Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 1 PM and were seated immediately. We ordered the Chicken Sukka, Parottas, Mutton Chops Biryani, Chicken Biryani, and the Dilkhush dessert. Service was quick, and our Chicken Sukka and Parottas arrived first. The Parottas were the highlight of the meal--soft, flaky, and delicious. The Chicken Sukka was decent but didn't stand out in terms of flavor. The biryanis were served with raita and salan. The raita was quite different from what I expected--it was mostly thick-cut onions with a small amount of yogurt. The salan was also fairly average and didn't add much to the meal. Both the Chicken and Mutton Chops Biryani were good. The meat was tender and cooked well, and the rice had good flavor. That said, I was expecting something more memorable given the restaurant's reputation. The biryanis were enjoyable, but not exceptional. We ended the meal with the Dilkhush dessert, which was decent and a nice way to finish, though it wasn't particularly memorable either. We had a disappointing experience with the food service hygiene during lunch visit yesterday. When we sat down, bus boy who had been clearing used plates and tables came to our table and placed fresh plates for us without washing his hands or wearing gloves. We mentioned this to our waiter, who apologized, explained that another employee was on a lunch break, and said he would address it immediately. However, over the next hour, we continued to see the same employee clearing tables and then handling fresh plates without washing his hands or wearing gloves. Since the issue continued after we had already brought it to the staff's attention, we also spoke with the manager before leaving. Sharing this as feedback because we left feeling that the hygiene standards we expected were not being followed. Ordered takeout from this Ranch Drive location on a Friday around 7:00 PM. Given the prime spot and premium pricing--well above the Bay Area average for Indian food--we expected decent quality. Instead, the meal was completely inedible. Tiny Portions: Appetizers cost around $16 each but came in small 6-8 oz containers that looked like kids' sides. Cold & Stale: We waited for the order, picked it up as soon as it was ready, and opened the containers immediately at home nearby. The $20 biryani was barely room temperature (makes you wonder when it was made), and both chicken appetizers tasted noticeably stale and old. Spending over $50 only to throw away all three dishes during a busy Friday dinner rush is a total waste of time and money. Came here for Mother's Day lunch with a large group of ~10 people. We were seated at a nice long table and enjoyed our experience here. They serve South Indian food and have quite a good variety of items on their menu. We ordered a mix of different things, including appetizers, entrees, rice and bread options. I was craving some Indian food yesterday for dinner so I came here with my family. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. The place is clean with lots of open ventilation, the table and seats are clean, the service is quick and very nice. There were all sorts of people eating here from different ethnic backgrounds which was also nice to see. You simply order from the QR code and then someone will take your order. The employees check on you and make sure you're doing fine. We ordered their Plain Dosa which was tasty and fresh. I love their crepe and the big portion of potato and onion filling. The dipping sauces all paired beautifully as well. The crepe itself is pretty big in size. I'm a huge fan of their butter chicken masala; It's the first time I had butter chicken with actual grilled chicken! The tandoori chicken is mixed with the butter sauce which is phenomenal! This paired excellent with their Parotta, a naan-type pastry puff which is thick and used like naan. I'm a huge fan of their mutton biryani!! This was served in this nice copper goblet with a generous amount of mutton meat. The sheep meat is tender and buttery which I like. The flavor is so good and goes well with the type of rice they use. Every dish we had during our dinner was fantastic. This is by far my current favorite restaurant for Indian food. Review for Dindigul Thalappakatti - Disappointing First Visit I visited Dindigul Thalappakatti for the first time today, encouraged by strong recommendations from friends and positive online reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had expected. The food overall did not meet the standard in terms of quality or taste. The Chicken Suka felt odd and completely out of place as an appetizer -- if it isn't intended as a starter, it should be served with roti or rice to make sense. The Chicken Biryani was disappointing -- either the meat wasn't fresh or had been overcooked, possibly from the previous day. The flavor didn't come close to the standards we're used to, even compared to places in the Bay Area. A friend dining with me, who visits regularly and is a big fan of the Kola Biryani, was also left disappointed with the food today. The Paratha wasn't properly cooked, and there seemed to be no thought put into the serving sequence -- appetizers, main course, and dessert were all jumbled together. Even the Mutton and Chicken Suka dishes didn't feel like appetizers at all; only the Chicken 65 stood out as decent. To make things worse, the service felt disorganized -- dishes arrived at random, and at times we were served curry with no rice or bread to go with it. Most concerning of all, I experienced health issues shortly after dining, including vomiting and diarrhea, which raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. My new favorite Indian restaurant! Their menu is so unique and the food was amazing. We got the egg parotta, mutton egg pepper roast, masala dosa, and the egg biriyani. The egg parotta was so good and fresh and came with a tasty curry to dip in. The mutton egg pepper roast was my favorite dish, the mutton was tender and so well seasoned and yummy. The masala dosa was also really good, it came with the usual chutneys and sambar, but the tomato chutney was especially good and unique. The egg biriyani was like none other I've tried before, they use seeranga samba rice and it's quite different than typical biriyanis, but it was so good and flavorful, even the raita was amazing. I have arrived around 12:30, they were pretty empty but around 1:30 whole restaurant was full and people were waiting outside. So, plan your visit accordingly. I have ordered sukhi mutton, chicken 65 biryani, parotta and kodaikanal chicken curry. The best are mutton and biryani. Curry was horrible and parotta was not worth it. Mutton is actually lamb chops with Indian spices. It was the best dish of all and I liked it so much that I ordered 1 more for to go as well. The chicken 65 biryani has crispy chicken pieces with short grain rice. So, I enjoyed it a lot. It is definitely different from other biryanis. The curry has shredded chicken pieces and tastes weird, pass on this. I felt parotta was expensive, just 1 piece is 4.49$. If you are looking for spicy Indian food with good ambiance and wanted to try something different, this is the place to go. Kuchi Mutton is awesome, but it only comes with 3 pieces for $15. It's still worth it imo. Mutton Kari Dosa is so good Gobi 65 - perfectly cooked, not oily at all, flavorful Chicken Boneless Sukka.
