I have eaten here many times, and when it is good, it is very good. Portions are large, food is flavorful and warm. With Covid, have been getting delivery. First issue I had was one time food was very lightly seasoned compared to normal. Thought it was a fluke, so tried again and next 7-8 times was good. Then got some soup with a coconut base, and it tasted like it had sugar in it, like coca-cola levels. Thought it may be a fluke again, ordered other dishes instead of soup, were content for a while, then tried soup again, it was good. Last night ordered soup again and it was too sweet once again. With so many thai restaurants, will find another one that can consistently make food. read more

One of my favorites. Fun cocktails and great beers in tap--my husband and I will often pop in and sit at the bar. The Crab Delight is the best I've had anywhere--a lot of places it's just cream cheese filled wontons with a tiny bit of crab. Ayutthaya's has real detectable crab in it, plus they're sizable, crunchy, and tasty. Food/service has always been quick and good. The Ayutthaya Noodles are garlicky and delicious. I've also enjoyed the Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe (sp?), and the Pineapple Fried Rice. Highly recommended! read more

I really liked this place. For Thai food, in particular, it's all about balance -- for example, I had the tom kha soup with chicken. I get it all the time when I go for Thai food -- and usually there's one flavor that stands out; the coconut milk overwhelms, or there's too much cilantro, too much spice, etc. Here, the flavor balance was really perfect. Felt the same way about the pad gra pow (it's spelled differently in different areas -- basically, spicy basil stir fry, I had mine with chicken). Very balanced. Enough of a kick to make me say, "Hey, how's it goin'?" But not too much. Had the sticky rice instead of steamed rice, which always is a nice contrast to the savory-ness of the spice. If I had one slight bit of feedback for the place it's that they're a bit heavy on the mushrooms -- the flavor of which is great, but the actual presence of which was a little much for my taste. The server was extremely nice; the atmosphere comfortable and inviting. I was on my own with a book, and had a really nice, relaxing meal. Definitely plan to return! read more

This restaurant is named after the once-prosperous Siamese trade and political capital. The city goes down as the most glorious as well as the most devastated city in Thai history. I'm afraid this Seattle restaurant has followed in its namesake's path. Once a jewel of Thai cuisine in Seattle. No longer. The service is almost nonexistent: two waiters, two tables with two people each. Once our food was delivered and we never saw either waiter again until it was to present the bill. No check on how we were doing, did we need more water (BTW, yes, we did)? Nothing. And, as for the food. Well, certainly not memorable. The calamari appetizer was so over battered we struggled to find the calamari. The Pud Kee Mao with pork was porkless. It was overdressed with those horrible little machine-cut carrots with the scalloped edges. I mean so many little carrot discs and so little pork for $14. Don't bother with the standards of Pad See Ew or Pad Thai either. An odd thing about Thai restaurants in the USA versus Thailand. No chopsticks in Thailand. In Thailand I have not ever been asked, "how many stars" do you want? The dishes come to the table and you make your own level of stars as the tables are loaded with pepper condiments. You make your own heat level. At Ayutthaya, we couldn't get our hands on cutlery as we couldn't find a waiter. As for the star level, we ordered different dishes at different levels. All the dishes seemed to have the same heat. Barely edible for some folks. This once charming, tasty little neighborhood place has gone the way of its namesake. read more

Special Thai curry and the pad woon sen were delicious...I been to Thailand 3 times and this is as close to authentic as can be. Other people reviews deal with the waiters and what not, but to me I don't care about service when I look for a place to dine, I care for quality of food overall and this place, for these 2 dishes, were amazing...the sticky rice with mango o can't complain. I believe reviews should be of the overall food..people are given bad star reviews to restaurants who have great food and given great reviews for bad food that they think is "good" due to the great service...no thank you. I've been going to Ayatthaya for years and allows enjoy their food. The staff is personable and friendly. Very reasonably priced too.

I LOVE Ayutthaya. It's close to my work, so we usually get a gang together and head over. The lunch time menu is large enough that everyone can find something with no trouble. I love their green curry with tofu. The Pud Thai, although a thai food cliche, is way better than the normal orange sticky mess you get at other thai places. The service is always very good, even when we're there during their family meal in the middle of the afternoon. Parking can be hard to find, but you can cheat and park in the QFC garage on broadway and get your parking validated by picking up a soda on your way through the grocery. read more

We started with Schezuan spicy garlic green beans and calamari. Both magnificent! The sauce on green beans was so yummy. Then we had Beef Phad Thai, Penang curry, spicy basil fried rice. Side of peanut sauce. With a spice tray. We ordered three star just to be safe but it's a five star and four star would've been perfect but spice tray made it perfect. :) Gin and tonic And club soda vodka for beverages. Yummmmmmmm. Best! Service is super friendly and they are open to putting things on the side and making accommodations. The food was yummy. I ordered Pad See Ewe and the chicken was perfect, the noodles were just a little oily. But still really good. My friends ordered yellow curry (with wide noodles on the side) and Pad Cashew. Both friends sang in chorus that they loved it. We were happy with the nice find on Pike Street. The only thing is that the table and chair cushions needed a good wipe, wash, refinishing. read more

I paid $12 for a very meager portion of Panang Curry to go. Before, when I used to order to-go here, they would usually serve the curry in an 12-16oz container and rice in a separate box. Now they serve it in a single to-go container with little meat and soup. Ayutthaya is skimping on their food portions. There are other restaurants in Cap Hill that also serve Thai curry with bigger portions and so I will happily take my business elsewhere. read more

Strange recipe inconsistent with other Thai restaurants in neighborhood like heavy broccoli usage with no peppers or onions just a few cashews. Came here for an early dinner and the place was pretty empty. Closest Thai to our new place so we decided to try. My boyfriend had the Pad Thai which is his favorite dish. The style was different - the noodles and chicken were all wrapped in the egg. It looked really nice - great presentation. He said he liked it pretty well. I had the Pad Cashew with chicken. Although I liked it, I have had better. We also started with the fried vegetable rolls, which were really good. The atmosphere of the place was pretty weird... but the service was great. I accidentally ordered extra seafood on my chicken curry(we ordered online) however my husband has a shellfish allergy. So obviously we couldn't just "deal with it" when I got home. This place is A-Ok. I'm no damn professional when it comes to Thai food, so I wouldn't really know if this is good or bad compared to others, but I still know what tastes good and what doesn't. I came here with a friend, we ordered big with intentions of bringing leftovers home to mow on the next day for lunch. Between the two of us we shared three different things and both had plenty to take home. The special chicken had Amazing, fabulous flavor, while the sweet & sour left a little something to be desired. Not even a high quality HJ could save this place. The Tom Kah Gai was low on flavor and not very spicy despite my 5 star request. They have these Thai statues that stare out the window inviting customers in... unfortunately this puts the statue's Sir-Mix-A-Lot worthy ass right on my table - while my posse may be on Broadway, I'd prefer not to have tiger statues posteriors that would turn even Ron Jeremy's stomach hanging out over my table. The service was lackluster. They have this dual entry door thing that just angered me and my dining companions... I'm not saying this is a legitimate complaint, but I'm making it anyway. There are too many really good Thai places to settle for this one. Keep hunting my hungry friends. Someone must be to blame. Scenario: I go to a Thai restaurant. I order Phad Thai. The waiter asks "how many stars, 1 to 5?" I say "5." I get 1. Maybe 1/2 a star. I get white person stars. I am so tired of white person stars. Every Thai place gives white person stars. There can only be two reasons for this: 1) Thai people think their food is spicier than it is (unlikely). 2) White people often ask for the hottest spice option available, then return the food because it is too spicy (likely). So you are to blame, white people. You. Be less you. This still doesn't make any sense to me. What kind of an idiot would order the spiciest option and be upset that their food is spicy? No one. Ayutthaya's was particularly egregious. There was no heat at all. The food was pretty tasty, and they filled my water often, but I'm tired of white person stars. I wanted spicy. I asked for spicy. I got white person spicy, aka not spicy. If you don't like spicy, this place is probably 4 star worthy. The portions are not that large but the food is inexpensive, so it is not a terrible problem. We had 4 different servers, mostly younger kids, and while none of them were particularly friendly, this is a Thai restaurant so that's not shocking. I'm a Thai food junkie and needed my fix even though I was only in Seattle for 4 days. My friend brought me here, said it was her favorite hole-in-the-wall. After a 5-hour plane ride, a Thai iced tea was so refreshing. The chicken satay was sweetly addictive--give me a bowl of rice and I could've turned that peanut-y goodness into a meal. The pad see ew with beef was nothing special; I've definitely had better and worse in my life. VEGETARIANS BEWARE! We went to this restaurant because it's close to the Egyptian and has a vegetarian section on the menu. Luckily, I asked my standard Thai questions (does this contain fish sauce? oyster sauce?). It turns out that most of the "vegetarian" entrees include fish and/or oyster sauce, and can't be made without them. After asking about a few dishes, I finally caught-on and asked instead -- what can I order? The waitress listed 3-4 dishes, so I ordered from those. The food, atmosphere, and service were all good, so I'm bumping this to 3 stars. However, my brother did eat the food and he ordered 5 star phad thai and it was not spicy whatsoever. We ordered our food and an hour later our food was not out yet and I started to look around. The other tables of two, three and fours did not get their food either. What was the kitchen doing?? No one in the restaurant had their food. It should not have taken that long. Slowly food was coming out to the tables and over an hour later our server apologized and said the kitchen had more orders than expected. That seemed stranger to me. It was dinner time 6-7pm and they were not expecting that many people? After the food came out, our servers were not attentive and did not check up on us if at all. I let my family eat since I did not feel like eating. I notice that people around me kept looking around to get the servers attention. That is not how a restaurant treat their guest nor have the guest waiting for service. PRESENTATION: Decent decor and plating of the food. There is a small bar. LOCATION: It was on the corner of two cross street so it was easy to find. Street parking and paid parking available. I've been here three times, and while it's not life-changing Thai food, it's solid. The first time was probably the best, I had the prik king tofu with green beans (spicy and delicious) and my friend had, I believe, the massuman curry? It was also very good, nicely balanced flavors. The servings are smaller than I would like, but I also lose the ability to control myself when I go out for Thai so it's probably a good thing. The service is friendly and speedy (but not rushed). I'm vegetarian, so I can't speak to the breadth of the menu as a whole. I wish they had more veg options, but I'm glad to have a dedicated section at all, and there's a nice variety to choose from. Oh, and they have really tasty brown rice that I believe is a mix with red rice? Or something...whatever, it's really good. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is quite good. Some friends and I ended up here after deciding the feel of Oddfellows wasn't right and Honeyhole was too crowded. I must admit, I was quite surprised at how great this place was. I have walked by here a million times and never even noticed it was there! The service was quick and attentive for the most part. The food was pretty good and I'd like to go back and try a noodle dish. I had the coconut chicken (3 star) and it was just the right level of spice! I hate when a place asks how spicy and it seems to make no difference what level you order, but here it actually seems to make a difference. I'd definitely go back again. I had been to this restaurant for a few times in a year, however, last time here was probably my worst experience with any cuisine I had ever had. No offense, but they changed the chef, charged ridiculously high for just little Green Beans and Calamari, seriously? 3 bites each person for 3 person servings? And the Pad Thai noodle was over cooked and sticky. Tasted too much fish sauce. What comes worse, we ALL had diarrhea, my friends were worse because they as well had fever the next day. (Not making up story) the upset stomach last for 2 days and still on, we had pills from the doctor, that was the food from this particular restaurant!!! We should have sued!! Note* When it comes to bill, it was nearly 70$ but if you pay cash, they deducted 10%, you can guess how much they had hidden the money from the tax bills. And no receipt to us in the end. My friend Isobel introduced me to this place last week and I must say I was oddly surprised. I went in expecting to see the usual Thai-American dishes, but every menu item listed was authentic. Being on this crazy PALEO diet, it's almost impossible to eat out and try different cuisines. I ordered the Pad Khing Sod, level 4, loaded with ginger and mushrooms. The simply sautéed meat and veggies fit perfectly into my dietary restrictions and was delicious. The mounds of fresh ginger may be overwhelming for some palettes, especially with such a high heat level. I suggest getting a side of rice with this dish to avoid effervescent sensory overload. The service was commendable. Both waitresses and the cook who came from the rear were all very accommodating and helpful. There seemed to be quite a few people in the bar for it to be a Wednesday night. I'm sure the large TV screen had the 9-5ers mesmerized. read more
