Went in for 2 pedicures (me and friend). Service was okay wouldn't go back. I selected the runners pedicure for 65$ as they stated the massage was longer and deeper so I upgraded from the signature , which was 58$ . The massage wasn't Deep and didnt seem to be much longer , after getting up I noticed they didn't massage my heels at all which is where I've been experiencing pain lately. The nail polish application I give 1 star , she did two coats on my friends toes however there are see thru spots throughout the nail & very immature painting - I suck at painting myself but could have done better. You can also barley see the glitter top coat. The chairs were comfortable but seems they never clean the tray that holds your drink or other items . I wonder what else doesn't get cleaned. They have relaxing nature sounds playing but I didn't find myself really relaxed at all during or after my service. All in all, neither of us will be going back & don't recommend this place for pedicures. read more

Ever since I found Emily, no one else does my nails. She is so good at extensions and hard gel. She always does the perfect size extensions and never makes the nails too thick. Shaping is an art and she has mastered it. She's also very helpful with colors and ideas and can bring an inspo pic to life. They are so accommodating here. I wanted Taylor Swifts manicure and they helped me find the 10 perfect colors for each nail. They use disposable liners for the pedicure bowls and the tools are opened from sealed packages. They take a lot of walk ins so appointments are definitely not necessary but if you need a specific time or want to request a specific person give them a call and they will schedule you. If they don't answer the phone, they are very good at calling back within minutes. read more

My first two visits were before I moved to Austin, when I was visiting here. I got a simple French manicure. Everything went smoothly, and I considered this to be "my" nail salon in Austin. Thus, a couple of years later, when my toenails were getting gnarly, I went here for a mani-pedi. It was great! The tech (Jenny) did a super job of turning my hooves back into feet again; the manicure was great, too. However, there were three negatives: (1) I signed up at booking for the guy who had given me my last manicure, but they gave me Jenny instead. No big deal, I liked her! (2) The massage chairs were awful. It was more like being punched, pummeled, and squeezed than being massaged. (3) They charge extra for paying by credit card. A few weeks later, I booked a manicure with Jenny. When I got there, however, they said Jenny was busy and gave me someone else. I don't think she even told me her name. She did fine, but the whole interaction felt rushed and impersonal. Accordingly, I used the "Contact Us" form on their website to ask how I could request a particular tech and have my request honored. They never responded. Hard to relax when people are taking over you. And they have started to lock the entry from the parking lot meaning you have to walk three times as far to get to your car, with wet toe nails, and get accosted by some of the homeless. I was looking for an upscale salon near downtown and online, the pictures of this place looked gorgeous. The pictures are definitely deceiving. It's not that it's bad, it's just not great. They follow basic hygiene, opening up new tools for each client. A lot of colors to choose from, basic beverages on offer. The spa chairs are old and do not look nice like the online pictures. Definitely not going back. I decided to try these guys out despite having some bad reviews I thought it's in a nice spot so I'll give them benefit of doubt seeing as I've never experienced it myself. I came in looking for the quickest mani pedi possible with clear coat. I left an hour and fifteen minutes after I sat in the chair. I had to turn the massage function on myself and ask for a hot towel as they didn't provide one. I've never been to a nail service that didn't provide a hot towel. Once said and done with at the counter I looked down to see that they were shine polish and not the matt top coat. Already being 10 minutes late to my meeting next door, I didn't have time for them to change it or take it off. As it wasn't what I asked for I insisted to not pay. They pushed saying they completed a service so it needed to be paid for. We went back and forth with them locking the doors and claiming to call the police while I insisted I was already late for my meeting and needed to leave. I asked multiple times for the owner or general managers number so I could handle the discrepancy after my meeting but they insisted on not letting me out and I continued on the fact it wasn't the service I was looking for. Not to mention the fact when I left my ring fingernail was bleeding. It wasn't an unsanitary process, I'll give them that, as I saw them opening sterile utensils to be used fresh on me. Overall an amazing woman stepped in offering to cover the difference that the business refused to comp. She is a Christmas Saint. I accepted her offer as I had to run but she definitely shouldn't have had to be put in that position. As a business owner I know the cost it takes to retain customers and they didn't pay that today. Very disappointing for such a nice location to be taken up by a business that doesn't try too hard to retain their customers. Also very frustrating that I was put in a position where I ended up receiving the wrong service and was late for my meeting. My fiancé and I were told to sit in two of the pedicure chairs, even tho I was just getting a gel manicure. We weren't actually serviced till 4:40pm. Which was frustrating, but manicurist were really nice. So we stayed. Needless to say, I'm not thrilled. I left with gel on my skin and lumps on some of the nails (you can see it on my ring and middle finger). I didn't see it while in the salon, otherwise I would of said something. I booked an appointment for 3:30 and was not serviced till 4:30. I had the benefit of the doubt but I should have just walked away. My pedicure was an absolute joke. They rushed it and the gel is all over my cuticles, so sloppy and no effort was put in. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Ava Spa. I had heard great things but my experience was less than comfortable, or ideal. I made an appointment weeks in advance for an ombré dip with tips and a gel pedicure. I arrived a few minutes early and my appointment immediately went out the window. Two different people were shouting me from across the room what I wanted and I was trying to explain I had an appointment and one of the nail techs just kept asking what I wanted, which I told her. When I sat down I showed her a very simple pink and gold ombré nail which seemed to rock her world. The other tech next to her talked to her about it for quite some time and when it came time to ombré she simply couldn't do it. Several other employees came to guide and supervise and it eventually turned out close to what I asked for, and I accepted it. Now by this pout I'm seeing everyone with drinks and not once I have been offered anything, contrary to many previous reviews before me. When she finished my nails she tried to whisk me up front to check out and seemed HIGHLY confused by me telling her I had a pedicure appointment. As they took walk in after walk in she began to tell me I would have to wait which was not going to go over well with me, but after much discussion they somehow figured it out. I was given a chair with no guidance or attention and when I finally requested a beverage it seemed to be a huge ask. The supposed 30 min pedicure barely lasted 20 and for a total of $154 I expected MUCH, much higher quality service. When I tipped and checked out, I was never once acknowledged or thanked which I found very distasteful. read more

But this place lacks the basic skills to do a French manicure and gel pedicure. Starting with the pedicure, I opted for the deluxe one with gel. The guy doing my nails did not greet or interact with me at all. He seemed very annoyed and had AirPods in and sang the whole time. He dropped the tools he was using on my feet several times on the ground and did not clean them. He looked at me angrily as if it was my fault that he couldn't work in an organized fashion. His work was extremely careless and sloppy as you can see in the pictures where he apparently didn't know where my toes started or ended. It literally looks like a chipped gel pedicure from the start. Not to mention the pedicure lasted maybe 25 minutes and felt extremely rushed. But the REAL horror of my visit was getting a full set French manicure. The girl doing my nails tried to make me feel crazy for pointing out how streaky and messy her work was with the white lines and corners. I had to ask not once or twice, but ten different times for her to please go over the streaks and make the white color opaque. I showed her images of what I wanted online and that's when I knew something was off. She told me that all the pictures of French manicures online were photoshopped.... like what? Then she tried telling me that a CLEAR TOP COAT would fix the streakiness (at this point the white portion was already cured). This was when I had to beg her to give me a double coat of the white, knowing anything beyond that was unsalvageable. I went to pay after spending 2.5 hours on nails that I hated and the cashier tells me my total is $140. In my head I estimated it to be ~$110 based off their online prices. I ask her to break it down and apparently this salon not only charges $5 to shape your nails, BUT $25 EXTRA FOR FRENCH because they consider it to be "nail art". Out of all the nail salons I've been to in Austin, I have never seen a French add-on cost more than $5-10. I showed the owner my nails, filled with sloppy corners, bleeding white streaks, and how terrible my cuticles looked, to which she replied that 1) the technician spent A LOT of time on my nails (don't see how that's relevant) and 2) cuticle care isn't included in the whopping $80. Important to note that the owner NEVER acknowledged the fact that the work wasn't good, but I KNEW she knew. I turned my phone's flashlight on to show her in HD how terrible the work was. Otherwise she would have defended the work saying it was fine or something along those lines. She offered me a grand 10% discount to make up for it. Yay me. Anyways, please save your money and go somewhere else where they actually care for you and don't make you feel delusional. read more

I found this nail salon a couple of years ago and used to love going there. However, my last couple of visits have been disappointing. I always make an appointment, but they seated walk-ins ahead of me, even though they had no appointment and I did. I used to love how careful the pedicure trimming, shaping and painting were done. But the technicians now rush through the service, leaving the shaping unevenly cut. And the polish is applied unevenly, so you can see that the polish has not gone all the way to the edges. Also, instead of thin layers of polish, they glop it on in thick layers, so that the pedicure chips and does not last. I had to laugh as I was checking out at the same time as one of the walk-ins they took ahead of me - she was tipping $5 for a $100 service (5% tip). I always tip 20%, even for the not-so-great customer service and pedicure. But I will be looking for a new nail place after my recent experiences. read more
