.

Coffee is okay, but their waffles are fire! It's been a long time since I've made it up this way and they have updated their shop a little bit. It looked cute! This spot always has a community vibe. It has all sorts of people in there---those grabbing a coffee to go, people enjoying a meal and conversation, people working, and more. It has a cute inside space but their beer garden really impressed me! They have fliers up all over adverting all of the events they are hosting so you know when they're taking place and what you need to know about the details! I love that. They have specials posted as well and they all sounded amazing. I def will be back for a waffle and a cute event.

My husband and I went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning, while they were steadily busy it wasn't overwhelming crowded. You order, receive a number and find a table, they bring you your order and you enjoy!! There are plenty of tables, including high top, counter seating and your average restaurant booth. The food was delicious, warm and packed with flavor!! Oh and did I mention they have a full bar

You need to try a bunch of things from the menu! There's so many options from a bunch of different global cuisines - we had the classic poutine, pierogis and kielbasa, and a giant (MASSIVE) pretzel. The star of the show for me was the Oh La La Chocolat waffle. I want to wake up to one every day it was incredible. Best waffle of my life hands down. They have a ton of beers on draft, creative and tasty cocktails, and local ciders too! Super cute space - no TVs so it really encourages you to engage with each other. Also the staff is incredible! So kind, knowledgeable, and super helpful!

    Carne Asada French Tako

Been a Burgundian fan since the food truck ever arrived on the scene. Best liege waffles around, not even a close second and they know their way around every meal- breakfast, lunch and dinner. This spot is newly renovated and it's got a charming German inn feel to it, beautiful wood and accents everywhere. Recently went for the French tako Tuesday special and it was a great first experience for the French tako. Essentially a California burrito. Deceptively filling. Of course had to get a waffle. We made our own with ricotta, raspberries, Nutella and cookie butter. Fantastic combo and highly recommend. This might sound like an ad, I promise it's not, I just love it. Try it out if you haven't, you've been missing out.

I stopped at Burgundian for the first time as part of the RI Food Fights Burger Blowout. I've heard great things about this place from multiple people but never had the chance to check it out. It was pretty quiet when I got in but got busier within the hour. The menu is pretty simple but since I came in for the burger, I ordered the special burger they created for the contest. This burger was perfectly cooked and one of the best I've had so far. Definitely top 3 on my list. They have a wide variety of drinks to choose from as well. I really enjoyed my time here and recommend this place to anyone looking for a great burger in the area. I'll definitely be back!

Leige waffle with homemade caramel sauce and whipped cream

I thought I had previously written reviews for here, but an "update" is not coming up. I have been at least 4 times and have always been very pleased. Great food! Yesterday I got the chicken and waffle with ancho chili maple butter and it was great. So flavorful. I also got a waffle with homemade caramel sauce and whipped cream for dessert. So good! Consistently five (plus) stars in my opinion.

Was told to go here for the Chicken and Waffles and wow, what a delicious recommendation that was! The whole experience was great. The staff was friendly. Ordering at the counter was easy and then they bring your meals to your table. Ambience, lighting and decor did make you feel like you were somewhere Europe. My partner had the sausage dog and we shared pierogies--all the food was yumm and we will be going back for sure, especially for the chicken and waffles!

The German inspired Wurst was the BEST!!!
    Sebastian B.

I found the funkiest place in the area. I couldn't get a fix on this joint, look it up on Yelp. It's menu is all over the map. Sweet and savory, European and middle eastern. Dang!!! they even have Mexican inspired plates. I settled on a German inspired wurst and polenta fries. Everything was phenomenal even the French side salad. Polenta fries that were creamy inside and so crunch outside Homerun! It's food that's was from all over the world and I wish I was local because the place is a fantastic food find. The young lady behind the counter was made for hospitality. It's inspiring to see someone so good at their profession. The ambiance is pub like but there's great art on the walls and really chill entertaining instrumental tunes which spanned from regge to blues to jazz and mello rock. Here is a place that offers breakfast lunch and dinner with a wide variety of cuisine even a bar!!! The locals have not a clue how unbelievably awesome they have it with this place in their neighborhood.

    The Elvis with fried chicken
    Stef S.

WOW. I've been here for brunch but never for dinner and all I can say is WOW! First time I've ever enjoyed eating a chicken thigh in my life. My daughter and I had the Elvis waffle, bacon, banana, PB and honey, topped with fried chicken. My wife had a Mexican chicken sandwich and our daughter's boyfriend had a smash burger. We all loved our meals. My waffle was crispy and that fried chicken thigh was magical! We had two dessert waffles, the PB cup waffles and the banana churro. Both were great. I've had the churro waffle before but I could never get enough of it. It's the perfect dessert. The PB cup waffle was good but needed a smidge more of chocolate syrups. The inside of this place is adorable. I love that you order at the counter and seat yourself. They have outdoor seating in the back too! I'm the only one that drank alcohol so I was happy to see they had Long Live on draft! I love this place and you will too if you love waffles or just good scratch food!

There were very few redeeming aspects to the meal, and we left feeling both disrespected and unsatisfied as customers. The issues started right away. We ordered drinks--including a pear mocktail--but were brought the wrong ones, and then they attempted to charge us for those incorrect drinks. In hindsight, the cocktail mix-up should have been a warning of what was to come. The pear mocktail itself was also quite bad. The service felt chaotic throughout the night. We asked multiple times for additional servings of steak and fries, but were largely ignored. Meanwhile, nearby large tables were repeatedly served, cleared out entire trays, and still received more attention from staff. For an all-you-can-eat steak frites offering, we each received only one serving despite several requests. As for the food itself, it did not make up for the service. The steak was just okay--some pieces were chewy and overly fatty, though acceptable if refills had actually been provided. The fries, however, were terrible. Our first serving was so hard it was nearly inedible, and the only refill we received was just as bad. I also ordered the spinach risotto, which was slightly better than the steak, but it was so salty I couldn't finish it. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

We arrived a little early and were escorted to a cozy lounge before being guided to our table, a corner spot right under the restaurant's big windows. From the moment you walk in, you can see how elegant it is, and yet it's not pretentious at all. I spotted people in sneakers and Birkenstocks alongside others who were dressed up which worked out since we'd spent the day sightseeing and were dressed a bit more casual. We started with the escargot, which was delicious, served out of the shell with toasted sourdough. The complimentary bread was also some of the best I've had and I'm not just saying that because it was free. The wine list was extensive but had something for every price range. We picked a delicious Bordeaux for just $80, which was less than I expected to pay at a restaurant of this caliber. My husband ordered the Cornish hen and I had the duck on a bed of risotto. Both were amazing, and the portions were huge. I ended up taking half my duck home which I really wasn't expecting. The duck was delicious but my husband's hen might have been just a bit better; it was so juicy. We also got a side of the horseradish mashed potatoes; divine. I went in expecting small plates and precious portions like most elevated French spots so this was a welcome surprise. We ended with the crème brûlée, it had the most perfect "glassy" top; might be the best I've had. The service was next level throughout. I'm sure I would have had a much better lunch at one of the other participating French restaurants with lower priced menus. It's a shame because I loved Bistro du Midi the prior 2 times (not for Dine Out). 2 stars because 2/3 of the meal tasted alright (but not great), generous portions, and the location. Even at the very back of a completely packed downstairs, with the fully open front it was nice to see the Public Garden bridge posts and trees behind the cute patio. All of the staff were polite. However, overall service was slow, uncoordinated, and aggravatingly difficult to flag down. 3 people (not counting the hostess) came to my table before my assigned server finally introduced herself. Then 2 others came to refill water, serve, or take dishes. With 6 people providing service it was shockingly difficult to get any 1 person's attention. Literally nobody looked in my direction as they rushed by, and it took way too long for me to successfully wave down someone. I'd been hoping to get my check and pay 20 minutes earlier, which would have made it a reasonable 1 hour lunch for 1. I took photos just for a record, not because I loved the presentation: Cauliflower tartare: I was most excited to try this. It was indeed unique, but in a weird, not enjoyable way. I felt slightly queasy after eating it. It was too oily for truffle yogurt and cauliflower. The shriveled tomatoes tasted awful, and I normally like all kinds of tomatoes. The beet chips were the best part, and it wasn't even mentioned on the menu. Chicken Paillard: A huge piece of pounded thin, nicely breaded, pan-fried chicken with a mess of greens unattractively dumped on it (a very similar visual for the hanger steak next to me). I can't stand arugula, which also was missing on the menu. The frisée was also not appetizing. I would have asked for substitute greens but was already weary of trying to get attention from service and noticing the time slipping by. The chicken was tasty, including leftover for dinner, with the breading still fairly crisp. Chocolate & caramel torte: This had the potential to be 5/5 stars, or 4/5 if they simply repackaged the same elements. Desserts, especially French ones, should wow and delight. I saw a similar to my reaction from the table next to me when theirs finally arrived (after they wondered aloud where their tortes were). Their faces said: "oh... hmm... well, hope it tastes good at least." The first bite was a flop... visually and experientially: as soon as the spoon cut through the soft caramel mousse and hit the first layer of flourless chocolate sponge (which was more a thick fudge texture), it pushed the chocolate part out, making an ugly and uneven mess just trying to get the first spoonful all the way through. It would have been better to just have 1 layer of each instead of 2 each stacked. The caramel ice cream and taste of the other elements were good enough to take more than 1 bite but not "wow", and the packaging of it left much to be desired. It pains me to write this because previously I'd have said Bistro du Midi was a Boston area favorite. But I really regret this Dine Out meal, and I hope they take this feedback and others' to do better like I think they're capable of. I'm not sure I'd go back unless I picked the exact same dishes I got before (the Spanish octopus and 2 kinds of fish were standouts).
