    The old-school atmosphere
    Christopher B.

Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at approx. 4:30 PM Waitress: Liliana (Lily) OVERVIEW: Was on the way back to Stockton from Jackson and wanted some old-school steak & eggs from an old-school diner. Will probably come again someday, but not in any rush to do so. PROS: - Nice old-school diner atmosphere, with old-school menu choices & lots of old-school customers. - Excellent parking - Unlike other corporate-backed diners with high overheads, this venue is adequately staffed to keep the flow of business moving. - Friendly staff & clean bathrooms CONS: - Paper plates & plastic forks? RU Kidding? Lily said that their washing machine was broken, thus the paper & plastic. But having my meal served in this manner really ruined the general vibe of my dinner. - The portions were good. But the flavor was just OK. It felt like the general food experience didn't match the level of the nostalgic atmosphere of the interior. SUMMARY: If you want to enjoy the old Americana dining atmosphere, (something that is disappearing in this age of inflation) this place is definitely a nugget. Just don't expect 5 Star quality food.

We had great service at Richmaid restaurant. We had a large party (there were 10 of us) and our server Lily was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant's ambiance is old school diner, which makes sense because I heard they've been open since the 1930's! They have a diner area and then an additional room where we sat, and it would be a great place for a larger get together. Plenty of parking and lots of menu options. The reason for my two star rating was the food...I'd heard great things and had pretty high expectations, but the food didn't live up to the hype. I chose the pot roast, which in hindsight may have been a bad decision. The menu says it's "available until it's gone for the day", so I expected a homemade pot roast. I'm 99.9% certain it was actually beef from a can. Speaking of cans, also pretty sure the gravy was from a can too. Everything was very, very salty. I paid an extra $3 to have one of my sides be onion rings, but they were very soggy and the flavor was just off. With their dinners, you get a soup or salad, your entree with choice of two sides, and ice cream for dessert. The salad was iceberg lettuce, carrots, and beets with ranch and honestly, it was the best thing I ate. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen, maybe I chose the wrong menu item...either way, it was really bad. I am however thankful for the good service!

We dined in for breakfast while we were in Lodi. This long standing locally owned family diner started as a creamery in the 1930's and all these years later is this family run diner. It was cool to visit and dine in a piece of Lodi's history. The diner judging from the photos on the counter hasn't changed over the years. We were greeted as we entered and seated promptly in a corner booth and given our coffees and a moment to look over their menu. They had something for everyone. We ordered their chicken and waffles and a ham steak with scrambled eggs and country potatoes. Both were delicious and we had leftovers. Their prices to portion ratio were just right and service was spot on! We would definitely return the next time we're in Lodi.

Richmaid Restaurant is a hidden gem! The fried chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful! Definitely not dry at all. We ordered the chicken and waffles plus a side of biscuits and gravy, and everything was so delicious. You can really taste the love in the food. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and it's a family-owned business! Highly recommend supporting them and enjoying some amazing food!

My grandparents lived in Lodi when I was a child - I was actually born there, and I remember Richmaid ice cream! 72 year later, I was with my son & saw that there is a Richmaid Restaurant, so had to check it out! It's such a cute place with that 50's vibe. The service was great and the food was delicious! We had lunch & I had the Beer Battered Cod from the senior menu, which was delicious. The portions were HUGE and came with soup or salad, another side (I had coleslaw) and ICE CREAM! A super bargain for under $20! Everything on the menu looked so good, that we got some broasted chicken to take home. I also took home a slice of peach pie. This is the kind of food I remember from my childhood and is the best of everything! So many calories, but amazingly delicious! I'll definitely return for another round!

Food was delicious. Maybe some of the best chicken and waffles I've had. Big portion and well priced. Staff is so friendly.

Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetables.

The chicken was amazing! Service was good, our server was nice she took the time to answer questions about the chicken. I love the decor!

This is one of the old reliable breakfast places for me and my wife and happy to say it's still a classic but with a slight increase to prices. We both got our usual spreads and everything still hits the spot. Fast and friendly service as always with the ambiance to match.

It was our first time going here. A few of our friends have told us about it and that we need to their fried chicken. We decided to go for breakfast. It is located in an ok area of Lodi. The parking is decent. The restaurant kind of reminds me of like a Mel's Diner. The service was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was very good. I had a little taste of the hubby's chicken fried chicken and boy their chicken is so good. It's light and crispy. So perfectly fried. So we definitely had to order their fried chicken. We will definitely go back here just to order more of their fried chicken.....

Ask the Community - Richmaid Restaurant

    Do they offer vegan options?

Very doubtful. I don't think they have vegetarian options.

We make an annual stop there because they have good liver and onions. BUT, last year the portion was very small. Has that changed?

    Less is the new Richmaid.

Bad: Their "Kobe" burger was $29 or so and was a good portion size. The problem? Lacking any kind of flavor or seasoning. The beef was flavorless. The stroganoff was a good portion size but again it was severely lacking in the seasoning department. Good: Those who ordered the corn soup and the porcini mushroom ravioli enjoyed them. They especially enjoyed the sauce from the ravioli. The desserts overall were enjoyed by the table. The sticky toffee pudding, while not as rich as we are used to, was still relatively good; soft and moist enough. The dark chocolate oblong with mango passion fruit was enjoyed by everyone too. The interior remains unchanged; like a classy London gastropub. Service: communication is key. Where they dropped the ball was that we mentioned on the reservation that we were there for Father's Day and prime rib, which they do on Sundays. As you walk in you even see the sign for the prime rib special. We sat down and the server mentioned that there was no prime rib this weekend. I had even chatted with them on the reservation app and they made no mention of this. We could have gone somewhere else had we known in advanced. Our server was relatively nice too.

We made a brunch reservation for 11:30am, though we ended up ordering off the regular menu rather than brunch. That was the first odd note of the afternoon. Before the appetizers, they brought out focaccia with herbed butter, a nice alternative to the standard bread basket. The calamari appetizer with marinara and tartar sauce was fine, nothing memorable. My mom's eggplant parmesan arrived warm but not hot and cooled down quickly. The pizzas, a Funghi and a Margherita, were cooked well in the stone oven and were genuinely the best thing on the table, but they arrived warm and cooled down quickly, the same issue as my mom's eggplant parmesan. With the air conditioning blowing directly overhead, hot food didn't really stand a chance. The service is where things unraveled. When we were first seated, the manager came by and helped with my dad's walker, which was a nice touch. After that it went downhill. When my dad asked for something light, the waiter recommended the carbonara, a dish built on guanciale, grana, egg, and black pepper. That's not light by any definition. It's a basic gap in menu knowledge that does the guest a disservice. The menu also had salmon, ricotta toast, and eggs in purgatory. My dad also asked for red pepper flakes to go with his pizza and they took unusually long to arrive, so he had to flag down a different waiter to get them. The waiter noticed I was drinking my Bloody Mary slowly and offered a different version that actually tasted better. If there's a preferred version, lead with it. When I made eye contact to signal we were ready to pay, he acknowledged it but continued socializing with a coworker before finally coming over and taking my card, as if he was surprised we wanted to pay. When a customer is ready, they're ready. He took my card, asked if we wanted dessert, went to grab the dessert menu, then handed it back. Just hold onto the card. I'm paying with the same card regardless. Handing it back makes no sense. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, with a full bar, outdoor seating, a small store at the entrance, and a vegetable garden out front. It's a great setting. Dinner service might be a different experience, but on this visit the dining room wasn't particularly full, which made it more noticeable that the staff prioritized socializing over the guests in front of them. For the record, the suggested tip on the receipt started at 18%. On the way out, two hostesses stood by and did nothing while my parents, one of whom was on a walker, made their way to the door on their own. Getting the door is common courtesy for the elderly. Pietro's has the ingredients of a great restaurant. The space is beautiful, the stone oven pizza is genuinely good, and the brunch menu has real potential. But a restaurant is only as good as its execution, and right now the service and the food temperatures are letting the kitchen down. They just need to meet it.

It's contemporary and the furnishings are quite comfortable. It's the type of place you can settle in and have a casual meal without feeling rushed. Prices are high yet the quality is excellent. For the first evening at the bar we settled into a high top table. You can sit at the bar, lounge type seating or outdoors on a pleasantly shaded patio. They had an expanded bar bites menu as the main restaurant is closed on Wednesdays... most of it quite enticing. We opted for cocktails to start and I chose a specialty Date Maple Old Fashioned. It was really good with a large ice ball to chill it. For bar bites we shared the pork belly sandwiches (small, delicious but messy to eat), the sausage skewers (amazing!) and crab cups (refreshingly light and easy to eat). After cocktails we had glasses of a light white wine, made with Santorini Greek grapes. For the next meal in the dining room the place was a buzz with activity but conversation was easy without a lot of excessive noise. It's intimate and the room is quite pleasant for a gourmet meal. We started with cocktails (same Old Fashioned) and shared the grilled Brussels Sprouts which were plentiful and ever so delicious. They were slightly over grilled for my taste yet it didn't distract from me enjoying them. We got bread which was a baguette with butter and the consistency perfect for a French style loaf. For my entree I debated between the scallops and the pork chop and went with the chop. I was quite pleased as the chop came in thick slices and drizzled with a tarragon mustard reduction sauce. It was amazing, tender, juicy and at 22oz I couldn't finish it all. It came with a tasty apple sauce and grilled seared cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Ed, celebrating a birthday, had steak which came with a huge bowl of mashed potatoes which I tasted. Oh my gosh, the creamiest potatoes ever! For dessert we shared the cheese plate, a really great way to end the meal, with glasses of a twany port. All of the cheeses from a brie to a hard cheese were top quality. Service both times was very attentive, professional yet personable. We were well cared for and everything went smoothly. It's expensive yet the experience and value is worth visiting. The horseradish was outstanding. The ambience was a great experience, not sure I would recommend here , the quality does not match the price . Desert was good , coffee was good
