Had a very bad experience here. The employees and manager were very discriminatory and racist.

"Better than new"…read more I had a fantastic experience with Luggage & Leather Depot on the good ol' Hamden Road. I was dashing out to a meeting a week or so ago. Grabbed the trusty messenger bag con laptop, and bang! - strap broke, and everything spilled onto the floor. I collected everything, checked to see what had happened, and proceeded to be late to my meeting. When I arrived back home, the first thing I did was try to locate a leather repair shop, and the depot was at the top of the list, and less than a mile from me. I called, and the gent said that they would likely be able to fix it, so I took a walk over, and dropped off the bag. In less than 3 days, Mr. Kim called to inform me that he'd completed the repair. Again, I walked over to retrieve my Mark & Graham bag for a grand total of $38. Not only did I just save a few hundred dollars by not having to buy a new bag, but the repair was as advertised - "better than new" - with new leather, and an added metal bar for strength. I can't recommend this business highly enough. I'm looking forward to my next interaction - think I'll buy something new there next time. See you in town!

Popped stitches. It was definitely in need of repair. Mr. Kim was able to get the repairs done in a little over a week and the repair work was so seamless that I could barely tell what had been fixed. The only telltale sign is that he added a new, stronger zipper to replace the broken one which actually made it much easier for me to open and close the interior compartment. The $45 I spent in repairs was a worthwhile investment to ensure I would have many more years of adventures to come with my fabulous ruby red suitcase!

I needed a small personal item size piece of luggage and had researched on-line before hand and decided that I wanted the Alpha Bravo Everett essential, but couldn't decide if I wanted the on-line exclusive Camo or if I should go with the Anthracite or leather. I am so glad I went to the store. Things can appear very differently in person and I went in a whole different direction and decided upon the Cobalt blue. I didn't and wouldn't have realized that the camo and the Anthracite were made out of fabric not the Tumi signature ballistic nylon that the blue one is. The way the handle and the hardware accent the color looks a lot better in person on the blue bag as well. The sales people were very good, courteous and friendly. My friend and I were the only ones in the shop and they really took care of us. My friend bought one of their new wallets with the NFC canceling security device in it for people who surreptitiously try to get information off your credit cards. I probably will be back for one of these before my round the world trip I take next year. This bag is my first Tumi product. I look forward to putting its legendary durability to the test very soon. Consider Tumi and this shop for your next luggage or wallet purchase. I recommend it!

In other words, the exact same thing you get when you buy a $75-100 bag. And how do they respond when you bring their "super, high quality, built to last" (that's the sales pitch they give you when you are thinking of buying BTW) bag in for a a warranty claim? This way, "Oh, there will be a $25 processing fee on top of whatever the cost is to repair the luggage." Me, "And how much will that be?" Xavier, "Oh, I have no idea. You'll need to ship it off and find out. They might cover it under warranty or they might charge you for the repairs." Me, "And you can't tell me in advance what the estimated cost on these very common repairs?" Xavier, "No, I really can't." Trust me, I travel all the time. Before stepping foot into this store, my friend and I devoured a delicious early lunch filled with oysters, shrimp, and all the local favorites. Little did I know, my stomach had its own little plan brewing after lunch. As it really didn't sit well with me and my poor tummy started rumbling like a volcano about to erupt! Thankfully, my friend Nihar needed to buy a winter parka, and lucky for me, Patagonia has a bathroom. It was like the universe was conspiring in my favo, as I quickly rushed up stairs. The bathroom was surprisingly clean and well-stocked with soap and toilet paper. But here's the catch - the acoustics in there were something else! It felt like my stomach's symphony was echoing through the entire store. ! Desperate to drown out the embarrassing sounds, I turned on some tunes and let the water run from the faucet m. But let's face it, you can't hide the truth forever and you've just got to go....After enduring my own personal "bubble guts" concert, I realized there was no air freshener in sight (sorry, staff!) and felt terrible for the next person who would have to endure this bathroom.... I took a deep breath and decided it was time to make a quick exit. As I hurriedly opened the bathroom door, I almost collided with none other than Adam Sandler himself! Yes, you read that right, THE Adam Sandler! My jaw dropped to the floor, and in a panic, I slammed myself back against the bathroom door. As there was no way I was going to let Adam witness the aftermath of my bathroom symphony and I was convinced he'd make a joke about me on his next show! But you know what? I gathered all my courage and casually greeted him with an "oh hey, Adam." and to my surprise, he responded kindly and moved along, saving me from any potential embarrassment. Phew! After escaping the bathroom fiasco, I made my way downstairs to join my friend Jesse, who was stuck on a conference call. Meanwhile, my other friend bombarded the staff with a million questions about their precious parka. I must say, the staff handled it like pros, remaining super friendly and helpful throughout the entire time. They even managed to maintain their professionalism while Adam and his bodyguard roamed around the store and with the growing crowd trying to entire the store to see Adam. All in all, it was a fun and eventful experience, despite my bathroom mishap. But hey, here's a friendly suggestion to the store: maybe invest in some air fresheners? I promise I'll return on my next visit, hoping for a less "aromatic" adventure and good times!.

We were shopping for outfits for our son's graduation, which should have been a positive and memorable occasion. Instead, I was subjected to unprofessional, confrontational, and ultimately abusive behavior by a fitting room associate. Upon approaching the fitting room, I followed the associate's directions regarding where to place my cart, although her instructions were inconsistent and unclear. Inside the dressing room, I found a shirt that had been left behind by a previous customer. After trying on approximately seven items, I returned them to hangers and exited the fitting room. At that point, the associate demanded that I remove and hang the shirt that I had not brought into the dressing room. I explained that it was not mine. She became visibly frustrated, entered the room herself, and then shifted her focus to insisting that I return all of my items to the exact locations on the sales floor where I had found them. I placed the clothing neatly on the rack provided near the fitting room, which is standard practice in most retail stores. I declined to return the items to the sales floor, as that is typically handled by store staff to ensure proper organization. The situation escalated significantly when the associate followed me out of the fitting area and toward the front of the store, continuing to confront me. She then called me a "horrible human being" and used an additional demeaning term toward me. Racially motivated ! Being followed and verbally insulted while exiting the store was both shocking and unacceptable. I think she forgot what her job actually was and that was too curate the clothing, and to rehang them up she had the nerve to continue following me and would have exited the store to follow me. Had someone else stopped her I am a 50-year-old customer who has shopped in retail stores my entire life, and I have never experienced anything remotely like this. You have to go with the hustle and bustle and hope that you don't forget anything. On top of that, you really have to pay attention to see where departments are in this store. I had several items I knew I needed to get and I didn't want to make anymore stops than I needed to on my way home. Plus, I had a plan to stay in all weekend and this would fulfill that plan as well. I came in and darted to areas that I knew I needed to go to. I was amazed by the fact that everything I needed was stocked and available. I made it a point to not get a cart or basket because I didn't need to buy anything just because I saw. Using only my hands to grab the items helped in this train of thought. You can only carry so many items and this limited me to impulse buying. Then I got to the registers and this is where it kind of turns into the hunger games. You can either take your chances and stand in one of the two long lines at registers that are manned. Or you can stand in line at the self checkouts and hope that the people in front of you know how to use them and use them fast. I chose the latter and almost regretted this as the people in front of me were slower than I expected. I did end up getting through my own checkout quickly and since I had my own bag ready, I was out of that area and on my way back out. Why the freight elevator is at the entrance of this place, I don't know, as it is a big obstacle to go around when entering and exiting. And the exit side is almost always littered with people that you have to sidestep with the best of them.
