Please anyone in need of a rental car be very careful if you are renting from Avis on university avenue. The car they gave me had a engine problems and almost broke down in the middle of the desert. They knew something was wrong with the car cause the customer that returned the car told them in front of us. I asked them that the car wasn't safe to rent they repeatedly lied saying it was nothing just a light that has to be deactivated that the car was in perfect condition. Had a reservation through rentalcars.com, showed up and it was as if they had never heard of it. Said it didn't go through because they closed early the day I booked it. Didn't get my car the day I was supposed to go on a work trip, and had to scramble last minute to figure everything out. Avoid this location! We had a reservation for a mid size SUV, but when we arrived they didn't have a car for us. We have been waiting around for over a half an hour, but no resolution. Their only suggestion was to go to the Indiana location and hopefully they will have a car available. My mom agreed to that, but then they stated she should call customer service first. Absolutely ridiculous! There are cars on site, but they are for other reservations or Uber, so they are not options for us apparently. Instead we wait around and our plans get further behind schedule due to poor supply and overall management of the reservations. read more

Worst godawful rental location I have ever been to in my life. There is no customer service whatsoever, that's nonexistent. This location is both Avis & Budget by the way. The guy there was absolutely awful, so old and rude to everyone, and wore a backwards LA cap.Tried marking up their online quote by $50.00 so I just booked online. He demanded I give him my insurance policy number when I declined his insurance, which no rental agency ever does. Then, continues to try and push selling his crap car rental insurance, despite his horrendous attitude and angry miserable face. Then, doesn't list all the scratches, dents, damages I see on the vehicle. He said just if it's major. I told him I'm going to take a video and pictures of this vehicle so you don't charge me for this. He said yea that's fine. Car smelled like smoke when I got in, and it was filthy inside and out. I don't think it was cleaned after the last person rented it. I only went here because enterprise was out of cars, and I couldn't make it to the airport car rentals which are always a better experience. Been renting at this location for many years. Most recent rental was last week. I've never had a problem renting a car and their prices are very good. Yes, most of the time their vehicles have higher mileage than the airport locations. But I think they probably send airport vehicles to the neighborhood branches when they get to be a certain mileage. Employees are always friendly and the wait is not too bad. She told me one thing then claimed she never said what she said and I was forced to pay more money and spend more money on gas. I will never rent a vehicle from Budget/avis ever again. This was most pleasant surprise of a neighborhood business on the Eastside in Riverside,CA. I was traveling 205 miles estimated 4-6 hours drive due to traffic for a family function service. I had decided to rent a car similar to the one I own. I called around and many rental companies offered a Kia Soul but would not GUARANTEE that I could have one on the day I needed to pickup the car. I called this Avis office & talked with the manager explaining my NEED for a Kia Soul. He told me he had 3 on the lot and would Guarantee I would have one on the day I was to pick it up. The SERVICE here is outstanding, and was treated with warmth & respect. Their onsite mechanic offered & provided for automotive help as well...way out of the norm. This was in November 2022. I recently was in need of a possible rental and I went back a couple of days ago. All personnel remembered me (facial recognition) from 10 months ago. I also needed some mechanical advice regarding my car and the mechanic came through like a champion. This business will connect to be my number one choice with this management & staff. read more

This review is way overdue. Shane is INCREDIBLE and went out of his way to assist me throughout the car buying process. If you didn't know, Avis sells their rental cars after a few years of being in service, and they have some great deals if you're in the market. Avis can transport any car that is listed in the same region as their closest Car Rental site, you can then test drive that specific car for three days. If you are satisfied, you can go ahead and start the car buying process. Sometimes, Avis is difficult to get ahold of on the phone, so Shane was my only reliable point of contact throughout the process, and he did an incredible job. He walked me through everything in the process and the documentation. He also looked over the cars that I had transported to this location and gave his recommendation on certain ones. He was very patient very kind very understanding because of the frustration that goes with Customer Service for Avis and Budget on the weekend. Have no idea if the locations have vehicles are not they just schedule people to come in without checking. I've been to five different locations this morning every location Does not have no vehicles and this makes no sense. Customer Service should be held responsible. Ontario Airport Location charged me over -$1200 for a large SUV they claimed was all they had at the time I began my rental, instead of a more economically reasonable rental for my getting around town. Whereby, in contrast, I find all other Agencies, as well as other Avis locations more accommodating in providing flexible options, at affordable price points. read more

Unprofessional. Tried to push additional insurance on us when it wasn't necessary. Rented us a vehicle without a full tank of gas. They kept stating that "the computer" would penalize us if the gas tank level wasn't exactly at 3/4 of a tank. Even tried to encourage us to rent for more than the needed one day. read more

I am leaving this review on two AVIS locations because they worked in tandem to give me INCREDIBLE customer-service. My 2021 Thanksgiving adventure started with Shane at the AVIS location on University in Riverside, CA. (I was driving from CA to Texas.) I was the first customer in the door and Shane found a great car for me and had me out the door in about 15 minutes, which I appreciated because of my LONG drive. Unfortunately, when I arrived to Dallas, Texas the catalytic converter was stolen from under the rental car. After a moderate panic-attack I drove to the AVIS on Preston Road. Renee celebrated with me about my decision to buy extra insurance protection and then swapped the car out. She was patient, sincere and cheerful; it redeemed my day. The "adventure" continued when I blew a flat tire between New Mexico and Arizona on a Sunday (which means most Avis locations were closed (early)). After getting the doughnut on the car, I drove to the Tucson Airport and swapped the car a second time. When I returned the car to Shane in Riverside, I was half-expecting an "after the fact" charge. Shane was very understanding and kind. He also celebrated my decision to buy the extra insurance and gave me a final receipt with no additional charges. I can't share enough gratitude and endorsement for AVIS, specifically these two locations. read more

This location needs a Consistent Audit, clean inside interior, windows dirty inside n out, exterior car dirty, dirt build-up on front windshield, and this vehicle had just came out of the wash area. Representative was okay with the condition as it was delivered to me as a ready vehicle to Avis Standards. I mentioned the Windows, asked for them to be cleaned, and offered to do myself if no one was willing to clean them. Ironically I ended up Cleaning them Myself with Their Supplies,as the Representative watched by my side. The Representative that Assisted me indicated if I didn't like the vehicle I didn't have to take it, and Could Go Elsewhere to Rent a Vehicle. Representative Also Indicated I Would Not Be Able To Rent From Them Again. I Hope Avis Addresses This Store, The Representative, Also Beware! I seen Multiple Vehicles with Front or Rear Tires At or Just Below The Wear Bar! Obviously it seems the vehicles are Not maintained for basic Maintenance or all the tires would have been worn more evenly. I'm So Sorry To Even Write This, But If I Didn't No One Would Know, and this would be Acceptable. I had One Previous Bad Experience With Avis About 2 years ago in another state, I ended up renting from Avis still, but a different location with Much Better People, and Better Customer Service.
