I've been coming here for a year or so now. Appointments are easy enough to get (I usually ask for Tom or Ivy) and the service is pretty fast (1 hour for gel removal and a gel mani with a little bit of design work usually for me). Could the customer service be warmer? Absolutely. I don't mind the lack of conversation or small talk when getting my nails tbh(i like zoning out when getting my nails done lol), but if just the front desk area could be a bit warmer would be nice. This place rescued my thin tattered nails after being stuck at home for three months during the pandemic. I opted for a powder dip manicure. Thom was my technician and he did a wonderful job. The manicure was relaxing and painless. He was very friendly. My nails were super short when I came in and Thom did his best to make my nails as even as possible. The salon is beautiful, bright, and clean. The fact that it is a cruelty free salon is a HUGE plus for me as well. I feel like myself again with these pretty nails. I went in today and a male tech (not the manager) rushed the service and then gave me a basic gel pedicure when I requested a hot stone pedicure. His vibe was off because he thought I was doing a basic pedicure - bottom line he was not listening. The management response when I complained was "don't use him - use your normal person." The nail tech name was Mike. He was friendly but he did not ask for my name. If your a new client shouldn't you ask your client for there name so you can build a good client relationship? He was very attentive towards my nails. The nail salon is very modern. It was clean. I really loved the grey and white color scheme. I did also like that everyone was speaking English. Sometimes you go into a nail salon and everyone is talking in there native language. Here all the nail techs keep to themselves and there clients. I did over hear other nail techs being very detailed talking to there clients. Very professional. I wish the price list was more updated. I went in for a pink and white (ombre). On there website it stated $55. He told me $65 in person I asked why the price difference he just said new technique? Fill in for pink and white starts at $45. If anyone wants to keep that in mind. This did not include a manicure the normal soak your nails in a bowl of water and clean your cuticles. Mike did clean up my cuticles after when he saw it was dry. I also recieved a gel pedicure. Holly who did my pedicure was good at cutting down and cleaning the cuticles. The paint job was ok not the greatest. She did keep asking how I wanted it and if I was ok with it. I just said it was ok. Basic french pedicure. Overall very friendly lady. They do offer 10% discount for the services. I may give them a second try for my fill in. I got there right at 9:30 AM after I called and made an appointment and Mike was going to do my nails I wanted, squared, nails with sparkly glitter, and then pink, red and white hearts on my ring and middle finger. I was that right in front of the door and it is very cold so I kept getting the cold breeze which wasn't that big of a deal but that is how it started from the time that I sat down to the time that I walked out the door it took 30 minutes there were a minimum of 10 people that had walked in and out wanting to get something done. Mike rushed through my nails in order to finish.. when I told him that I wanted pink red and white hearts, he told me no I could only have to. So I agree, just to do red and white. After I paid $60 to get my nails done and was sitting in my car, I realized that they were not even on both hands in length some of them are crooked and there was even a piece of dirt that he left on and just filed it off so now there is a file mark on my fingernail. THE BAD: The manager and the techs are just not very welcoming at all. There is no rapport. I feel like cattle that they just need to take care of and set on our way. My gel nails pop off within 4 days whenever I came here. The last time, it popped off within a day. If I go to the other nail salon I frequent closer to my work, it lasts 2-3 weeks. I am giving this salon because of their poor customer service. I was initially recommended to this shop sometime last year by a friend (who no longer goes here for the same reason). I usually see Jennifer but today, I was extremely disappointed with her attitude. Initially I just assumed she just wasn't very personable because no matter how many times I came, she was always cold. No hello, nothing. Most of my visits have been throughout my pregnancy and during one of my appointments I was late and forgot to call. I was berated and it was very disappointing because I was heavily pregnant and it was a bit tough to get there that day. I apologized for not calling but Jennifer and the manager were very rude to me and I said I would not come back. However, I came back today and I probably should not have. Especially since I live 20 minutes away. The fact that she thought it was ok to walk away after putting acetone on my nails and tell her boss she is not doing my nails is unprofessional. I decided to leave because as she said there are other salons I can go to. Overall, I have watched how they treat their customers and they definitely do not treat them all the same based on race. This place is a hit or miss depending on who you get I went in February 3rd at 1pm and decided to get dip powder with acrylics. Biggest mistake I'll ever done and I been going here for over 1 year. I tried another nail salon and as the lady is removing the acrylic off I had fungus growing my nails were lifting! Secondly, in my toes the lady that did it file my nail down soo much that she filled in my nail with polish. I don't recommend this place! He was very black and white, very short and to the point. I had no feeling of warmth from him, like he truly cared about my business. I went to my appointment, I asked if they provided the gel x service, the person who had answered the phone earlier( I recognized his voice) responded from somewhere in the back of the salon which a sharp "no" I thought this was very rude because he could have came up to me and asked more questions regarding what I was inquiring about. I believe the girl that did my nails was Kelly. When it was time to wash my hands she asked me to wash them, and I courteously asked if she wanted me to wash with soap or just water she responded "whatever you want". I'm sorry but that is not professional. Does the salon do a good job at nails? Yes they do. But their customer service is terrible. Will I be going back? I had come to Ava's several times before the pandemic hit and had a wonderful experience. It has been over a year since I came back, and my thoughtful sister booked a mani & pedi combo for four of us for Mother's Day weekend, my son's baptism, and my PhD graduation. Needless to say, four mamas were super excited and in serious need of some pampering. Unfortunately, that's not the experience we received. We had very quick service, even with the specialty package (2 minute foot massage instead of the advertised 5), and mediocre paint job (I had to ask my technician to touch up some areas she removed while cleaning edges). After I did so, my quite friendly technician became curt and even rude. I addressed her on the spot and we smoothed things over quickly. Unfortunately, my sister had an *extremely rude* technician, with a nametag of "Mimi," who told me sister she could not do any of the 4 designs on her ring finger she showed her (in my humble opinion, they didn't seem too complex). Despite all this, my sister remained patient and completed her service. When it came time to pay the almost $300 bill, she was accused in front of the whole store of asking for more discounts then they would allow, though she was just asking for clarification of the billing. It truly left a bad taste in my mouth and we won't be returning. It's really unfortunate. The only reason this review did not receive one star is because I had previously received good service. Do yourself a favor and find a nail salon that values the customer's experience and won't shortchange you. read more

Mike started my removal and Kevin finished and did the new manicure. Worst nail salon experience ever!!! I had a 5:15 appointment tonight, they took me back to my chair at around 5:25, water was lukewarm but OK. I then proceeded to sit there and wait till almost 6 o'clock before someone came over to start my pedicure!!!! pedicure was fine nothing special, I was a bit grossed out by the tools (brush was black towards the bottom of the bristles) and tech was banging the tools on the floor. The only reason why I went to this particular salon was because I was given a gift card for $50. My pedicure was $45 I asked if I could use the five dollar difference towards her tip and was told no. so now I have a gift card with five dollars on it that I will never use!!!! 515 appointment and I left there at 6:50!!! my polish is all bumpy and I have polish it on the outsides of my nail beds. My regular nail technician at a different nail salon was on vacation so I decided to stop by this nail salon just for a pedicure. The spa was clean however it was 9 AM in the morning when they first opened so I really don't know about their cleanliness. What I do know is the pedicure was just a mess. The guy that did the pedicure seem to be new as he didn't really seem to know what he was doing. He cut the cuticle on one of my toes and every chemical that touched my toe there after burned like hell! As you can see in the picture attached, the shape of my toenails are a mess as well. I was not asked what shape I wanted and never do a rounded nail, if this is even considered round. The worst part was he clearly did not know how to polish and left polish around the edges of a few toes. The shop does not have a drying system so I was left to sit in the pedicure chair for an additional 15 minutes only for my toes to still be very wet and therefore messed up as soon as I got up.
