You might miss it if you arent looking for them but you should check them out for their tasty and affordable tteokbokki! Soft chewy rice cakes, flavourful broth, well balanced overall. Ambiance can use some upping up. Feels a bit like an entry hall and their kitchen closed off on another side. Friendly service. Not accessible as there's one step up to the shop and it's tight once you are inside.

When we entered the store we didn't see any staff at the front and we just sat ourselves down. This is a small spot which seats about 8 people (4 tables). Just an fyi it does take some time to get the food ready. The server let us know ahead of time. We ordered combo c which includes tteokbokki, assorted fried sides, kimbap/rice bowl and 2 drinks. For tteokbokki we got the rose with spice level 2. It was a bit spicy for me and I heard customer at the other table said spice level 1 is spicy already. We added wide noodles as well as cheese for an extra cost. The wide noodles and the rice cake is a bit under cooked in my opinion. The assorted fried sides includes fried seaweed, fish cake, dumplings and a hash brown. It was just okay in my opinion, it tastes good if you dip it in the tteokbokki sauce though. The kimbap we got the bibimbap kimbap and it was slightly spicy. It's pretty filling! Overall, the food was just okay. The washroom is quite big and accessible, it's kinda like the size of half the store. The service could be better in my opinion. Majority of the time the staff was at the back and we would have to just wait for them to randomly come out. I also saw a couple of customer come in and left very soon as there was no staff there.

AWESOME TTEOKBOKKI . . found this hole in the wall gem on Isabella Street. You can get a variety of tteokbokki and toppings, kimbap and fried items. They also have combos which is a great deal and the portions are generous! If you can only choose one topping, I highly recommend the wide glass noodles. It's so chewy and delicious soaked up in the sauce. . . Combo A (tteokbokki with 1 topping, one fried item and one drink) 4/5

One of my favourite spots for excellent and affordable Korean Street food. Their original tteokbokki costs less than $10 ( as of 2024) Ideal for a quick bite or to go because the space is small and it can get busy sometimes. Accessible washroom is available. I highly recommend this place if you're in the downtown area and it's close to the subway too.

Great new spot for authentic Korean rice cakes! They've got a lot of flavours (like Basil Cream, Rose, Mala) and affordable combo sets that let you get a bit of everything. Clean and bright atmosphere, friendly and polite staff!

Rose tteokboki and gimbap (bulgogi and tuna)

We ordered 2 gimbap rolls (bulgogi and tuna) and the rose tteokboki to share between 3 people. The gimbap tasted both comforting and savoury, and the rose tteokboki was definitely a hit! Although the space inside is extremely small (3 tables only) with minimal decor, it was still a great place for cheap eats. Server was friendly and helpful with her recommendations.

I was starting to get really hangry and irritated after walking around the city all day. We started with Korean beer and shots of Jinro Is Back Soyu. It was a good idea. Overall the food was quite good. I recommend everyone to check this restaurant out for themselves. The Korean pancake with seafood and vegetables was huge and much crispier than the one I've tried before. My beef tartare bibimbap was perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to have it right now. The sizzling hot plate with pork and squid also looked very impressive. It must have been delicious as well, because one of my companions ate the whole thing with no problem. The spicy shredded beef brisket stew/soup 'Yukgaejang' was something which i wouldn't survive, but my man finished everything to the last drop. Hence we entered Jin Dai Lae. Good decision (yes, I am patting my back). Entree pricing was $3 to $4 lower than Markham/Richmond Hill. Portion was so big that you would be full, and might have to doggy bag. Most importantly, food tasted good. Short ribs stew had many pieces of beef. Squids hot plate was saucy. It wasn't too spicy, so it was good for me (menu didn't have a chilli sign either). For people who like it hot, you can ask for some chilli sauce.
