Went in for 2 pedicures (me and friend). Service was okay wouldn't go back. I selected the runners pedicure for 65$ as they stated the massage was longer and deeper so I upgraded from the signature , which was 58$ . The massage wasn't Deep and didnt seem to be much longer , after getting up I noticed they didn't massage my heels at all which is where I've been experiencing pain lately. The nail polish application I give 1 star , she did two coats on my friends toes however there are see thru spots throughout the nail & very immature painting - I suck at painting myself but could have done better. You can also barley see the glitter top coat. The chairs were comfortable but seems they never clean the tray that holds your drink or other items . I wonder what else doesn't get cleaned. They have relaxing nature sounds playing but I didn't find myself really relaxed at all during or after my service. All in all, neither of us will be going back & don't recommend this place for pedicures. read more

Ever since I found Emily, no one else does my nails. She is so good at extensions and hard gel. She always does the perfect size extensions and never makes the nails too thick. Shaping is an art and she has mastered it. She's also very helpful with colors and ideas and can bring an inspo pic to life. They are so accommodating here. I wanted Taylor Swifts manicure and they helped me find the 10 perfect colors for each nail. They use disposable liners for the pedicure bowls and the tools are opened from sealed packages. They take a lot of walk ins so appointments are definitely not necessary but if you need a specific time or want to request a specific person give them a call and they will schedule you. If they don't answer the phone, they are very good at calling back within minutes. read more

I went here five times. There were things I liked -- everyone was pleasant, their work was competent, they have lots of times open, and parking is easy. But I've decided to stop going. My first two visits were before I moved to Austin, when I was visiting here. I got a simple French manicure. Everything went smoothly, and I considered this to be "my" nail salon in Austin. Thus, a couple of years later, when my toenails were getting gnarly, I went here for a mani-pedi. It was great! The tech (Jenny) did a super job of turning my hooves back into feet again; the manicure was great, too. However, there were three negatives: (1) I signed up at booking for the guy who had given me my last manicure, but they gave me Jenny instead. No big deal, I liked her! (2) The massage chairs were awful. It was more like being punched, pummeled, and squeezed than being massaged. (3) They charge extra for paying by credit card. A few weeks later, I booked a manicure with Jenny. When I got there, however, they said Jenny was busy and gave me someone else. I don't think she even told me her name. She did fine, but the whole interaction felt rushed and impersonal. Accordingly, I used the "Contact Us" form on their website to ask how I could request a particular tech and have my request honored. They never responded. A few weeks after that, I tried booking a manicure with Jenny again, and again I didn't get Jenny. At that point, I was done. Sorry, Jenny! read more

I've been coming here for years, since it was Phamtastic, but service has declined. With only 3 customers (strangers) they seated us all in chairs next to each other so they technicians could chat. Hard to relax when people are taking over you. And they have started to lock the entry from the parking lot meaning you have to walk three times as far to get to your car, with wet toe nails, and get accosted by some of the homeless. Technicians sit by that door to sleep or look at their phones. I think it's still clean though. read more

It's been incredibly difficult to find n upscale, organic nail salon in austin (please give recommendations!) I was looking for an upscale salon near downtown and online, the pictures of this place looked gorgeous. The pictures are definitely deceiving. It's not that it's bad, it's just not great. They follow basic hygiene, opening up new tools for each client. A lot of colors to choose from, basic beverages on offer. The spa chairs are old and do not look nice like the online pictures. Overall, it's fine. I had a $45 hot stone pedicure and it came out nice. The service was fast but it was still nice for the price point. It was OK - nothing special. Certainly not as upscale or nice as the pictures online. I'm desperate to find a nice spot in austin, sadly this isn't it. read more

My manicure was done during my pedicure and they don't switch sides; it puts your body in a weird position- uncomfortable. They have a drink bar but don't offer anything to you. My pedicure was advertised as for a runner but their massage just rubs your shins. I will never be back. read more

I've been going here for a couple of years now (b/c it's close to my work). Their pedicures are mediocre at best, however today my experience with Helen was poor and super frustrating. From me asking her to clean under my toenails and trim my cuticles. (this should be standard on a regular pedicure) She left so much skin around my cuticle, that I felt like I did not receive a pedicure. When I asked her to trim the cuticle, she said to her co-workers " Lam o day nua do" which means "she works here too" from Google translate. Super unprofessional staff and rude techs. Mgmt: train your staff on how to properly give a pedicure... pretend cutting of the cuticle / taking 2 seconds per toe is not being thorough also everyone has Google Translate now, so don't talk about your customers to their face. See pictures and this was AFTER I asked her to remove the dead skin. SMH read more

Worst experience ever. The woman doing my pedicure sliced my toe open with the cuticle pusher and then tried to go on like I wasn't gonna notice. After filling up multiple cotton balls of BLOOD. While I waited in shock for her to say something i finally told her I'd like to stop since it hurt a lot. I'm a waitress and am on my feet all day and this is definitely going to make my job harder. She then apologized only after realizing I was actually going to leave. Then she wouldn't let me even bandage my own foot. After I was telling her multiple times please stop touching me I'm bleeding a lot and it hurts. WILL NEVER EVER COME BACK HERE STAFF WAS SO UNPROFESSIONAL. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE DO NOT GO HERE. Had been going here for years until my last appointment. I was on time for my appointment, they started my manicure, then in the middle of my manicure the woman got up to work on a walk-in. They told me I would have to wait until she had finished the walk-in, even though she had already started my nails and I was on time for my appointment. This added an extra 45 minutes to my appointment and won't be back after this. read more

Definitely not going back. I decided to try these guys out despite having some bad reviews I thought it's in a nice spot so I'll give them benefit of doubt seeing as I've never experienced it myself. I came in looking for the quickest mani pedi possible with clear coat. I left an hour and fifteen minutes after I sat in the chair. I had to turn the massage function on myself and ask for a hot towel as they didn't provide one. I've never been to a nail service that didn't provide a hot towel. Once said and done with at the counter I looked down to see that they were shine polish and not the matt top coat. Already being 10 minutes late to my meeting next door, I didn't have time for them to change it or take it off. As it wasn't what I asked for I insisted to not pay. They pushed saying they completed a service so it needed to be paid for. We went back and forth with them locking the doors and claiming to call the police while I insisted I was already late for my meeting and needed to leave. I asked multiple times for the owner or general managers number so I could handle the discrepancy after my meeting but they insisted on not letting me out and I continued on the fact it wasn't the service I was looking for. Not to mention the fact when I left my ring fingernail was bleeding. It wasn't an unsanitary process, I'll give them that, as I saw them opening sterile utensils to be used fresh on me. Overall an amazing woman stepped in offering to cover the difference that the business refused to comp. She is a Christmas Saint. I accepted her offer as I had to run but she definitely shouldn't have had to be put in that position. As a business owner I know the cost it takes to retain customers and they didn't pay that today. Very disappointing for such a nice location to be taken up by a business that doesn't try too hard to retain their customers. Also very frustrating that I was put in a position where I ended up receiving the wrong service and was late for my meeting. Thankfully I was able to reschedule due to my good relationship with my client. read more

Two words - rude and unprofessional. I have personally seen them be rude to certain customers. At first I thought I could be mistaken but after numerous visits I see this is in indeed true. They do not care about the customer's experience and coming from upper management the customer is your pay check. They only care about talking to each other and gossiping. I certainly do not mind taking my money elsewhere. read more

I hate that they do not give a zero star or negative star option. Everything about this place is absolutely fucking unacceptable. I made an appt and wasn't even sat until 15 minutes later. Then had to get the attn of one of the techs informing her I made an appt and she shot back: "yeah ehvbody make/have appt" Like:: OK YEAH SO FUCKING HONOR MINE! What in the shit. I've been trying to find a nail salon in Austin that I love, and I never realized this would be so difficult. I tried Ava and up at 4:03pm for a 4pm appointment. My fiancé and I were told to sit in two of the pedicure chairs, even tho I was just getting a gel manicure. We weren't actually serviced till 4:40pm. Which was frustrating, but manicurist were really nice. So we stayed. Needless to say, I'm not thrilled. I left with gel on my skin and lumps on some of the nails (you can see it on my ring and middle finger). I didn't see it while in the salon, otherwise I would of said something. Overall, not thrilled, but not awful. read more

I love coming to Ava Nails for their pedicures! It's great how they include a sea salt sugar scrub and thorough callus treatment in their most basic classic pedicure. It's a good value for a pedicure! Thanh did a fantastic job on my recent pedicure and was extra careful because one of my big toes was recently jammed and the nail had an injury. He was able to smooth it down and now it looks great! He also spent extra time on my rough calluses and the massage was long and wondefuThey offer you drinks, the massage chairs are comfy and they are efficient. Absolutely the worst experience ever and my standards are pretty low. These are hardworking men and women and I understand that businesses have off days. I booked an appointment for 3:30 and was not serviced till 4:30. I had the benefit of the doubt but I should have just walked away. My pedicure was an absolute joke. They rushed it and the gel is all over my cuticles, so sloppy and no effort was put in. My nails are all different shapes even after asking her to go back a reshape, there is bumps on them and they are just a mess overall. Extremely disappointed. read more

This place does not value one's time at all. I waited for 35 mins past my appointment time and saw them seat 4 people (3 without appointments) before me and finally spoke up. I asked the lady and she spoke to the one man that does acrylic and asked him how much longer he would take. He said "I don't know but I haven't painted her nails yet." I've never written a negative review but making someone wait someone at least 50 mins after their appointment time is kind of unacceptable. read more

I'm just learning the importance of pampering myself. Better late than never, right? This is a lovely place to start. I'm not into fancy nails, but my manicure was lovely --nails evenly cut, and buffed to a nice shine. My ugly feet really appreciated the care and attention them -- bunions, corns and all. And who needs those stupid hairs that have started popping out of the chin, or the obnoxious little mustache that has me confused with my brother? Gone with an application of warm wax and a deft touch. In the immortal word of Arnold Schwartzeneger, I'll be back. read more

I have a lot of mixed feelings about Ava Spa. I had heard great things but my experience was less than comfortable, or ideal. I made an appointment weeks in advance for an ombré dip with tips and a gel pedicure. I arrived a few minutes early and my appointment immediately went out the window. Two different people were shouting me from across the room what I wanted and I was trying to explain I had an appointment and one of the nail techs just kept asking what I wanted, which I told her. When I sat down I showed her a very simple pink and gold ombré nail which seemed to rock her world. The other tech next to her talked to her about it for quite some time and when it came time to ombré she simply couldn't do it. Several other employees came to guide and supervise and it eventually turned out close to what I asked for, and I accepted it. Now by this pout I'm seeing everyone with drinks and not once I have been offered anything, contrary to many previous reviews before me. When she finished my nails she tried to whisk me up front to check out and seemed HIGHLY confused by me telling her I had a pedicure appointment. As they took walk in after walk in she began to tell me I would have to wait which was not going to go over well with me, but after much discussion they somehow figured it out. I was given a chair with no guidance or attention and when I finally requested a beverage it seemed to be a huge ask. The supposed 30 min pedicure barely lasted 20 and for a total of $154 I expected MUCH, much higher quality service. When I tipped and checked out, I was never once acknowledged or thanked which I found very distasteful. read more

Emily is AMAZING!!!! I have been to many salons, not only in Texas but around the US. She has such a good eye, and is so gifted in what she does. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (a design she had previously done) and she proceeded to adorn me with the best set of nails I think I've EVER had. Although I chose a simple set, Emily was a perfectionist taking the time to give me EXACTLY (well, even better) what I asked her for while charging me EXTREMELY fairly. Thank you Emily!!! You did what I could never do, and made my day. You're the best, and I can't wait to get more beautiful nails done by you. read more

UPDATE: Seems like the owner replied saying that my manicure "looks nice" even though she would never wear it on her own hands. The pictures I uploaded speak for themselves. Yes, the technician spent a lot of time on my nails but that doesn't imply she's skilled or good. The owner also conveniently chose not to comment on the bad pedicure pictures. I WILL be going elsewhere that isn't run by a rude person, don't have to "recommend" the obvious to me. Keep swindling your customers because you believe your standards are above your customer's standards. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I am out $122 with nails and toes that look like a child did them. I came to Ava Spa & Nails hopeful after seeing so many good reviews and pretty photos. But this place lacks the basic skills to do a French manicure and gel pedicure. Starting with the pedicure, I opted for the deluxe one with gel. The guy doing my nails did not greet or interact with me at all. He seemed very annoyed and had AirPods in and sang the whole time. He dropped the tools he was using on my feet several times on the ground and did not clean them. He looked at me angrily as if it was my fault that he couldn't work in an organized fashion. His work was extremely careless and sloppy as you can see in the pictures where he apparently didn't know where my toes started or ended. It literally looks like a chipped gel pedicure from the start. Not to mention the pedicure lasted maybe 25 minutes and felt extremely rushed. But the REAL horror of my visit was getting a full set French manicure. The girl doing my nails tried to make me feel crazy for pointing out how streaky and messy her work was with the white lines and corners. I had to ask not once or twice, but ten different times for her to please go over the streaks and make the white color opaque. I showed her images of what I wanted online and that's when I knew something was off. She told me that all the pictures of French manicures online were photoshopped.... like what? Then she tried telling me that a CLEAR TOP COAT would fix the streakiness (at this point the white portion was already cured). This was when I had to beg her to give me a double coat of the white, knowing anything beyond that was unsalvageable. I went to pay after spending 2.5 hours on nails that I hated and the cashier tells me my total is $140. In my head I estimated it to be ~$110 based off their online prices. I ask her to break it down and apparently this salon not only charges $5 to shape your nails, BUT $25 EXTRA FOR FRENCH because they consider it to be "nail art". Out of all the nail salons I've been to in Austin, I have never seen a French add-on cost more than $5-10. I showed the owner my nails, filled with sloppy corners, bleeding white streaks, and how terrible my cuticles looked, to which she replied that 1) the technician spent A LOT of time on my nails (don't see how that's relevant) and 2) cuticle care isn't included in the whopping $80. Important to note that the owner NEVER acknowledged the fact that the work wasn't good, but I KNEW she knew. I turned my phone's flashlight on to show her in HD how terrible the work was. Otherwise she would have defended the work saying it was fine or something along those lines. She offered me a grand 10% discount to make up for it. Yay me. Anyways, please save your money and go somewhere else where they actually care for you and don't make you feel delusional. read more
