Wow. SQZ Burger has been open for nearly three years in Lodi and I never noticed it. I know I've driven past it many times, but I guess their signage is too modest compared to the huge "IDOL BEER WORKS" on the other end of the building. I figured it was just another iteration of the original (now long gone) Squeeze Inn in Sacramento, and I was right. I don't think the various locations are franchises, but are more likely independently owned, and the quality varies from location to location. The one that used to be in West Sac, for instance, was terrible, which might explain why it's been gone for years. And the mid-town was also a resounding MEH, and also gone. There's nothing at any version of Squeeze Inn/Burger that I want more than just a basic Squeeze (or in this case, SQZ) with Cheese, though. I don't want a taco, nor a BLT, and especially not chicken strips. I want that which made the brand famous. A cheeseburger with all the traditional toppings and a cheese skirt just dripping cheese grease off it. SQZ Burger delivers the goods. The cheese skirt was just the right size, not too big, not too small. At one point in my life I would have said that there's no such thing as a cheese skirt that's too big, but a couple of years ago I had a cheese skirt that was so big that I felt sick afterward from all the cheese grease! In addition to the just right amount of cheese, the burger had lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onion, and a healthy schmear of mayo and mustard. Damn near a perfect burger. The owner was running the register on my visit, and when she brought my food out, she asked if I wanted a side of ranch. I'm the kind of guy who would drink ranch dressing if I could, so of course I accepted. I didn't even ask - It was nice of her to offer! There's a throughline from the original Squeeze Inn on Power Inn Road to SQZ Burger, too. The father of the husband half of the H/W ownership team owned the original location. Brandon and Katie ran the Galt location for several years, and have now brought the goodness to a Lodi brick and mortar spot. I'll definitely be back. read more

Our Corvette club made a little drive from Sacramento to Lodi to visit IDOL Beer Works. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but thankfully SQZ Burger basically shares a building with IDOL and we all placed an order at SQZ. My wife had the burger with cheese skirt and fries. I had the western bacon cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry shake. These burger was full of flavor and BIG! Not sure exactly how they make their fries, but they're amazing. And my strawberry shake was good also. We had about 45 people all land at the same time, and SQZ was able to quickly get us all served in short order. I do love the vibe of both SQZ & IDOL. It was a nice little drive both ways with an epic food stop in between. read more

SQZ Burger - I took zero pictures of our food, but did get pictures of our cars. D'oh! - Burgers Near Me - Lodi, California

The western burger and California chicken sandwich were both delicious! We added a few chicken strips that were both crunchy and juicy. The real stars of the show were the fries, onion rings, and sauces (which they offer at no extra charge)! Fries were crispy, just the way we like. Drinks are endless self-service, the service was wonderful, and the restaurant was clean. We sat in front of the air conditioner for a comfy breeze. They also have a great outdoor area and patrons can take their food over to Lodi Beer to eat. Will definitely be back! read more

This is a great burger with freshly cooked bacon. I know people love the cheese skirt, but sometimes I think the skirt takes away from the burger. The fries were great. If you want a great burger and fries that do not come from a chain or a fast food places, check this place out. read more

Omg.. so yummy and so full. Spacious, and clean, located right next door to Idol Beer Works. There is a doorway that connects the two, so you can order food from Squeeze Burger and bring it next door. You place order at the counter. Hubby got the regular Cheese Squeeze Burger and I ordered the Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Both came with their house fries, but I upgraded to sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. We will be back soon read more

We were recently visiting Lodi for an event, our group was hungry so we turned to Yelp as we aren't familiar with the area. We needed a dog friendly spot and found Squeeze. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Super relaxed vibe with excellent service, they even brought us a water bowl for our fur baby. Our group tried a variety of menu items, from burgers to sweet potato fries to shakes. Everyone raved about their food! There is also a brewery next door and a cute boutique across the street. read more

We were at a vending event for Idol Beer Works called Lodi Art Hop and had dinner at Squeeze Burger! The environment is laid back with indoor and outdoor seating. The service and food here is always great. We go here monthly while enjoying taproom trivia at the IDOL Beerworks bar next door. I appreciate that they have a veggie patty. However, the service can be VERY slow depending on how busy they are. At best, you're looking at a 15-minute wait but last time they told us it would be at least 45 minutes. (They weren't kidding. People who ordered at 6:45 PM were finally getting their burgers and fries about an hour later -- when trivia was wrapping up.) read more

I have tried three meals from this location and I agree with so many of the other reviews that their fries are delicious. They are crunchy without being too crisp, they have just enough softness and they are really well seasoned. As far as burgers/sandwiches go so far I have not been impressed. I love a grilled cheese and their Grilled Cheddar Cheese was just average. I really don't get the whole cheese skirt thing, but I just pulled it off and the sandwich was quite basic. I was most disappointed with the Western Bacon SQZ Burger with Cheese. For the elevated price, I was expecting more. The TINY onion rings and " BBQ Mayo" with no BBQ flavor at all did not give me western vibes. What I did taste were the giant lengthwise pickle slices. I like a good pickle, but not on a western and not when it is so big that it overpowers the burger. I took the pickles out and ate them on the side and the sandwich was still a let down. Their BLT was a bit dry and simple but ok overall and withe the crisp lettuce and toasted sourdough flavor, it was actually the best thing I have gotten from them so far. The sandwich price is reasonable as well. There are still a few items I would like to try and I am keeping my fingers crossed they will raise my rating. read more

Still a bit expensive for what you are getting but they have gotten better with food quality. If they can I would cook the burgers a little less well done. On the verge of being dry. The person running the register is friendly but a bit flustered when busy. Everyone else seems very serious. Should be relaxed having fun in a restaurant like this. Love the spot. Grey combo setting with the brewery. read more

SQZ Burger - Burger, fries and onion rings. - Burgers Near Me - Lodi, California

I was excited that we were finally going to get a place that serves big juicy patties instead of thin over cooked patties like everyone else in town. And these burgers are delicious. However, I'm only giving them three stars because out of the six or seven times I've ordered from here, they have managed to get my order wrong in some way each time. The cheese skirt is a neat gimmick but frankly I can do without it. Just put a slice of cheese on the burger if that's what I ask for. Don't make a skirt, then trim it, and fold it under the patty. And when I order a cheeseburger, don't give me a veggie burger. I don't know how one could make that mistake, but that was a very disappointing time. One's ability to follow an order placed has a direct reflection on the restaurant that you work for. I never struggled with that when I was flipping burgers as a 16 year old. Sometimes it helps to measure twice and cut once so they say. So read the order twice to be sure and don't just go on auto pilot. I'll certainly give them another try at some point, but I have been avoiding this place because I am tired of being disappointed. read more

I decided to finally try this place in Lodi. I have tried the one in Galt long ago and really liked it. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! We ordered through GrubHub and chose the Cheese Sliders with fries and the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Both entrees came with fries included with the price. Fair pricing for the amount of food you get ($13 for 2 quarter lb sliders with fries)! The flavor of the burger meat was great! The patties were not dry and the cheese skirt around both was plentiful! Fold up the excess and you can enjoy it alone. I ordered the fries without salt so they arrived really fresh. Not greasy either. My husband really enjoyed his cheesesteak sandwich which had a lot of meat in it. His meal included onion rings which were really good! The only thing missing was the au jus to dip the sandwich in. We will try this place again in person. I do recommend this place for delicious, grilled food! read more

So another visit because I am totally convinced that this place has just about the best basic fires anywhere. Now their hamburgers are awesome too - very tasty and bit more expensive than a decent burger at Carl Jr's but the meat is a much higher quality. As always the service is top notch and friendly. The place is nice and clean with a very chill vibe. So it will cost you about $5 -$10 more than a run the Carl Jrs but the quality of the food is much higher. read more

Tried Squeeze Burger for the first time today, clean tables and nice ambience. Friendly lady took our order of 2 cheese burgers, fries and drinks was a little sticker shocked at $39. total but hoping for a good outcome. We came in at 753p on Friday and the cook and register lady both did not look happy about it. Upon getting ready to order we were told that they were closed. I stated to the lady that their posted hours on their door say they close at 9p. She stated that they close at 8p. I said well it is not 8p yet either however, clearly sensing our business was not wanted we went somewhere else. They probably had everything cleaned up and were wanting to leave quick but not the best experience obviously. Either update your hours to be reflective of what they are or update your service. read more

I remember seeing Squeeze Inn or whatever it was called at the time on food network years ago. Always hoped to try it, never got the chance. One opened in Sac, I work in Sac, but never got the chance. One day we notice a squeeze burger truck not too far from our house. Then we found out that we'd met the owners and cooked for them. The Burger Gods had obviously had enough of my lack of faith. Divinely inspired, my wife and I were ready to finally hear the gospel of the ring of cheese. I had heard rumors of beefy miracles. The talks of prophetically crispy cheese. To be totally transparent, I was pretty sure this new testament to burger making was all smoke and mirrors. Some dude and wife in some 105 degree food truck gonna tell me the burger truth? We arrive, I cynically slither forward. Eye contact and recognition, three pleasant smiles, me a blank canvas of doubt. We order the basics, as I wanted to see the truth they stand on. I wanted to live the core tenants of their burger belief system. The 3 minute ride home was an intensely emotional exercise of man's free will. My cynical mind attempted to ignore the truth that lie before. A roaring fire of feelings flooded with anger bubbled and boiled over into a sea of self doubt and shame. Replaying my entire burger life, I knew I didn't deserve this burger. I knew that people will always and only see the burgers I used to eat. Without warning, and with the rage of a wounded and scared baby llama, I looked away from the to go box, shook my fist in the air and screamed "I can make this myself, I don't need someone to show me the way to make burgers!" After three minutes of eternity, we arrived home. Numb to everything I seemed to float towards the couch: tv trays, sodas, the tv show Suits... my burger. Everything dancing around the living room like a night at the Beasts castle. In a whirlwind of hungry anticipation, I snatch the floating burger, flip the crispy cheese under the bun and.... Suddenly I'm taken out of place and time. I'm not here or there. Time is going backwards and sideways. This was baptism by first bite. I slowly come to, burger in hand, still chewing. My smokin hot wife to my right, enjoying her burger. Something funny happened on Suits. She laughs and it's like the first time I heard Mozart. Confused, yet excited, I eat a fry, I take a sip of regular Coke Zero because we couldn't find any cherry Coke Zero, and then I take another bite of the burger. It's as if I've never eaten and tasted. As if I've never drunk and been quenched. This transformational burger journey can be yours, you just have to be willing to take a leap of burger faith. Such a great, fun place to hang out! Next to Idol Beer, they just opened their doors. Nice outside patio with misters to keep you cool on hot summer nights! You can walk through the inside to Idol Beer company and they also have kombucha on tap there. The burgers are well known in the area and were even on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives at another location. Owned by a sweet young couple that have put their heart into this location! Say hi to Katie and Brandon when you visit! Some may know them from the food truck they have had for a few years, as they are known for the "cheese skirt" on their burgers. They also have tacos that are really different and unique, with the cheese skirt as part of the shell. Several meatless options also available. Grilled cheese, corn dogs and other sandwiches if the burgers are not what you want, but the different burgers are pretty great! Dog friendly on the patio, bring Fido! We brought our pup.
