Huge fan of this place ever since it opened up and I discovered it. They stay truly authentic to some of the dishes to the area of their origin and how it is made there. That's the best part. I have recommended this place to quite a few people and it's been liked by most. Well, starting off, I sill do not know the origin of the name (the fact that it has salads in it!), but does not matter. Pretty upscale location, next time Inchins Bamboo and a couple other restaurants and bars in North San Jose! Retail parking is available. I rate this place 4.5/5. Coming to the food, I highly recommend these, Kizhi Parotta (Chicken) - as already stated in plenty of other reviews, this is one of their trademark dishes. Portion size is huge! It's basically wrapped up parotta with their chicken curry and I must say, the chicken curry is great - huge portion to be honest and juicy well flavored chicken, with a hint of coconut. It will fill you up. Parotta with chicken curry - I have also tried this version of the above dish and this is also great. The parotta is flaky as it's supposed to be. Chennai Chicken Biryani - being from Chennai, I love a Chennai style Chicken Biryani! What is it? It's a long grain(basmati) mildly flavored mughlai style bone in chicken biryani. It's hard to describe but I really like the flavor. One thing I'd say is I like spice in general but they don't customize the spice of this - and in general this is how the Chennai Biryani tends to be. I have also had some of their other dishes like the Kathi roll and the paneer tikka and they are pretty decent too. I hear they had a banana leaf style thali before but I have not tried that. I had their weekend buffet once and most of the food was pretty good. It had the Chennai Biryani, Parotta, a butter chicken, tandoori fish (very good), and some other vegetarian dishes I don't seem to remember right now. Service can sometimes be slow because they employ lesser people but it is not that big a negative. You'd probably keep repeating if you try their best dishes, I certainly will! read more

It was a Friday evening and it's not busy here. We're a bit worried that maybe the food is subpar. There is a vegetarian Indian Thali restaurant just a couple stores down. We've been there and it was pretty good. We decided to give this establishment a try. It certainly did not disappoint. I hear they serve lunch meals on leaves. We'll have to come back to try that. Here's my quick take: + Kizhi Parota is flaky bread like pratha that is smothered in tasty curry inside of a leaf. We chose egg but you can choose chicken or vegetarian. This is a unique dish for us. I enjoyed the savory curry. I love the pratha texture after it is soaked in the curry sauce. It comes with 2 eggs. (5/5) + Chai tea is very good here. Just add 1-2 packets of sugar and you'll get a little caffeine and sugar rush to help get you through the evening. (5/5) + Hyderabadi Chicken Briyani is standard. Although the chicken is boned, the meat just falls off so it's fairly easy to eat. The side of sauce can be mixed into your rice for more of the deep flavors. (4.5/5) - Gobi 65 is a fried cauliflower typically seasoned with Indian spices. I didn't taste much spice although I see them. It was a bit salty after a few bites. (3/5) - Appam Fish Curry has a tomato based curry that is a bit sour in flavor. It comes with appam which is a pancake that is somewhat spongy and crispy (near the sides). The flavor of the curry and what I guess is Basa fish just doesn't work for me. (3/5) We ordered via QR code and our phones. It's a clean restaurant with modern plasticy decor. It almost feels like an IKEA. You get your own plates and utensils but the lone cashier/server refilled our waters. read more

This place is a hidden gem. I advice that you call a head of time on what they have available to dine-in vs. take-out. I ordered the kizhi parota with mutton curry to go, and that was wrapped in a banana leaf. It was so good. A little taste of home. My friend got the non-veg thali which also comes with a banana leaf that you can use to eat it out of. The place is small but the variety of dishes is really good. Definitely coming back. read more

My friend and I decided to meet at B3 Boyz Dhaba to catch up over lunch on a Sunday. It was quite and we were the only ones there for almost 2 hours, even though there were takeout orders being served all the time. We loved the food, not very spicy but flavorful. They had some Kerala style dishes and they were really good. Appam, Idiappam, and Porotta were delicious. read more

Worst service, tasteless food , negative ambiance.... NOT WORTH your money. I wish yelp gives me option to give negative star rating read more

The Salads and Fusion tagline is misleading, please change the name! If I had just read the name I never would have guessed they offered such tasty South Indian food. The kizhi parotta is a real treat, wrapped in a fresh banana leaf. Definitely not something you see on most other menus. You can choose veg, egg, chicken, or mutton. The appam was great as well, and so was the chicken biryani. Raja our server was very friendly and attentive. Some of the best service I've ever received at an Indian restaurant. Highly recommend! read more

So I came here for a quick bite and ended up staying longer than planned cause the whole place just had a nice energy to it, the staff were really cool and not fake-nice like you sometimes see, they actually seemed to enjoy being there and made the whole vibe feel laid back, I ordered a few things and every one of them came out looking good and tasted better than I expected, there's a kind of balance to how they season stuff here, not trying too hard to be different but also not boring, just good food that feels thought out, the sides were solid too, not just filler, and the sauces really brought things together without being too heavy, I also liked how they kept things moving without making you feel rushed, it's not often you find a place where the pace is just right and the people are kind without being all over you, pretty sure I'll be stopping by again sometime. read more

Personally felt this place is a hidden treasure. It's very rare that you would still feel hungry after a good Indian meal - goes to say about the quality and freshness of food at the restaurant. The service was overall pretty warm and the restrooms were pretty clean. Dishes : 1. Kizhi Parotta - Tried both the chicken kizhi parotta and the Veg kizhi parotta. The parotta's were fresh, crisp and rightly soaked in chicken curry making ky an amazing experience. The veg Kizhi parotta was coconut milk based and smooth. (Unique must try dish!!!!) 2. chicken 65 - Rightly spiced 3. Mutton Combo - The Biryani was pretty fresh and the overall portion size was pretty good. Would visit again just for the Kizhi parotta read more

we went here on Friday here around 7pm and noone was there, we still went to give it a try. The Chef itself was the server and the order was online using QR code, we got chicken 65 which was good, we also got a goat curry and parotta which was good as well. the hyderabadi chicken biryani was disappointing though, it had a lot of capsicum and wasnt at all like Hyderabad biryani. read more

Ordered takeout through Yelp and the food was ready in less than 30 min. Parking garage is right next to the restaurant so was easy to go pickup the food. Ordered Hyderabadi chicken biriyani and Tawa fish fry. Loved the food! The Hyderabadi biriyani was yummy with the right amount of masala and around 4 large pieces of chicken. The quantity is also really sufficient for 2 adults. The Tawa fish fry was more like Fish 65 and looked oily. But the fish was too good and just melted in the mouth. Marination was the right amount and so was the spice level. Had around 8 big pieces of fish. They also gave us a complimentary chicken dish which happened to be chicken pepper I guess. Anyways the chicken pieces were so tender and the curry was good. Overall tasty yummy food and can't wait to try more dishes and their unlimited weekend buffet. read more

Have to admit, I avoided this place for a while because they took over my favorite salad place that used to be here. But I finally caved, and tried them, and I'm glad I did. They have this sliced egg sandwich that I quite like. The service is quick, and the server guy is really helpful. Win, win, win. read more

We came here for lunch today to try somewhere new and were not disappointed! The food is very delicious and the prices are also fair. The gentleman who was working was also tentative he offered us ice cream as he notice one of us could not handle the spice. We plan to come back thanks to the good food and service. Thank you! I guess one note is that the chicken biryani we got is a little spicy so if you only want it mild try the sandwiches which are also very good! read more

If I could give this place a negative score, I would. Let me break it down. Service - The person at the front desk who takes the orders seemed like they didn't want to be there. Half the menu items weren't available. The person didn't even know what some of the menu items meant. Food - It's mostly microwaved food in porcelain bowls. We were missing quite a bit of salt/seasoning. We got the appam, chicken curry, poori and mushroom curry. The appam and poori's were cold and hard. The curries were burning hot (temperature wise). It's a crime to serve mediocre Indian food when there are so many amazing Indian restaurants in the South Bay. For the quality of food and service, the prices are outrageous. $20 for one cold appam and microwaved chicken curry. Like I mentioned above, it should be a crime to be this mediocre. In addition, this place is also confused with its identity - they serve everything from a Caesar salad to idiyappam. Do me a favor, don't go here! read more

They have a traditional banana leaf meal on weekends. It seems unlimited but the items were fewer than other places. The service was slow and often served less quantity - when I asked for seconds on an cauliflower appetizer the guy gave me exactly one floret. But why the 5 star review? Everything that I put in my mouth was excellent- not spicy but spiced right. It was like a home cooked meal served property in a banana leaf. We left the restaurant full. My only recommendation is to reduce the charge for kids - I believe it was $17-$18 for a 7 year old. Who only ate rice and roti. Also- please keep yogurt as a dish! read more

We went for the Saturday late lunch and they had an very interesting buffet . I tried their non-veg buffet and my friend chose veg . They have option to serve in banana leaf and interestingly they serve the food to you . This made me feel nostalgic like attending an old school Indian wedding dinner . The non-veg food was really good but didn't have much veg options to mix it up but I asked for veg times and they did. The veg food was ok . The ambience was cleans and nice but not upscale . For the price of $30 per person I was expecting more upscale dining experience, read more

Had the Pongal special weekend meal and it was a delightful array of flavors. The meal included Parotta , Mutton Curry, Fish Curry, Chicken 65, Chicken Biryani, White Rice, Rasam, buttermilk, Potato Fry, and a sweet dish. Each item was delicious and despite the portions being limited, it was quite filling. The cost was reasonable for the variety and quality offered. Definitely a satisfying experience for anyone who loves diverse and tasty cuisine. The service was good and ambience was nice. read more

Too good food. Kizhi parotta and Chennai chicken biryani are very good. Good portions.

Their food is good - quite homely.. i.e., doesnt feel like you are ingesting chemicals or foreign stuff. I find the service and their offerings a confusing mess. That's quite aptly reflected in their name! It's a wannabe They should remame the place from dhaba n salad bar to something simple Like B3B south (nice dig at a next door veggie place too :) ) Focus more on improving service and menu.. Half of the staff seems as confused as the name n menu would suggest read more

New business in town that doesn't look like much but the menu has some interesting food if you are from the southern part of India

Tried this place twice and decide to visit more! We have tried lamb roll, lamb sandwich, chicken sandwich and chicken rice plate and we love all of them. My personal favorites are their sandwiches! They are appropriately toasted - crispy surface but soft inside. The lamb sandwich is really good... I wish they can bring it back to the menu soon Lamb roll was more juicy and spicier than the lamb sandwich.. my mom really loves it! read more

Great food! Bit on the expensive side. Location and ambience is good. Should give it a try!

Biryani was yummy and the service was pretty good. They even gave us complimentary chicken curry!!

I've been a number of time and like the weekend special leaf thali. His variety and closest to what you would get back in south India.

I was told about this place by my cousins. As soon as I heard about their menu, I decided to go on a weekend for lunch. We as a family we're deciding what each one wants to have but when we reached there we came to know that lunch is their family special lunch that's served on a banana leaf unlimited. Well, while we are here let's try it we thought. It's not a very big place so seating is limited. I see a lot of take outs being taken by people, which could be because of the limited seating. Anyhow we had to wait for ten minutes and then we got seated. We were served with water and drinks that we asked for and then a banana leaf was placed for each one of us and one by one things started getting served. My initial thought was that it's a Kerala cuisine but based on some of the dishes that I tasted, it seemed like it's from Andhra too. We had asked for meat sadya but if you're vegetarian you do get everything vegetarian food. One gets a variety of veg and non-veg dishes, kerala parotta is served with chicken curry. It was such a delicious experience having hot, soft and tasty Kerala parotta and this chicken curry indeed was that of Kerala State. As I was relishing this, we were served with different types of biriyani. I loved the thalaserri biriyani the most as I am bored of dum biryani/Hyderabad biriyani, it's the same taste hence I didn't enjoy their dum biryani. So you will get two to three different biriyanis to taste and if you need more they will serve you more. One call out, if you have tasted fish curry from Kerala with kodam pulli in it then you will never like other fish currys because that's how the meen curry tastes, here the fish curry was not from Kerala. This feast was too much for me hence I didn't ask for seconds. They also give you buttermilk with spices added which has a very cooling effect for this hot weather. There's payasam and gulab jamun for dessert. It was delicious. The service is great, the servers are very polite and friendly. They have one restroom which is unisex and only one can go at a time. Overall we enjoyed our experience and we left with a plan to visit here for dinner so we can taste other items from their menu. If you're ready to try different southern Indian food then do visit them. Parking could be a little challenging as you will have to park across the street and walk towards this restaurant. Be patient and enjoy their hospitality. read more

I loved their Seeragasamba veg biryani, reminds me of our home biryani. The chicken 65 was pretty mid

Good combos at lunch. Wish they bring back the weekend full meal on banana leaf option.

Terrible food. Ordered gobi 65 and paneer wrap. Both had a lot of salt. Unedible. And on top of that my wife had food poisoning. Really bad.

Kili parota alias Oil float parota. Vegetable Biryani alias Tomato rice. Tawa fish alias pat with paper napkins

The taste was good. Moderately spicy like home food. Great for kids. The food stored in small bowls in the open which made it cold when served. Wish they had those heated containers to keep the food warm. The unlimited meals will feel overpriced if you are the type that doesn't eat a lot. The banana leaf is a nice touch but the tables are too small to hold the big leaves and if you eat with someone opposite to you the leaves overlap. read more
