Not only was the woman behind the counter so friendly and polite, she was helpful. A few days later, she showed me the dress, and it looked fixed. When I arrived home to try it on, I could tell she did wonders. While the price I paid in the end was not the one she initially quoted, I was ok with paying slightly more as it involved fixing the hem and pleats of the bottom half of a dress as well as potentially adjusting the side seams where the pockets were. Additionally, she did caveat that she might not be able to fix the dress so I appreciated her upfront-ness. And so for the last two months, I have trekked to Farragut Square, greeting the folks behind the front desk and walking into the quaint space that is Barr Cleaners where the woman greets me by name and asks when I need my items. She is always flexible and can turn the items around within a day or two, if it's not a lot. Most of the times, I tell her she can take her time, and even still, it's only a couple of days, and I'm ok with that. The most recent dress I brought in clearly showed wear, and when I asked if she could take care of it, she smiled and said in her cute way, "No problem." Prices are a little pricey, but the service is worth it in my opinion.

As I inquired about the charge for the repair and expeditious service, James quickly replied that the repair was a "Thanksgiving gift." As I insisted further, James politely declined to accept any payment. Whilst this repair seemed rather routine, I was immediately impressed by Penn Cleaners' commitment to customer servic. I was extremely pleased with the results. Over the past year I've brought dresses, blazers, jackets and even regular clothing that I don't trust my washing machine to use (it's violent and destroys everything). My clothes come back clean, on time, never damaged or still stained (on the contrary, they were able to remove some stains for me) and I'm always greeted by kind and friendly people. They take credit cards now, so the reviews that complain about only taking cash or check should be disregarded. All in all, I haven't been let down yet and I'll continue to go as long as I live here. Keep in mind most of these reviews you're reading are several years old. Managements change. Businesses evolve. And I'm willing to bet this one did.

Then, digging down into the icebox inside the cart, he grabbed a cold Coke, which he wrapped with napkins before putting in my bag. Coming here gave me a flashback to my early childhood in the late 70s. I think my mom used to get her hair done here back in the day. Overall its not bad its just sort of blah looking. What it does have going for it is a nice open outdoor space in the middle of the shops there. Granted if you're not going for something specific (i.e. Segway or bike tour) the only other likely reason you might come by is 1. if you live nearby, or 2. if you work nearby.
