Tried The Habit again after seeing it beat In-N-Out in a "best burger" ranking. I wasn't impressed the first time I tried The Habit, but after seeing it ranked above In-N-Out, I figured it deserved a second chance. I'm not a die-hard In-N-Out fan, but their burgers are consistently satisfying and affordable, so I wanted to see what the hype was about. I'll admit this visit was better than my first. The burger had more flavor this time, and I can see the appeal. That said, it's definitely a different style of burger compared to In-N-Out. Also, the prices at The Habit are noticeably higher. Would I visit again? Yes. But if I'm looking for something more affordable and a bit lighter, I'd still go with In-N-Out. read more

I was craving a good burger so I thought I'd give this a try, ordered online and picked it up, I was already there when I received the text that it was ready and I only live a few blocks away, was not even a little warm when I got home, I ordered the teriyaki burger with the pineapple and the picture online. I asked if I could go in-person to get a refund since she couldn't do it on the phone- no to both options!!! I would have to fill out a form on-line to request a follow-up. The food is soooo good. You don't even have to get a burger here to enjoy your food. The salads are good too. This is somewhat similar to chick fil-a, but beef version. Ordered online during a hard rainstorm. I am handicapped, use a walker and rain is scary on slippery pavement so I sent my 15 year old granddaughter to retrieve prepaid order. They said no order came to them online, but they charged my AMEX card????? Called AMEX when I got home and told them to cancel the charge. Just a couple weeks prior to my visit, I had gone to the Seal Beach Habit Burger to take advantage of the National French Fry Day promo that was going on. There, I got the Original Impossible Burger and regular fries, both of which I enjoyed on a Sunday evening. This time, there was a promo for a $6 Santa Barbara Char, which is usually around $8. Not a bad deal, but unfortunately, not a good burger, at least at the Paramount location. When I arrived, there wasn't anyone in line, but it took a couple of minutes for a staff member to ring up my order. One of the cashiers at the front had her back turned to me, possibly to help finish up some orders, and then Courtney suddenly popped out of nowhere to take my order. I told her I wanted the $6 Santa Barbara Char, and she asked me if I wanted everything on it. It had been a while since I've had one, so I asked her to remind me what it usually comes with. It took her several seconds for her to understand what I was trying to ask, which did annoy me a little, but maybe she didn't hear me that well? Anyways, after paying, she asked me if I wanted to order for here or to go. I hadn't taken a look at the rest of the interior, and I know there were a handful of tables outside, so I chose "to go." While waiting, I noticed how large the interior was; I'd say it's a little larger than the other Habit Burgers I've been to before. I saw some empty seats by the far corner next to the restrooms, and there was a hand sanitizer dispenser right there for me to use before eating. It took about 10 minutes before my order was ready, and a different staff member handed me a large takeout bag that could probably fit a family meal. Kind of wasteful if you ask me, but the takeout container was pretty large since the Santa Barbara Char is served like a sandwich that is cut in half. I took the Santa Barbara Char to the aforementioned empty seats, but not before grabbing some jalapenos, ketchup, and mustard. When I opened the lid, I noticed how the toothpicks that were supposed to hold the burger together were angled askew as opposed to vertically. Why do it that way?? Not sure, but man I made a mess after just one bite lol. So many toppings fell out of the burger no matter how hard I tried. I could have let it slide if the rest of the burger tasted good, but unfortunately, I can't say that was the case. While the vegetables tasted fresh, the meat patty was a disappointment. It was just overcooked, and there were a handful of burnt bits on the patty that really took away from an otherwise decent burger. At least the inside wasn't dry, but that burger just didn't cut it for me. Not only that, but after finishing the first half of the Santa Barbara Char, I looked at the second half and almost saw no meat! Like were my eyes deceiving me?? Turns out there was meat, but significantly less than on the other half. And the toothpick on the second half was stuck to the small meat patty that I had no choice but to eat the last of the meat first, leaving me with a vegetarian Santa Barbara Char. While I'm sure vegetarians would have enjoyed it, not having the meat really killed any hopes of a good rating for this Yelp review. The sourdough bread used was lightly toasted. Not bad, but it definitely could have been toasted longer. I doubt it would have served as the saving grace for the rather disappointing burger, however. The Paramount Habit Burger is located on the northeast corner of Paramount (Blvd, that is) and Alondra. It's in the same plaza as Chipotle, Waba Grill, and Smoke & Fire Eatery, the last of which is CM (Community Manager) approved. If you're not sure what that last part means, it's another way of saying that my next burger in that plaza is more likely going to have mac & cheese than a slice of cheese. If you're still not sure, I'll just cut to the chase: I don't think I'll be making a return visit to this Habit Burger, especially when there are a few other Habit Burger locations closer to me. It's disappointing how the burger I got at this Habit Burger wasn't up to par with the burgers I've gotten at other locations. Whether it's a lack of quality control or simply an off day, I'd recommend driving a few more miles to a different location if you really want to try the Santa Barbara Char. read more
