Patriot Diner has been in this location for decades. Breakfast is available "all day" for those who enjoy pancakes at noon. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Counter seating, booths and tables in typical diner style. We arrived between the breakfast and lunch rushes and were seated right away. Restaurant was about half full on arrival and mostly full when we departed. Waitress seemed a bit over worked poor thing. Food took a while to arrive and as we were talking it didn't much matter. Just fyi. Everyone's meal arrived as ordered and everyone enjoyed their food. I had eggs and pancakes and found the pancakes plenty sweet even without syrup. Eggs were cooked nicely, just as ordered. Prices are reasonable. Waitress kept an eye on us and brought what we needed. Restrooms are clean. Plenty of parking around the building. Stopped here before I went to the DMV and as soon as I walk in, the waitress Tammy took care of me. Immediately offered me coffee, called me every term of endearment in the book. She made me feel like I was in someone's home. The food was delicious, Tammy wouldn't stop talking about how they had the best pancakes. And they were delicious pancakes. Two gripes; waitress, although she was very pleasant, she didn't come by for coffee refill. 2nd gripe, Italian bread wasn't Italian ​although it was 50 cents extra. It was more like Texas toast. Growing up as a 2nd generation Italian- American in an Italian neighborhood, belive me, that was not Italian bread. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Seemed to be a favorite for locals. My oldest daughter warned us not to go, saying it wasn't like it used to be. Unfortunately, she was right. It had been a while since our last visit, and this place used to be very good. This time, not so much. Everything came out overcooked. The omelette and eggs were dry, and even the eggs ordered over easy had a strange, gelled texture instead of soft, runny yolks. The hollandaise sauce was broken with an odd orange color and smoky flavor, and the potatoes were mushy and unappetizing. Overall, the food quality was a big disappointment. The only reason this is getting two stars is because the service was genuinely great. Otherwise, I'd suggest finding another spot for breakfast, or hopefully ownership can bring in a cook who knows how to execute classic breakfast dishes properly. read more

Ordered some takeout for Super Bowl game festivities w my wife. Two burgers w fries and slaw - very good, but beef needed some seasoning. Had spicy buffalo wings which was like 10 segments and were breaded w buffalo sauce and some blue cheese. Good but not crispy. Potato skins were good and wife loved the onion rings. Wow! I can't believe I slept on this place. First off, the service was the most friendly I've seen in a long time, if ever. The server was so sweet, with such a positive attitude. She really tried to get to know us and was excited that we were trying this place for the first time. Now, let me tell you about their special breakfast sandwich that's served on French toast. It wasn't busy at all. We went in there for a late lunch. We were doing a sandwich, passport for Rhode Island food fights. I don't remember the name of the sandwich that they're offering this time, but it was a turkey breast sandwich, nice sliced turkey with lettuce, tomato cheddar cheese and honey mustard dressing. I thought that it was a cold sandwich, but it ended up being more of a hot sandwich because they grilled it so we kind of heated everything up, which didn't really do well for the tomato and lettuce, but I just took it off. It was OK.. So we got that my husband I split it with a side of sweet potato fries inside of steak fries. They were both good except the sweet potato fries ended up being overcooked so because I have braces, it was painful for me to eat them, but they had regular steak fries so white the steak a few of the steak fries which weren't too greasy and nothing. She did end up going back and making me another order of sweet potato fries, but and they were much better than the first one like they were definitely much better than the first one, but they weren't as big as the first order so that was kind of like a letdown, but that's OK next time. The server I don't remember her name, but she was super nice and friendly. She had talked about how she worked other places and stuff before, and she was there now, and she really liked it. How different things about that I like the fact that the time of the day went in that there was only like five of us total in the whole restaurant which I like that because I hate when it's super busy and I feel like I'm not them being rushed, but I feel like I wanna hurry up and get out with other people can sit down. Wow! Finally a good ol fashioned diner right out of sitcoms of old. The staff is expressive and impressive. The cook is truly an artisan and the decor is vintage 1950's classic "greasy spoon". So much value from classic comfort food. It doesn't matter if you belly up to the stools facing the cook or if you grab a 2-top table or booth you are quickly served. Really, I think it was 15 seconds after I parked my butt into my chair that I got an i e cool beer to get me started. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and substituted fries for pasta. The waitstaff didn't bat an eye and got me my dishes toot-sweet! My meal came with a healthy side salad and fresh homemade chicken soup (New England chowder was the other options this day). They give you a ton of food! So much so that you'll be begging for a "to-go" box well before you'll get down to digging in your goodies. To be fair and balanced, of the dishes served up I had some issues with the chicken parmigiana. Not that is was bad, because it was far from that. I wasn't the biggest fan of the marinara sauce. It was a little under seasoned. That's not a big deduction from their ledger. I get generalizing the taste to serve multiple pallets. I like more spice in my sauce. Hadn't been to this northern RI institution in a very long time. Visited for breakfast on a busy weekend morning and was seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and efficient, keeping the coffee mugs full the entire visit. The menu has lots of great sounding options, but I chose my breakfast standby: cheese, mushrooms and bacon. My loyal fans know that bacon is the only red meat in which I indulge - on occasion. Going out for breakfast is one such rare event. The meal was served with hash browns, which were very good - not overly seasoned or salted. The toast was perfectly done with just enough butter slathered on. The omelet itself was piping hot with a generous amount of cheese, mushrooms and crisp bacon inside as well as two strips on top. The menu was quite extensive. Everything from burgers, wraps, dinners to all day breakfast. I ordered the mushroom bacon cheese burger and it was fantastic. I got the supreme because it comes with soup, coleslaw, fries and lettuce and tomato. Ordered the fries extra crispy, the patty medium rare and it was flame broiled. It came exactly like I ordered it. The bacon was crispy, fries were extra crisp, coleslaw was a 8 out of 10 (I'm a coleslaw snob), lettuce was crisp and tomato was fresh. They have a variety of hamburgers and chicken burgers, triple deckers, and unique options like a fried seafood platter and fried chicken in a basket. I ordered the gyro with fries and a cup of New England clam chowder. The chowder was really good. The gyro was good. I only wish that the tzatziki sauce was less thick. It had the texture of cream cheese, which was odd. But the gyro was still very tasty. The fries were frozen, but not bad. I liked the home fries better. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and was very full. The service was really good. The servers work as a team and everyone had a great attitude.
