Very lukewarm (nearly cold) reception. We came here looking to buy two check-in luggages (medium and large). The man in the store, standing behind the counter, seemed uninterested in helping us. Didn't mention any Labor Day sale or anything. He merely pointed to all the luggages and told us they all have labels, and in each pile there are medium and large luggages. That's it. I locked myself out of my carry-on 3 hours before my flight at DCA. In a desperate Hail Mary attempt I called Luggage Plus and the man who answered said "I haven't met a case I can't open, bring it on in" When I came by, Kevin was a bit unsure as he hadn't actually ever unlocked this kind of luggage (an aluminum rimowa piece) however, he got it open quickly and saved the day. This store is accurately described. There are lots of luggage items (almost too much as some of the walking areas are narrow and you are navigating your step). The staff greeted me quickly and were happy to help. Both employees were eating behind the desk and greeted me while sitting down. I walked around the store. There wasn't a lack of suitcases. I had hoped for more of the "plus" items. The employees continued their personal conversation while I looked around the store. One of the employees asked if I was looking for something in particular. I said I wanted a small purse/backpack like the one I had. I wanted something flat that wouldn't look like a large backpack, but could be worn like one. The employee showed me a small bag that could be worn like a sling pack. It wasn't the color or shape I wanted. I can understand why someone would not want to stand all day, especially on an unforgiving floor. When a customer is approaching the store, at least one of the employees could get up and make the customer feel more welcome. read more

Wonderful experience buying luggage. All luggage is basically overpriced everywhere, but at least the sales rep. (Who had a thick Scottish accent) was extremely helpful at finding the VALUE in which brands fit with my budget and needs. She was Polite. VERY KNOWLEDGABLE. I was locked out of my ridiculous Rimowa aluminum suitcase which was grossly overpacked - 70 pounds easy. No idea what the codes were. This is the fault of TSA - never locked it before. Internet advises me to call authorized Rimowa dealer. Dealer advises me to call Luggage Plus in Pentagon City. Person picks up the phone and cuts me off in the middle of my tale of woe.... "never seen a suitcase I couldn't get into, bring it in". I lug it to the third floor of Pentagon City next to Nordstrom, expecting drudgery and tedium and a bunch of bitching, but Kevin was delightful. Not only did he unlock the case, he reset the codes so I now know what they are AND he was hilarious. BTW Luggage Plus doesn't EVEN CARRY RIMOWA - the most absurd luggage ever made unless you are a member of a drug cartel or it is your job to carry the nuclear football. Who am I a rapper? No. If you need Luggage DEFINITELY go to Luggage Plus and Kevin will hook you up with practical, reasonable, easy to understand luggage that is reasonably priced. read more

Ok, headed back again this time to shop for carry on options. Same great service and positive experience! Looked at several different bags and Kevin took the time to logically and fairly go over the pros and cons of each. Zero pressure toward one or the other and asked intelligent questions about how I pack and travel to give reasonable suggestions. Even steered me away from a particular (oddly more expensive) item I had researched online, showing me why it wouldn't work how I'd envisioned. Was in the market for new luggage, looking at the name brands, Tumi, Samsonite, etc. and by chance, after going to the Tumi store at the Pentagon City Mall, decided to check out Luggage Plus. Not only do they have a great selection, Kevin helped us understand what it was we needed and directed us to a company I hadn't heard of before, Briggs and Riley - and while he wasn't pushy, he showed us exactly why it was right for us - the quality, warranty, size, features - it was well worth the price AND less expensive than what we had been looking at online elsewhere. Kevin was excellent - held aside the bags we wanted in the color we wanted while we took a few days to consider research all options and ended up coming back and buying exactly what Kevin suggested.
