Not sure what exactly it was, but the bartender was super talented and can make any drinks based on what you like!! For food, we got the pickled vegetables, whipped feta, arancini and heirloom tomato toast. Our favorite was the whipped feta, it comes with foccacia bread and it was sooooo good. We were there at 5:45pm on a Saturday and only a couple tables were taken up so we got a spot no problem. I ordered the dirty Greek martini with no vermouth, which was basically a dirty vodka martini with feta brine and olive oil. It was smooth and mellowed out with the savoriness of feta and olive oil. Savory girls, this one's for you! My friends both enjoyed their tamarind tequila cocktail and the non-alcoholic blackberry sage smash. We ordered the whipped feta which came topped with wine-soaked pluots, aleppo pepper, and fermented honey. This was absolutely to die for when scooped up with the fluffy, warm pita on the side. My friends and I have not been able to stop talking about this appetizer. It is what every bread and dip should strive to be - simple yet well-executed, with layers of contrasting flavors and textures. I can't wait to come back, our waitress was so friendly and fun, the food and drink menus have much to be explored, and the ambiance is intimate yet relaxed. What a great spot in downtown Livermore!

We wanted to give the place a try since changing from Aviation to Azotea. We were seated outside on the rooftop and, as always, to view is awesome and the weather was perfect for outdoor dining. We ordered waters, a couple cocktails, an appetizer and 2 entrees. The cocktails came out fairly quickly and were really tasty - Passion fruit margarita & a Spritz! No glasses of water came out with the drinks, as requested. Our appetizer (Ceviche) came out shortly after and was REALLY good! It was my favorite item of the evening. We asked again for some water. After a few minutes our entrees arrived (fish tacos & grilled skewers). My hubby enjoyed the tacos. My skewers were so-so. I got 2 veggie skewers & 1 beef skewer. The beef was burnt to a crisp. The end pieces were literally like dry jerky! The middle pieces were tolerable, but still very well done. The veggies were ok. They are marinated in what looks like a pesto sauce but was pretty bland. Not bad, but not great. The plate comes with cilantro lime rice and mango salsa. The rice was bland and they are very skimpy on their serving of mango salsa, which was the only thing on that plate with good flavor! We ate and our cocktails long gone. No wait staff came to check on us and we were still waiting on our waters. Finally we flagged down our waitress to ask AGAIN for 2 glasses of water and our check. She returns a few mins later with the bill, AND NO WATER!!! How hard is this??? All in all, food was ok, drinks good but the service and wait staff are TERRIBLE!! Makes me wonder if they kept the same staff as they did at Aviation because they had the same crappy service?!! Don't think I'll go back and waste my money if that's what I'm going to get... read more

Update: ask around Livermore bars & even Livermore PD and they'll tell you about this place. Cover your drinks ladies. Horrible service, disturbed owner Theresa, incredibly disgusting chef named Margarita.. women are not safe here. And Theresa will blame you if staff is caught being inappropriate. They encourage staff here to be rude to customers. They also randomly charge extra if you have a big party, which is normal but they don't always do that which makes it ridiculous when you hear it's an extra $100 for 10 people. Their menus are disgusting and always have food all over them/sticky. They do not clean their bathrooms (they only have 1 so imagine how gross that gets). It's such a waste of money to spend here when you consider places like The Black Cat and others are just down the street. Better food, drinks, service, and no creeps bringing you your food. It's no wonder they changed their restaurant name. read more

Our experience at Azotea was extremely disappointing. The service was very poor and the staff, including both the server and the host, were unfriendly. We placed a simple drink order of one iced tea and a glass of wine, but it took 15 minutes just to receive the wine, and we never got the iced tea. We were visiting with a friend from Livermore, CA, and expected better service, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy. After waiting over an hour for our food, I went inside to check on our order. When I asked for a manager, the server informed me that they had "just stepped out," but I could see the server at the bar casually chatting with the bartender. The lack of attentiveness and long delays were completely unacceptable. I will never be returning to Azotea again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for good service or a pleasant dining experience. read more

Let me start by saying: we were denied entrance and never made it past the bouncer. This place has changed to a Mexican restaurant. My friends and I went on last night around 9, we heard the music and wanted to check it out. Upon the elevator opening, we are asked for our ID. My mom (in her 50's) was cracking jokes about how she's obviously over 21 and he was not sociable. He just kept saying "well I need to see it." My friend did not have her ID, but did have her passport. She asked if she could use that instead. He said no. We have NEVER experienced that before. Very rude. I also noticed that he asked a few women for their IDs on their way OUT the door and didn't want them to leave without checking it..... what?! The whole time the hostess said nothing at all. Very rude, very unwelcoming, will NOT be back to try again. read more

Finally having good weather, we were not able to enjoy any of our establishments near the Bankhead due to the incredible loud music being poured onto the street from Azotea. I'm surprised no other business made a complaint that their patios were empty because their amplified music was so loud it made difficult to hold a conversation with other people within a 100 yards of Azotea. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the company of others, I would not recommend this establishment. I had a very disappointing experience with the security guard on two separate occasions . Once with a small group of girls and the other with a couples group. Instead of being professional and helpful, the guard was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. We were met with a hostile attitude and unprofessional behavior that made the situation uncomfortable. The espresso martini served was nowhere close to what you would expect from a proper cocktail. The Don Julio Reposado shots were significantly more expensive than what you would typically find even at upscale bars in San Francisco. Overall, this resulted in a disappointing experience. read more

First off, this is NOT on the staff working. We genuinely felt bad for them. Management thought it was a good idea to schedule ONE bartender and ONE server on a packed Saturday night. The entire place was chaotic, customers were visibly irritated, TVs throughout the restaurant stopped working, and the poor employees were drowning trying to keep up. The stress was palpable that made the experience stressful and not enjoyable. Absolute management failure. At one point I used their self-pour beer wall and poured myself half a Modelo only for it to come out warm I was able to find another beer that was actually cold... but still charged for the warm one. The food was somehow even worse. We ordered the barbacoa nachos, wedge salad, and a kids burger with fries. The kids burger was the only edible thing. The wedge salad was drowning in ranch like someone emptied the whole bottle on it. Tomatoes tasted old and gross. Then came the nachos... tiny portion, bland chips, barely any cheese, no mango salsa like the menu claimed, and the "barbacoa" -- if you could even call it that -- was tough, fatty, and completely inedible. $74 later for one appetizer, one salad, one kids meal, and 1 1/2 beers. We only tipped because we felt bad for the server. We will NEVER be back. Thanks for ruining our Mother's Day dinner.

The entire staff is awesome, but a massive shout-out goes to our waitress, Ashley--she was fantastic and provided incredible service throughout the entire night! We ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, and every single one was a hit: * Fritto Marechiaro: A wonderful mix of fresh calamari, jumbo prawns, sliced zucchini, and artichoke hearts. Everything was fried to a light, crispy perfection and paired wonderfully with the signature Locanda Capri sauce. * Pane e Olive: Crisp, fresh baguette from local Wingen Bakery served alongside Locanda's classic olive tapenade. Rich, savory, and the perfect starter bite. * Fiori di Zucca: Delicate zucchini blossoms stuffed with creamy ricotta and mozzarella, served over a rich marinara sauce. These were absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth. * Penne alla Vodka: Tender penne pasta tossed with smoked mozzarella, Parmesan, and cracked pepper in a rich, creamy vodka pink sauce. Yummy and comforting! * Parmigiana di Melanzane: Mamma Carmela's famous eggplant parmigiana layered with melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. Hearty, warm, and bursting with authentic Italian flavor. * Pollo Piccata: Tender organic chicken breast served in a bright, zesty lemon-butter sauce with Sicilian capers, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and rainbow baby carrots. * Branzino Locanda: Fresh Mediterranean seabass filet lightly breaded with panko and topped with a bright lemon sauce, served with velvety mashed potatoes and rainbow baby carrots. Delicately crispy on the outside and wonderfully flaky inside. * Polpette della Mamma: Homemade beef meatballs cooked to tender perfection, served in a rich marinara sauce with Parmesan cheese and crisp crostini for dipping. Warm, comforting, and packed with flavor. * Beet Salad: A crisp, refreshing mix of wild baby arugula, mixed greens, sweet golden and red beets, tangy goat cheese crumbles, and juicy blood orange slices. * Espresso Martini & Wine: The drinks were top-tier. The espresso martini was amazing, bold, and perfectly balanced. We also ordered a bottle of Collefasani Bacchanalia Falerno del Massico Bianco D.O.C., which was served perfectly chilled--crisp, refreshing, and not too sweet. * Almond Cheesecake: For dessert, we treated ourselves to the almond cheesecake. It was rich, creamy, and served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream--the ideal sweet note to wrap up the night. Overall, it was a fantastic evening filled with great energy, outstanding hospitality, and incredible food. I highly recommend Locanda Wine Bar for a celebration, a night out with friends, or a memorable family meal!

Re: Owner response That was the weirdest response I've ever had from someone running a hospitality business. Another reason to never go back and tell our large social circle how bad the owner is at her job. I said there was almost a fight. A guy was being pushed and getting the F-word yelled at him, by an actual drunk and disorderly man that was completely ignored by you (and you were literally the bartender serving them) and your security, which were instead policing the women's bathroom line that had 20-30 women waiting constantly all night. Kicking a woman out and withholding the ability to get her phone, her purse, her money, or notify anyone in her party that you threw her out on the street is unsafe and actually illegal. And you defend this? Everyone I have talked to who had negative experiences at this place said that the owner is the problem on every one. Calling a customer drunk and disorderly, which was completely false, and then calling them entitled is right on par with the other negative reviews on this place, which are plenty.

Not that I'd really know but I thought I heard the bartender mention something. But the drink was served up, with a garnish of star anise inside the glass and a cinnamon stick that he lit to smolder. The drink was so smooth and interesting, a touch sweet and sour with a creamy texture even though it was clear-ish. Menu says 'clarified milk punch' but I have no clue on what that entails. I just know it was pretty tasty but think they left out the Cinnamon Toast Crunch part out. Which wasn't a deal breaker. Afterglow ($18/4*) Cilantro infused vodka, cachaca, citrus, ginger, tiki bitters and mango liqueur. Another very interesting concoction this time garnished with popping boba which silhouettes in the warm yellowish cool liquid. We each only had 1 as fun as the drinks are and as kitsch the vibes were, we are just kinda simple and straight forward drinkers. A Ketel n soda and/or a double Jami on the rocks with a beer back. And this block has several choices for such simplicity and lack of theatrics. I'd still come back if I was with the right people and occasion. It is pricey but with the right peeps can be a fun and whimsical out.
