Fun new eatery to check out, Hyderabadi cuisine! We grabbed lunch at Hashtag India in Milpitas and had a great experience overall. We ordered the Pachimirchi paneer, chicken tikka burger, veg puffs, garlic naan, street-style noodles, chai, and falooda, and every dish was flavorful and hit the spot. They are known for their very generous Mandi dish, which is a Yemeni dish that gained popularity in Hyderabad due to Yemeni immigrants. It's a combination of flavored rice and a variety of meats. The restaurant was super busy, which speaks to how popular it is, but the service was pretty slow & they were out of many food items as a result. The restaurant has regular seating and, in addition, cute closed booths where you can sit at a low table in the traditional Indian way. They also have some funky prison booths with handcuffs, etc. If you aren't in a massive rush, the food is definitely worth the wait for some solid Indian fusion and street-style favorites. We feel like we're back in Hyderabad when we go to Hashtag. They specialize in Mandi and Irani chai. The Zafran chai is beautiful, with pieces of dried rose and saffron. Rich without being too heavy. Mandi is a Yemeni dish that gained popularity in Hyderabad due to Yemeni immigrants to the city. It's a combination of rice and meats. The flavors are more Arabian. Served with Yemeni schug, a green chutney, and tomato onion sauce. I tried fish Mandi and absolutely loved it. The rice was seasoned with hawaij and toasted raisins and almonds, and the fish was nicely crispy and covered in a sauce similar to tikka masala, very tasty. They have a few different kinds of delicious yellow dal that make a great accompaniment to Mandi -- spinach, tomato, mango pickle. The menu is very extensive, with a wide range of Telugu dishes. We came here for the first time. Huge place and they have nice cute booths where you can sit at a low table traditional style. They also have some funky booths that represent prison cells. The ambience is overall exciting 5/5. We were surprised by the wide variety of dishes they serve. Biryani s, Mandis, Dosas, kebabs, chaat and many more. You name it and you can find it. We ordered Hariyali chicken and Chicken Fry Biryani. Hariyali Chicken was 4/5. It was nicely done, marinade was great. Enjoyed it. Chicken Fry Biryani was appetizing, served steaming hot, with fried chicken pieces. But the chicken was overfried, hard and had a lot of artificial color looks like, it looked super red. The biryani was not so much layered, so it was somewhere between biryani and pulao. I would still rate it 3/5. Would come back to try more on their menu. read more

But WOW... what a disappointment. The food was honestly a complete miss from start to finish. I ordered the basic Masala Dosa, and it came out so overdone and burnt that I was wondering if they forgot about it on the tawa. Then came the Chicken Kathi Roll... and OMG. Surprisingly good mandi with an Indian twist. We tried the mutton gravy mandi and it was absolutely amazing. The rice was flavorful and filled with nuts and raisins, which I really liked. For takeaway they give the meat and gravy in a separate container which kept the food from being soggy. The creamy gravy made this mandi a unique experience. read more

Me and my husband went to have dinner here on a weekday. I was a bit skeptical since they seem more trendy so they can be not so authentic but we were pleasantly surprised. My husband was looking forward to Mandi and Nali Ghosh. The food were amazing and come with large portion. For my Mandi, I was able to eat for 3 meals. I also love the baby corn and mushroom. The restaurant say they are self service but there are server that bring the food to you and clean up the table. You only need to get the utensil by yourself. If you want the floor sitting you would need to go when it is not so busy since everybody want those sitting and there are only a few cabin. read more

Came here at night. It was very packed even though it was quite late. I just got butter chicken and I didn't expect it but it also came with rice. There was a lot of the butter chicken so that was good and the rice was flavorful but I would be biting into something (probably like a peppercorn), which was unpleasant but whatever. Been here around 3-4 times in the last 3 months with different group of friends, initially tried this place for the hype around. Tried Mandi 3x, the taste was different all 3x, the quality dripping from good to below avg. Folks who are trying for first time, watch out for the creaminess on Mandi. If you are true a Mandi fan, don't try Bahubali Mandi, the shrimp and fish are loaded with bread, which is too bad. The Nallakaram Chicken we tried multiple times, out of all times, 1x was bad with chicken being so hard (probably became dry). Their Falooda is a must try for first time. Most of the items in their menu is only one time try. For Fry piece chicken biryani, after finishing eating, you can see the food color like stuck on your hands, not sure if that is food color or what. read more

We picked up dinner here on New Year's Day. There was a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant, but it was quite loud inside as the place was fairly busy. We ended up ordering for takeout on this evening, service was sufficient, and it was about a 20-minute wait for our food. We got the hyderabadi mutton curry (spicy), butter chicken (mild), fire naan, and butter naan. The butter chicken dish had pretty sizable chunks of chicken inside, a little too large for my liking and on the dry side. But it was fine as there was plenty of sauce to make up for it. The hyderabadi mutton curry was tasty but not very spicy, even at the highest level of spice. The naan was thin but otherwise of standard quality. Overall, we had a satisfying meal. read more

Stopped by Hashtag in Milpitas and it was actually pretty good. The chicken mandi and nalli ghost mandi were both flavorful. The garlic gobi was crispy and tasty too, but the nalla karam gobi didn't really hit the mark for me and the pachi mirchi chicken was okay. From the mains, the kaju paneer was decent. It's good food, but very specific Telugu taste. So if you like that, you will love this. Otherwise this might not be for you. We ordered the paneer mandi and the mushroom pepper fry. The paneer pieces were quite hard but the mushrooms were perfection. We also got a side of kothu parotta which was good but I would want to order something else next time because they have a super long menu. I have reduced a star because I felt that the food while good didn't seem specifically fresh to me. I think my friend also had a stomach ache but I was fine so can't really complain. Tried Hashtag India Restaurant in Milpitas and honestly loved it! The place has such a fun vibe with their Arabian Mandi-style seating -- perfect for hanging out with friends or family. We ordered a mix of veg and non-veg appetizers -- Punugulu, Cut Mirchi, Hashtag Chicken, Guntur Kodi Vepudu, and everything was so flavorful and crispy! The highlight though was the Bahubali Mandi -- it's massive, delicious, and totally worth the hype. Was looking for a late snack so decided to drop by this place to try it. Unfortunately met with very poor customer service and dismissive attitude from the guy in the Gap shirt. Wont say his name or offer any information about his manager that I can speak to about my poor experience here. Hashtag India recently opened up on the old Hub61 location. I came here on a Friday evening and it was packed. I wasn't able to order ahead of time from their website and ordered in person. I think they must be working out the kinks so the order took whole to be completed. Also, the good was ready at different times so half the food was already cold and soggy but the time we dug into the food. The menu is extensive so they're something for everyone. We ordered the following: Butter naan Garlic naan Samosa Chicken biryani Butter chicken Butter momo Street style noodles Cheese dosa I would skip on the street style noodles next time and the cheese dosa. Dosas need to be eaten fresh. Everything else was pretty good. We'll have to go back another time when it's not as busy to try some more items off the menu. read more

Food: We got 3 platters of goat and lamb for sharing plus some other chicken dishes. The lamb was juicy and fell right off the bone. Butter chicken was very good. Garlic naan had a nice crisp to the edges but still malleable for scooping up food. For dessert, apricot delight. I certainly did not share it with anyone. I was a good amount of creaminess and sweetness to wash off all the spice and aromatics from the main food. Overall, enjoyed our lunch. Ambiance: Place was bright and clean. We experienced the mandi booth. Shoes off before entering the soft padded floor covered by ornate rugs. You can see it in the pics. There were also outlets if you wanted to charge your phone I guess lol it was nice to have a private little spot with the family. Parking: super easy to find parking. We visited Hashtag India (#Milpitas)on a Friday evening with a group of 8 adults, 3 kids, and a toddler and had an excellent overall experience. The restaurant was busy, but our 7:30 pm reservation was honored on time, and parking was easy to find. Our host, SaiKiran, provided outstanding service -- attentive, friendly, and very accommodating with our large group. We ordered the "Mega Bahubali Mandi", which was a true feast with generous portions and flavors that everyone enjoyed sharing. We also tried the Apricot Delight for dessert, which was a perfect sweet finish, though the Irani Chai fell a bit short of expectations. The ambiance was lively yet comfortable, and our corner Mandi table gave us a cozy spot for good food and great conversation. The bill came to about $40 per adult, which felt reasonable for the quantity and quality of food and the overall experience. We purchased a box of Double Ka Meetha, and it had a foul smell and appeared to have gone bad. We reported it to the cashier and received a refund, but they then put the same box back on the shelf with the other Double Ka Meetha boxes. There was no apology, and they made no effort to check the remaining boxes to ensure they weren't spoiled as well. That's very concerning from a food safety standpoint. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Hashtag Indian in Milpitas. On two separate visits, I was served chicken that had visible blood inside. The first time, they replaced the plate without much concern. On my second visit, I informed the staff beforehand about what happened previously and specifically requested that the food be properly cooked. The staff member laughed when I mentioned it. When I again found blood inside the chicken, there was no apology, and my request for a refund was denied. Food safety should be taken seriously. I am sharing this so others can make an informed decision. I hope the restaurant improves its cooking standards and customer service. read more
