I love this place! I found them from ClassPass and I've had great experiences all three times I've gone. I typically get regular polish and I've noticed that when I get my nails done here they wont chip until around 1.5 weeks - even with me working in the service industry all summer. I've been trying to find a nail salon in Austin that I love, and I never realized this would be so difficult. I tried Ava and up at 4:03pm for a 4pm appointment. My fiancé and I were told to sit in two of the pedicure chairs, even tho I was just getting a gel manicure. We weren't actually serviced till 4:40pm. Which was frustrating, but manicurist were really nice. So we stayed. Needless to say, I'm not thrilled. I left with gel on my skin and lumps on some of the nails (you can see it on my ring and middle finger). I didn't see it while in the salon, otherwise I would of said something. I came in the Sunday before my wedding. I struggled to find a dip color from their booklet. The tech insisted on using the color she "uses often" but it wasn't in the booklet and there weren't any photos to show as examples. She was getting very upset with me because I kept showing a picture of the color I was looking for. I gave up and picked a color from another booklet they brought out. I was very uncomfortable. And then very disappointed with how my nails turned out. On top of that, I had to pay to get them re done. Such a waste of time. Not the added stress I needed when my wedding is days away. The manager was rude and even with an appointment there was a wait. It felt rushed and the polish job on the pedicure wasn't up to par -- it's streaky and there's about half an inch of space on my big toes without polish, all the sides on the toes have obvious no-polish gaps. Add-on after response from Spa: I'm even more put-off now seeing this response about a ludicrous investigation and implying I'm a liar and was never a patron. 1. You don't know my name and/or phone number so, WHO, WHAT and HOW - exactly - did you "investigate?" 2. For me to have checked-in, you can figure out what day (even time) and see that I WAS there. 3. Alex at Ava Spa & Nails is the only one I want from now on. He's so quick and proficient and my nails look great! I was 10 minutes late for my scheduled mani/pedi appointment with a different nail tech so she passed me over to take another client. I had to wait 30 minutes until another nail tech became available- totally my fault for being late and I'm not complaining at all. In fact, I'm so glad because the next available nail tech turned out to be Alex! So with my 10 minutes of lateness plus another 30 minute wait for the next available nail tech, I was going to be late to my next appointment if I had both mani/pedi done. I told Alex had to be somewhere else so I could only do mani, Alex said he could still do both mani/pedi and he got me done on time and with the best mani/pedi I've ever had. read more

What's the point in making a booking with a specific nail technician if more than half the time you don't get the person you asked for? They always overbook themselves and don't contact customers beforehand about being late. They are never on time and customers that have appointments always have to sit around and wait for at least 20 minutes. A courtesy call to customers that booked an appointment in advance is not even considered when they are running late. This is extremely frustrating and unacceptable service! read more

Came on a weekday afternoon with my mom in from out of town! Asked for 2 deluxe pedicures and watched them rush through mine in 30 minutes while my mom's wasn't even started yet. Meanwhile a lady on the end was getting hers done when we walked in and still being worked on when we left. Ultimately would have not stayed if we knew they didn't have the staff to work on us both simultaneously or if it meant rushing through to accommodate us, but they did not let us know. Unfortunately I have gone here twice and always hope to love it because it's so convenient to where I live...I know businesses on 5th don't survive long so I'm going easy on the review. But the chairs always seem to be a bit dirty, they scoop the pedicure buckets with a water pitcher when it's too full, and on top of that, they don't do a great job on painting. It doesn't matter if you get an appt, they'll keep you waited 45 min and don't even care or say anything.

This place has a nice interior, but my manicure turned out awful. The lines were uneven and very thick. I was very disappointed in how my French tips look. They simply didn't look professional, clean it well done. The clear coat was also not evenly distributed and there was even a hair in my polish. I got French tips and the white was spreading all over my nail. I pointed it out to another person working and all they did was put more clear coat on. The application was so bad that entire layers of polish came off in less then 12 hours of having them painted. Photos attached were all taken within a couple hours of getting them done. By the end of the day half of the nails polish had completely come off like the thumb in the picture. Maybe they used a bad or wrong product? read more
