Growing up in Chepachet, there have never been any other coffee shops besides Dunkin Donuts. When the Village Bean moved their location to "down town" Chepachet, this was a welcome addition. The building has a cute, old-country charm and is spacious inside, offering dine-in and takeout options. I stop by here when visiting family and grab an iced coffee and breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito is large, tasty and priced fairly. The coffee however is always disappointing. It tastes like it comes from those Green Mountain coffee pods you would use at home. (they might actually use Green Mountain coffee?) I understand Chepachet is a classic country town, so a true coffee shop is hard to come by, but it would be a nice change to see them up their coffee game. Maybe take advantage of that untapped market ;) read more

The two is for the food only. Service was good. The broccoli cheddar soup was the soup of the day and it was super chunky and curdled and did not taste good at all. The chicken sandwich was ok but could have been placed a bit nicer on the toast. It was not spread evenly at all and a lonely leaf of lettuce didn't do the trick. Red onion should be sliced thin to go on a sandwich at least that's my opinion. My friends waffle was more cold than hot. Butter was not spreadable. I would not go back. read more

The Bean serves an old fashioned breakfast that is superb along with a list of specialty pastry's that can only be found in the area. Wow what an epic waste of time. This place is a shit show. Walked in waited about 5 minutes to be greeted was told a few minutes. Stood there for about 10 minutes (there were 2 open tables). I was excited to try this local small business for lunch with my daughter, son in law and grandchildren. We got there just after noon. About 6 to seven tables were occupied. 3 tables had not been cleared and one still had the tip on it. There were only two workers that we saw, one waiting tables and the other behind the counter. A 'wait to be seated' sign greeted us. After standing for several minutes, the counter person finally acknowledged us and said they'd be with us in a moment. We were tooling around the wilds of Western Rhode Island one day and got hungry. There's not much out this way, but as we unintentionally meandered toward the village center of Chepachet, we saw the Village Bean. It was busy but we were pointed to a table for two to the right of the door against a wall. Overall, the restaurant was underlighted and dark. The air conditoning was blasting and it was freezing. We ordered tuna melts on rye with sides of potato salad and orange juice. The juice tasted metallic, which happens sometimes with frozen OJ. The potato salad was drenched in mayo. The tuna melt was pretty good. I think there was music playing overhead. Two really obnoxious loud women sat behind us which added another level of sensory overload. Service was fine, nothing to complain about there. Lots of folks going in and out with take-out. read more

Ate here for the first time. Had a wrap with tiny bits of chicken, lots of croutons and dressing and lettuce. I think there was supposed to be feta cheese in it but there was none. I was hungry so I ate most of it. Thank god we shopped first in the area because by the time we made it home I was sick as a dog. I hadn't had food poisoning in a long time. I went to the Village Bean Café first time. Cute decorations, Variety of seating, and they had different products on the menu. I got a BLT and soup. The waitress asked me if I wanted a whole BLT or half of a BLT, that would make it a combination with the soup. When I receive my lunch the soup was very good and had great vegetables in it. The soup wasn't too salty. The BLT it was kind of small. I guess maybe I thought It was going to be more like a club, but the bacon was crispy and the sandwich did come with a variety of breads. The meal came with a pickle no chips. I did get a cinnamon roll which was tasty. Plus an ice tea (bottle). All together The meal was around $16 not bad. read more

My favorite kind of find is when we're out and about with no destination in mind and see a sign that looks cool so we stop. In this case, we thought we'd just get coffee but sat down and looked at the menu and were hungry so stayed for breakfast and never did get any coffee. Menu for both breakfast and lunch looked fantastic. I was in the mood for a basic breakfast so I went with the Mama Bean which came with eggs (your way), home fries, toast and hash. Yum. I have to say everything was made perfectly. Toast had the right amount of butter and was so good- I went with rye bread and it tasted freshly baked. Eggs over easy were heavenly. Home fries cooked great and the star of the meal was the hash. So good! I could eat a plate of that! Better yet, I felt great after the meal. Sometimes when I have breakfast out I feel a bit greasy after but not this time. My dining partner got the omelette and it was packed with veggies. They made it to order (feta cheese and no onions) and it was a hit. I didn't even get offered a bite that's how much he loved it. Nothing left on our plates - we loved the food. Plenty of parking, a lot of open booths when we arrived but it was after the breakfast rush and the prices were amazing for the quantity and quality. This has been one of my go to breakfast places since the start of the pandemic. I love that they serve breakfast all day. I love everything from their French toast, to their home fries, bacon and eggs. My son really likes their Belgian waffles. We've never had a bad breakfast here so we can't complain! Quaint little to medium size shop w/ high tops and regular size tables & booths. I like a place that plays homage to its area, historical pictures a plus. So I'm not sure if I don't't like the taste of New England brand coffee or dairy pure 1/2 & 1/2 but I couldn't get a whole cup of coffee down, which makes me sad. It took a little while (longer than most breakfast places) for the food to come out, but it was a little busy, about 3/4 full. When my pancake arrived and the butter wasn't melting, I knew right then it wasn't going to be above maybe room temp. The blueberries were plump n juicy but not enough for this Blueberry lover. (Picture loaded) I ordered my eggs over medium, but the came out over done. Hash Browns were seasoned ok, but I like them to have crispy edges and you won't find that here. The bacon was very tasty but I think it was cooked alot earlier since it was more chewy than crispy. All in all it wasn't BAD, ingredients are fresh and I would give them another try. read more

What s joke! Went to breakfast Monday there had to be 6 people on staff. We walk in sit down (in front of counters ) as the waitress walks by us 3 times. Finally I get up and ask is there table service, she reply's oh sorry it was my turn I forgot. She takes our order from behind the counter, the cook brings out the food, they never check on us, we could have just walked out without paying and no one would have know. I had to go get the check and pay at counter. Meanwhile people are walking in getting menus and being waited on. Today I said the hell with the village went down to excellent breakfast in Harrisville, every booth was full, there was only one waitress and we got great service. I really hope they get their act together! There is a reason you are slow and the place down the street is booming!!! read more
