My fiance and I decided to come here because of the proximity to my house. First, the wait time given was 30 minutes but we waited and waited. 45 minutes later, we noticed a few people being seated before us. We asked the hostess and they skipped over our name and 2 more tables were seates before us. Now the food: pizza mediocre...garlic fries...okay and wings...mediocre. It is very disheartening to have to write this review though I must be honest and give an update regarding todays recent visit. First and foremost our server Nicolette, she greeted us when she approached our table and took our orders. We ordered the pepperoni pizza ( pizza sauce tastes as if it came out of a can), cheese balls ( very bland and hardly any cheese inside ),chili cheese fries ( the garlic fries were really dry thank goodness for the chili and cheese, honey bbq ( Bbq tasted as if it was from a generic Bbq bottle of sauce ) and lemon pepper wings ( the lemon pepper had a good taste to it though it was a bit oily ) , and the chili cheese fries ( were okay but not the best I had asked if I may use my check in offer ( 15% off entire meal excluding the spirits ) after she leaves and comes back. I asked if she found about the check in? She says oh I'll ask and she once again is gone though as she approaches our table I ask her once again and she says oh no you can't so I also ask for a water with lemon. So she brings me a cup of water with food stuck to the rim of the cup and no lemon. I had to wait to ask her after she just dropped our drinks off for another cup of water WITH lemon please. After about 10 minutes she returns with what looks to be the same glass but the food had been wiped from the cup. I'm sorry I just couldn't drink it... so I ask my fiancée if he wouldn't mind asking her for a cup of water and a lemon for me and so he does. Overall I wasn't very happy with my experience upon requesting a knife for the cheese balls and a container for our large amounts of left overs, Nicolette brought the containers, totally disregarding my need for a utensil. We packed our food and proceeded to the front to pay. I will not be returning and I will not be boasting about this place any further. This visit to Alondra Hot Wings was an ok one. The service was a bit slow and a little off but ok in the end. This was my first time having the Arlene flavor wings. This flavor is on a secret menu so unless you know of it, you'll miss it. This is probably the best flavor I've had here next to the chili lime wings. The Alcatraz pizza which is just a pepperoni pizza with double the pepperoni is also the best pizza I've had here so far. I'd choose this over the Don pizza. It was greasy but very delicious. Garlic parmesan fries were ordered to go along with this. I've always liked the taste of the fries and the thickness of them so all was good there. Besides the minor service issue, this was a good outing on a Thursday. Please read Sorry its long but after reading you will understand. I will begin with rating this one star only because the food has always been great. I went on April 15, 2016 a Friday night around 9pm waited for about an hour and 15 minutes for a table. (That is a usual amount of time to wait) im not too bothered about that. Its ok. Its kinda annoying seeing a couple empty tables with empty dishes and trash and not been catered to especially with a line out the door and people wanting seats. Thats was kinda bothers me After finally being called for my party (party of 4 people) We were escorted by a medium to small frame Hispanic "waitress" (no racial im Hispanic and look whiter then ever) to the back with a half table half booth. A family member asked me if we could ask them to issue us a full booth. When we asked, we were told "No, those are only for parties of 5 or more". (WOW didnt think she would tell us a straight no.) Taken back we asked if they could make an exception this time?? (I couldn't believe we even had to ask) She shrugged her shoulders and threw half her body to slouch on the empty bar stool near her, gave a big sigh and appeared to be soooooooo annoyed by us asking she replied "I guess I can ask but your gonna have to wait" At that point we were like wow... That body language and disrespect was uncalled for. We just asked a simple question pretty much if we could just have an empty table. We passed by a total of 3 empty booths one with a sigh taped to the table that said "do not seat -management" fine maybe its broken thats understandable again not mad about that l. But the other two??? So then she continued and said "sooo what do you want to do.....?" so we asked "well how much longer is gonna be?" Still with her slouching on the bar stool, her annoyed face, and another big sigh she goes " i dont know... Pshh maybe 20 minutes" Like seriously were all just standing there having a full conversation about this. Were starving so we just said alright whatever and we sat there where she pointed. Again still bothered by her actions we requested our server to call the manager over. He said ok if there was anything he could help us with we said no its ok theres multiple reasons we wanna address the manager with. He left, came back, and said manager was busy and he will come when he's free. He asked us if we wanted to order. We didn't want to at that moment because we thought we were going to be moved. Finally after maybe 10 minutes of waiting the manager comes (a tall african american male) we addressed our concerns about her disrespect and asked him if he could move us. Im not kidding you... He too shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do about it. And that it was our fault for sitting down and if we hadnt then "maybe" there was something he could do, but we are going against the seating policy.. (A damn seating policy really) But all he can do now is put us back in line. (To wait another hour plus) He stated he puts his full trust in his associates. I informed him, he should probably not because she acted like she didn't need this job or something. We also informed him of a flickering light above us which he looked up and said nothing about it. Regardless to say NOTHING was done for us. We had to sit there or be punished. I also felt punished because for some reason my 25 pc wings came out in like 3minutes before any of our drinks or any other food. The wings were cold as if placed literally in the freezer (touched the ends of bones it was not even room temp, it was cold) Gave us about 6 carrots no celery. My aunt asked if the michelada was a pre made drink or could she pick the type of beer to use. The waiter said it was not pre made and she was not allowed to change the beer. Thats funny because when it did come it was watered down and tasted just like the pre made can. GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE! So much better than "Wing Stop" IMHO. And for so many reasons, the main one being that it is a lot cheaper here. They also get your order out to you pronto-quickie-like-status. Came here after a recommendation and had lunch today. Order 50 wings, 25 BBQ and 25 Lime Chili or something and WOW! So good! Not too spicy, you know where it sucks to eat each piece but you love wings so you eat um anyways? Not like that at all. Just enough spicy to put a fire under your tongue for a second and then it backs off with that scrumptious lime flavor....mmmmmmm. Place is ALWAYS packed so either get it to go, or don't come around lunch or dinner time. Staff were all friendly and helpful in placing our order. Keep in mind that fountain refills are not 100% free. You get one free refill and then pay for the rest. This might be an issue if you start ordering atomic wings. Small indoor seating and nothing outdoor. It's located near Alondra and Paramount but it's tucked away behind another building and hard to see. FYI: They have a new location opening soon right down the street on Alondra. Not sure if it's a move or if it's just a new location but it's safe to assume that they will move soon. I have been waiting for this place to open for months. We visited on a Friday night and were excited by what the menu had to offer. I thought this was just a wing joint, but they have everything from pizzas, salads to burgers. I Settled on the 12 piece wings with split flavors of original hot and lime chile. 45 minutes later.... still no food. Waitress was lost in the abyss of people and we waited and waited and waited. About an hour later the wings arrived, but not the complete order. We were still missing a plate of food and had no napkins. How can you eat wings with no napkins? I tracked down a server and asked for napkins, and maybe a refill...our glasses had been empty for quite some time. Wings were average. They were served on a plate filled with sauce. The carrots and celery sticks were floating in the sauce as well. Wing Stop and Wing Street offer the same wings with less of a wait. I've been to this Alondra's a few times. And I haven't written a review because I always want to give them a chance to change my mind about this location. Alas, I can't stand this location. The servers we've had seem to forget that they are in the hospitality industry. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. First, they don't want to do split checks at this location, even though we were at two separate tables and we were ordering, and paying, based on the tables. Next, someone in my party ordered a strawberry lemonade and the server returns with a cherry lemonade and says, "We don't have strawberry lemonade so I brought you cherry lemonade." If it wasn't available, she should have returned and asked if cherry lemonade was okay. After dropping off drinks, she left for a long period of time, so my friend took his cherry lemonade to the counter and was standing for 5 minutes with people passing him left and right as he was trying to get someone's attention. Finally, he had to block their walkway and explain his situation and they finally brought him a soda. The stickler was, a few minutes later, we see another server making strawberry lemonades. When our food finally arrived, it was mediocre. Most of the lemon pepper wings didn't have seasoning so they were basically deep-fried chicken wings. At least the Arline's wings were sauced up. The pizza arrived sans basil and we had to send it back. Once we finished eating, we asked for the bill and she was quick to bring it... collecting it though, was an eternity. Fool me once... shame on you... Fool me four times... I'm an idiot. Alondra's Paramount, I do not plan on returning. Service ** Get a clue management learn how to manage a restaurant and schedule enough waiters. Yesterday it took my party of two over one hour and a half to get seated. Ordering TO GO cross my mind. Seemed like a faster alternative but since I am not from the area and choose not eat in my car. I took the long route and waited semi patiently. I felt bad for the hostess although I was giving her the stank eye over the long wait. She had to manage the dining room with few waiters. Booths were open and the back section was closed. People would walk in and get seated immidiately. Apparently "everyone" was watching a basketball game yet half the people "watching the game" left within 20minutes. They completely ignored our table for the rest of the night. Keeping my current food rating 4 stars, however I experienced poor attitude/customer service last night. Showed up for dinner during Game 6 of the Lakers/OKC playoff game so I expected it to be busy, but what I didn't expect was the treatment by the hosts/hostess. After I put my name down I asked "What's the wait time?", question everyone generally asks after getting on the list. The hostess replied, "There is no wait time because the Laker game is on". "So even if people paid their checks and are good to go, they're allowed to sit there and watch tv?", I said. She replied, "Sometimes they do that and sometimes they order drinks". So what it boils down to is you can get away with ordering the cheapest thing on the menu, drink a water, and sit there forever. Doesn't matter that the waiting area is full of 20+ peeps with cash in hand, that one customer with a water and deep fried twinkie can stay there for until closing time. Call me crazy, but what the heck!?! Are they mad!? My wife and I generally spend around 35-40 bucks at this establishment. With that math they're willing on passing on possibly 700-800 dollars worth of business so that their tables that are paid and done, can sit happily and watch the game, or order maybe 10 dollars more of drinks/food. Wow! I mean forget the Laker game, what the staff is basically telling me is even if a bowling tournament is on, the same rules apply. Totally unacceptable behavior by the staff and/or management. Impatience and disgust was displayed on everyone in the waiting area and also on the many people that just simply left. Can you blame them? The answer to a possible wait time is very close to asking you to eat somewhere else. Anyway, I arrived near the end of the second quarter (3:00 min left), waited through halftime and about 3-4 min into the 3rd quarter. Luckily people got up and left on there own despite the precious Laker game. So with all that drama I only ended up waiting 20-25 min which wasn't bad. Drama that could of been avoided if the management/staff would take a different approach towards customer service. I understand asking people to get out after the check is paid could cause friction, but telling people they might be waiting 2 hours for chicken wings because of a game is simply insane. Good service, great food. Had the wings which were perfectly crispy. Also got the pizza balls which are sooo amazing. Portions are large & you can easily split a few items with a person. Due to covid restrictions there is only outdoor seating but they made it as comfortable as possible (shade, grass, lights). Food came out quick and our waitress was friendly and attentive. My rating is solely based on the food since we have always ordered our food to go. I have tried nearly every wing flavor on their menu so far and my top theee are lemon pepper, teriyaki and honey bbq. We ordered the saucy wings extra crispy and they were perfect - I don't like the 'fatty' texture wings sometimes have and the extra cooking time alleviated that. The other amazing item that I crave on their menu are their cheese balls....mmmmmm! This says a lot because I'm lactose intolerant and I STILL eat them :). You MUST try them but be sure to get extra marinara sauce because they usually only give you one teeny tiny little cup full. To sum it up: If you're craving wings, give this place a try.
