I never got there, but my husband raved about it from business dinners. Our birthday honoree wanted to come here. One of us is vegetarian, another GF and very allergic to solanaceae, and two don't eat fish. Usually Pakistani & eastern Asian cuisine is a good choice.
Three of us had masala chai, served in traditional glazed clay cups: I think cardamom was the top note. Ginger's the top note, followed by cardamom when I make it. It was blissful.
I have been wanting to try pani puri for a while, but don't think the delicate shells would survive delivery. Mouthgasms ensued from everyone. Next time I'm in an Indian restaurant, I'm getting that, as it was as tasty as it looks.
Samosas were ordered to share, and again, we were all happy. Because of the high simple carbs, I don't eat the usual one, but half of one was heavenly. Garlic naan & papad(ums) were ordered. They were the most flavorful papad I've ever tasted: don't know what the additional ingredient was, but I will certainly order that again. I asked our server, who might have been a manager, how many papadums were in an order. The answer was three, but he'd add a fourth.
It took us a while to choose entrees, and when we made our order, he looked at each of us, confirmed what we ordered--with no note pad. I was impressed.
I had the achari chicken kebab, absolutely wonderful spicing, with plenty of onion strips, nicely browned just short of caramelized. Our vegetarian ordered saag paneer, the honoree had her favorite butter chicken, and the fourth ordered seekh kebab.
We usually get a taste of each other's dishes, except the vegetarian, because meat.
We were very appreciative and enthusiastic of what we'd ordered. We couldn't have made our enjoyment more clear.
For dessert, we ordered an intense Malai (mango) kulfi, gulab jamun (dough balls in a honey sauce), too sweet for me, but still pleasant, and rasmalai, a sweet dough in a milky sauce, spiced with saffron, rosewater, cardamom, and pistachios.
We were treated to a plate of jalebi, which resembles funnel cakes, in a honey sauce. I've seen these at a Persian market, but don't know the name.
For all we ordered, the bill was modest, about $114. We added an ample tip.
This was the absolute best Indian food I've ever had! We had such a lovely time.
One thing I wish restaurants would do is to put their full menu online, instead of just popular items for delivery or pick-up. It gives you more incentives to dine in!
