Khow Suey (3.5/5) - my wife gives this a score of 3.5, which says a lot. Good amount of veggies but wished the broth was a bit thicker. Vietnamese iced coffee here is also good, but it's not one of the places that brings the little drip filter out to the table etc. in case you're looking for that (my coworker was hoping for it when we first came). The decor is fairly typical of a place run by the Supreme Master Ching Hai group, and the menu has the same vibe if not the same items (my sandwich-loving husband was dismayed by the lack of banh mi), which is a bit of a change from when I had been here previously almost a decade ago. I think it's a change for the better. The location is clean and the wait staff are friendly to the point of sometimes being suspiciously chipper, but it's actually pretty endearing. They also have a little mini market by the door where a few vegan dry goods and instant coffees can be purchased, although I haven't tried getting anything there yet since we're usually on our way back to work. Crispy, and there is salt and black pepper in it, but overall it doesn't have much flavor outside of the sauce. Lemongrass fish lunch plate modified to have soy beef (you can switch out the protein): The broccoli itself itself was just steamed with no flavoring, so that was underwhelming. But the lemongrass beef is pretty good, firm and chewy not spicy. One of the others in my party got the eastern duck soup, which has a stronger soup flavor, you can taste the anise. It also has shiitake mushrooms. It came with veggie drumsticks, on an actual stick, but just takes like soy protein, doesn't really taste like duck. I tried a bit of Cali pho too, which was mild but pleasant, it has a ton of vegetables. Overall I'd give it more of a 3.5/5, there were certainly some items that could've used better seasoning/flavoring, but I do appreciate the amount of options that are suitable for vegetarians and actually being able to enjoy noodle soups that would usually have been meat-based. They do have outdoor tables and at the time when I had gone, no one else was sitting outside.
