We walked in Sunday around 11:30am. It was busy, but they were able to seat us inside right away. Outside seating was all taken. Before we sat down, an outdoor table opened up so we were able to move outside. We ordered eggs benedict with gravy, French toast, blueberry pancake, veggie omelette. Looking for a hardy breakfast place in Lodi. So glad we stopped here. I ordered the Poor Man's Benedict and the hubby ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla. Had to try the hotcakes too so we ordered a small side, it was pleasantly not small. The serve big portions! I am a big biscuits and gravy and they did not disappoint! Under the biscuits and gravy is one egg and one sausage patty. I really enjoyed my meal. Had to bring half home. Breakfast quesadilla was good but it had a lot of potatoes. This is why the review is only four stars. It could've been filled with more of the ham and vegetables, just less potatoes. The hotcakes flavor was really great. First time here as we were out of town in the great Lodi, I thought the food (breakfast burrito) was good at first...until several hours later, my stomach had the worst bubbles guts, severe cramping, teeth clenching pain!!! I didn't even make it home before I had to pull over at a gas station in Sacramento and blew it up! I had 15 minutes left until I was home and I almost pulled over on the side of the road or was going to go in my pants, I accepted it at that point and said F it, it was that bad, nothing else I could do! Fabulous experience at Avenue Grill. You'll find this gem in the Rite Aid shopping center. When I pulled up and saw the line out front I knew it was going to be a wait but also they'd have fabulous breakfast. I checked in, waited 15 minutes or so, my mom arrived and they called us to our table. We sat inside; there is indoor, covered patio and tables out front dining areas. We were greeted and served our beverages by a sweet, young gal. Desiree was our waitress. She was friendly, looked happy to be there and provided us a great experience with ordering our food, receipt of our meals and checked on us throughout our experience. There are several wait staff members and they all were hustling, friendly and seemed to be working together to refill drinks, get food served, bus tables, etc. The restaurant was super busy. I had the meat lovers omelette. Normally it's served with 5 eggs, I opted for 2. This reduces the price by a couple bucks. But that's not why I opted for less eggs. The omelette was LOADED, jam packed with ham, bacon, sausage and I opted for Jack cheese. Normally comes with potatoes but I declined them, just a personal preference. Instead of toast or English muffin I opted for a home made biscuit. Biscuit looked to be baked on a muffin tin and was dynamite! I cannot say enough good about our meal. Food was fresh, cooked to order, hot and generous portions. Several cooks in the kitchen, hustling and working on orders. Amazing to watch their hard work and the beautiful meals. My mom got this potato, bacon, peppers, onions cheese concoction minus the green peppers with two over medium eggs on top. It started off a bit rough. A nice young man told to sit anywhere, easy enough to say, but at 7:30 am on a Saturday morning, they were already almost full. So we grabbed the closest, a 4 top, table. But then a very worried young waitress rushed over and blurted out we couldn't sit there. It seems that was the unofficial "Breakfast Club" table. So, ok. One other table was free, and we moved. We, mere passer-byers, watched in curiosity as the mysterious claimants, 3 old guys, arrived shortly thereafter. Maybe we had nearly infringed on honored, Lodi War Heroes? Or small town royalty? No hard feelings. As luck would have it, we ended up with Stacy as our server, instead. A delightful, animated personality, extremely informative and so friendly, she made it impossible to give the opening drama a second thought. Loved the vast breakfast menu, but our breakfast order was predictable for us. When visiting a small town diner in the dead center of the San Joaquin Valley (think 'Happy Days' territory) you would be daft to do otherwise than look for the greatest Chicken Fried Steak in town. Mr. B's CFS breakfast came with a sizeable serving of potatoes and properly executed fried eggs. His pancakes, we would not return for, but I have to admit, they generously covered a separate plate. A word of warning, they have a nice choice of omelets. These start with 5 eggs. You could easily split an order and waddle out of there, stuffed. They looked really wonderful, and were popping up on most of the tables surrounding us. I would not have hesitated to order one, if the fried chicken hadn't already caught my eye. Served as breakfast, my meal included my choice of scrambled eggs (very nicely done), tasty potatoes, and English muffin. The chicken? Looked great, but in all honesty, was under seasoned and close to being overcooked. I would return for an omelet, not this. The gravy is a thick, southern style, cream gravy. Overall, our experience was a happy one. I cannot say enough about Stacy, her exuberant personality and excellence as a server. This place exists on the shoulders of the humble, hard working middle class and substantial retiree population. They instinctively know where to find the best food and best prices. Let's talk about the Avenue Grill! My wife and I are both chefs so we rarely go out to eat, but sometimes we want a break and breakfast is our love language! After a lot of walking at the Galt flea market we came across this little spot on our way home and boy were we happy! The portions are Huge! We had the chicken fried steak breakfast with a biscuit and gravy and tried a single slice of the French toast! I don't know what they do to that but the best French toast I have had! The chicken fried steak is perfectly seasoned and crispy with a delicious gravy on top and sits on crispy home fried potatoes! I took the left overs home and had a breakfast bowl. We're here from out of town and I did a search on Yelp for a decent breakfast/brunch spot. Avenue Grill is located in a shopping plaza on Lodi Ave. with plenty of shared parking available. This is a total local spot where the waitresses seemed to know many of the customers. It's somewhat of a hole-in-the-wall inside, but they have a covered patio area outside to accommodate extra seating. We arrived around 9:00am on a Sat. morning and seated right away, but when we left, there were already people waiting outside. They're open every day from 6am - 2pm (Sat. until 3pm) and breakfast is served all day. Their menu offers a myriad of breakfast and lunch options, such as omelets, pancakes, French toast, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Prices are on par with typical coffee shops. I ordered the One French Toast Combo which came with 2 bacon and 1 egg (although they gave me 3 bacon and 2 eggs) for $10.50. I asked for a side of peanut butter with my French toast because PB makes me happy. The French toast was thin but tasty. The bacon was crispy and perfect in every way. And the eggs were sunny as I like my days. Hubby got the egg breakfast with linguica which came with country style potatoes and toast for $9.50. He loved every bite of it! They give big portions so it's an excellent value. Service is really what puts this place over the top! Our waitress (wish I would've gotten her name) literally ran the show. The pancakes are delicious and the ham was thick cut and nicely salty. You get a lot of bacon and the over easy eggs we're cooked to perfection. I came here with my family for brunch. We asked for a table of 7 which they didn't have available and obviously we had to wait. We waited there past an hour. They kept sitting other people who got there later than us. We asked on our table and we were still told they didn't have any available. How are you going to have tables ready if you keep on sitting down people who came later than us. When seated we got seated in a booth made for 6 people. Waited 30+ minutes to be asked for our order. We were only asked for our drinks. Our server came coming out and making eye contact with us but never came to our table. When ordering our drinks. Some of us who ordered hot chocolate milk tasted like expired. We left the table as service was poor and drinks were not right. We took a drive from Elk Grove to Lodi to try a new place my husband found on yelp. It's located in the Rite Aid parking lot in a strip mall. It's pretty cramped inside. There is a bar to sit at & lots of small tables. We were seated right away & the staff were very friendly. We shared a meat lover omelette & a large pancake. We also had hot chocolate & coffee. There is nothing fancy about the place but the ambiance was good & our food was pretty good. They have outdoor, enclosed eating also & provide heaters. Avenue Grill is located in a shopping center, so no problems finding parking. It's nice and cozy indoors, reminiscent of a country home- small tables with lots of fixings for breakfast- ketchup, hot sauces, jams, sugar for coffee etc. We were greeted right away and service was good. Seemed clean- we ordered a potato platter and a breakfast burrito- we found the prices to be a little high though the portions were big- potato platter was 16.50 for potatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms... it was tasty, but that's a lot for potatoes. The breakfast burrito was a better value for almost 10.00. All in all a good time. It's a popular breakfast place for sure and worth a try. I had breakfast at the Avenue Grill. I went with the chorizo burrito. The description of the burrito didn't mention any onions and I even asked the waitress what was in the burrito and she told me. No mention of onions. Cool right? Food came out fast. Time to eat. unfortunately, my first bite, I had a piece of onion. YUCK! The potatoes are made with onions. Hubby opted for poor man's Benedict which was a biscuit stuffed with an egg and sausage patty, topped with gravy side of country potatoes. He liked the gravy very much, could tell it was truly homemade and had great flavor.
