We were incredibly impressed by the stunning atmosphere of Azulik - both the restaurant and hotel are absolutely breathtaking. In fact, after visiting, we genuinely regretted not booking our stay there. We initially chose another hotel due to some of the negative reviews on Google, but after our lunch experience at the Azulik restaurant, we began to understand where some of that feedback might be coming from.
Upon arrival, the hostess didn't even greet us with a smile. Instead of a warm welcome, the first thing she told us was that we had to pay in advance and meet a minimum spend. While that policy wasn't a problem in itself, the delivery was far from hospitable and left a poor first impression.
Our server, Erik, unfortunately continued this trend. He didn't check on us once, not even to offer water. My glass sat empty the entire time. When my friend asked a question about the menu, he was distracted and looking at his phone, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. The food, to be fair, was excellent - a bit overpriced, but delicious.
Sadly, we couldn't help but wonder if the poor service had something to do with the fact that we were two women dining alone. We suspect we might have been treated differently if we were accompanied by men. The most disappointing moment was at the end: when we paid but didn't immediately hand Erik a tip, he laughed out loud. It was humiliating. We had actually planned to leave a tip on the table after leaving (even though it wasn't earned), but his reaction made that impossible.
To Azulik management: your space is beautiful, and your food is memorable - but service matters. Please invest in proper hospitality training for your staff. No guest should leave feeling disrespected. read more
