Chicken entree

Went on a Friday night with reservations. Seated quickly where we requested. Great service and drink order & apps, chicken wings, were fantastic. Of the two entrees we ordered the chicken was the better choice. I've had bolognese many places and this entree was underwhelming. Also the music selection was an interesting choice for the establishment, hard rock was playing, not really adding to the ambience. Will definitely return and hope for them to hit it out of the park like they usually do.

One of my favorite places in the area. Food is delicious and we were able to snag bar seats (the bar space isn't huge but the bartenders are good about having people move down so more can fit!). Also love that they're one of the only places I've been able to find a decaf espresso martini!

Lobster Paella

This is our first time at Avenue. It is by far one of the top restaurants in this area. The food was superb. The waitstaff was exceptional. We will certainly make this our go to restaurant for a nicer dining experience.

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's so nice to have such a great restaurant so close-I don't have to go all the way into Boston for a good food. I love that they have a mock tail menu. I highly recommend their Olive Oil cake.

Love the light wood burning smell when you walk in. Just enough aroma to make you hungry but not enough to worry you will smell afterwards. Lovely ambiance, welcoming staff, and the food was really nicely done. Everything was seasoned very well. We had the back Tino, cod, and seasonal lobster flatbread. Everyone enjoy

I want to like this place, but it is just too expensive. If you go, I recommend the bar area.

Wonderful fresh food. I especially love their pizzas with unique taste. Their chicken dish is outstanding also.

I saw on the website that you can order gift cards to be mailed... but does anyone know if they also sell them in-person at the restaurant?

Yes we do. Anytime after 4:30pm everyday.

It's such a cute spot - with a more laid back pub side and a more formal dining room on another side. It's such a great addition to the area!

This was our first time going since it had opened as the Fireside Tavern. It is fair to say we were underwhelmed. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and it had a lot of vermouth in it which is not the correct way to prepare it. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which was very good. Crispy and tender with delicious hot peppers added in as well. For the main courses we got the Chicken Piccata severed over Gnocchi which was good but nothing special. Gnocchi were a bit denser than we like. Our other main was the Seafood Paella. On the plus side it had a lot of seafood in it, mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and a white fish. All of the sish was cooked well and was tender and juicy. However it did not appear to be cooked in a Paella pan so you didn't get some of those bites of crispy rice and the seasoning was off it had no saffron or tomatoes like I am used to. It was more like a plain rice that they added peas, carrots, and red pepper. Just didn't taste like any form of the paella that I have eaten previously. Jenna our server was awesome and attentive but not overbearing. She was fantastic and made for an enjoyable evening.

Great food and service! Fun environment at night too. Food always tastes fresh and great portionsread more

A few more visits, a few more items. Same score…read more -- Chicken Wings: Once coming in near-perfect in size, crispness, tenderness, juiciness, and strength of the five spice marinade. This is a must order every visit. Elite and arguably the best in the region. -- Beef Teriyaki: Merely good on the first visit, but superb on the next. Great combination of light char, good tenderness, and gingery taste. Near-elite to elite. -- Spareribs on the Bone: Recently added, this had sweet, bright red sauce, the all-important char, but the browned cross sections (and slightly cold bites on some) revealed a reheat. A little on the tough side. Flavor, yay; texture, nay. Average. -- Beef Fried Rice: Not old school at all, but very good as simply rice. Fresh, light of color and texture, but pleasing silky. Plenty of tender beef, supported by egg, onion, and bean sprouts. This could be a meal on its own. Well above average and more impressive than the photo suggests. -- General Gao's Chicken: A beautiful presentation, with the chicken nestled in a circular broccoli arrangement and flower on the side. Light batter and good chicken-to-batter ratio, though the flower on the plate had a pretty high ratio too. High quality chicken and nicely tender. Fairly tame sauce treatment, with minimal spice. Above average. -- Hong Kong Shrimp: Huge shrimp, plenty of them, and nice presentation with the string beans fanned out beneath them. A little on the sweet side and not much flavor. Not bad, but probably wouldn't get this again. -- Beef Chow Fun: A hearty dish of thick rice noodles, with onions and well-cooked beef that had both crust and tenderness. The noodles themselves were very soft-- closer to mushy than chewy. Not a bad thing; it all depends on what you like. With a couple items elite (chicken wings and beef teriyaki) and most items solid, Kawaii is worth a visit. There's a superfan and self-appointed Chinese food expert out there whose promotional "reviews" suggest everything is perfect every time, which isn't the case, but Kawaii comes through more often than not, so it earns my recommendation. Much too good to be a 3 and too many flaws to be a 5, so a 4-star rating is exactly right for them.
