I got my nails done here because I was in the area and needed a fill and pedi before my vacation. The reviews looked ok and a fill it's hard to mess up a gel pedi now a days. I got something super simple white gel pedi and a gel fill, what I thought would be an easy paint design (flowers). I've been get my nails done since i was 14 ish and most salons have at least one person that can do designs so I felt safe, lol. Nonetheless, all turned out well except to my surprise my floral/flower design was a nail sticker. Reminded me of back in the day when we got airbrush, but it looked good so I won't complain. I really wish I didn't have to do this. I've been coming to this nail spa since they first opened around the beginning of the pandemic. I'm the customer that once I find a place I'll stick with it until it's no longer an option for me. I can say that VIP nails in Columbia MD is no longer a place for me. They are under staffed for sure and I've displayed patience on numerous occasions. On Friday November 11, I had an appointment set for 5:30pm with David. I called to inform the spa that I would be running a little behind. Upon arrival know one told me that I would NOT be serviced by David. I was serviced by Jimmy. (I believe that's his name). My pedicure was fine however my nails are awful. My event was the following day and I will post pictures below of how my nails looked the following day (Saturday) right before my event. This place has most definitely lost a loyal customer. One thing I hate is wasting my money and time. I called the spa about my complaint and was told I could not get a refund but they would fix the issue. I decided not to go back and I will look elsewhere. I came with my daughter to get manicures and pedicures. We are from NY and this salon was pretty close to our hotel. The people who work there are very nice but it was extremely expensive for what you got. At my salon in NY for that price you get a very relaxing spa pedicure experience and a 10 min massage with your pedicure. This was very quick and felt rushed. The girl who did my pedicure did a good job with the polish but my manicure is horrible. The polish does not even go down to my cuticles. There is a gap and the polish looks uneven. I don't live here but I would not come back if i did. Way too overpriced and nothing like what I'm used to back home. Our nails were also all chipped the next day. read more

They don't sanitize their nail files or implements which is very unsanitary. This can cause nail fungus and infections in customers.

Hello, Very nice staff,, clean but WAY too expensive!! For an SNS, that usually includes tips, they charged me 5.00 xtra. Also their pedicures are way over priced for the time they spend on it, 45.00 for a spa pedi and 30.00 for a basic. Don't get me wrong, happy with my nails but 100.00 every two weeks for this, noooooo wayyyyyy!! Many other salons in Columbia that do SNS for fair price including tips, if wanted, plus a extended pedicure for 45.00 that.m blows what they did out of the water. Had my first nail appt here, got a full set acrylics. Over the phone they were very easy and fast to set appts and answer any questions i had. During my appt they were very nice and friendly, nail technician was very gentle with me and did everything wonderfully, I personally think my nails came out beautiful and the place was very comforting. 10/10 would come again. read more

I have now gone to VIP 3 times and I love them. They do not rush through your service, they want it perfect. I went in today without an appointment and they were able to fit my daughter and I in. I wanted a specialty gel manicure and showed them a picture and the young woman did an awesome job. She referred back to the picture frequently and just made sure each step was completely done. It took over 2 hours but was worth it. If you want a great manicure or acrylics (my older daughter gets them) then come here and say, "Kim sent ya." Again, they don't rush through and are very detail oriented. I give them 10 stars. Also, forgot to mention they are very diligent about cleaning. When someone was not working with a person they were wiping surfaces down. In the 2 hours I was there I had to see them wipe things down about 7 or 8 times at least. Got a pedicure today from Jenny. The salon is limiting customers and taking extra precautions due to covid. They asked me to wash my hands as soon as I walked in which made me so happy! This is by far the best nail salon I have ever been to. I have been to VIP at least four times in the last year (before and during COVID) and the staff do such a great job. Everyone is friendly and my gel manicures last for over a month without peeling or chipping. I never want to go to another salon because VIP really does the best job and lasts the longest. read more

I usually never do bad reviews but here goes.....I first went to this salon hearing about how great Jenny was and decided to book an appointment with her. When I first went here a couple weeks ago, I saw Tracey who was awesome by the way but she still encouraged me to see Jenny since that's who I originally wanted to book with and had to initially reschedule. Well, I finally was able to see her yesterday. My appointment was at 2 and I walked in around 1:50, but did not actually get serviced by Jenny until 2:30. There were a few things I noticed besides the late service but I don't mind waiting sometimes. One, Jenny had an attitude and didn't seem to want to be bothered, she acted like she had somewhere else better to be. Second, the utensils did not seem clean whatsoever, she ended up cutting me, never said sorry just wiped my finger with a towel then some mysterious green liquid. Third, she was rough and seemed like she had a problem with changing the shape of my nails and getting a new color for me. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day but I won't be returning. Very good experience at nail salon. I made appointment the day before for pedicure. Appointment was very easy to make. I arrived a few minutes early for 11am appointment on Friday. I was taken back to pedicure chair within few minutes. The salon was clean and inviting. They used necessary precautions before starting work. It was only 3 customers including myself so I felt that they are adhering to social distancing guidelines. David completed my pedicure with designs. My temperature was taken at the door, my information recorded for the purpose of contact tracing, and I was instructed to wash my hands upon entry. That was a horrible experience. Uncomfortable chair, scalding water, completely ignored by the nail tech. Three different people came in while I was there for my mani pedi to complain that their GEL had chipped! Wtf? I should have known after that... but I went through with it. My polish chipped IMMEDIATELY and by the next morning I had to go buy a bottle of polish to repair my manicure before the wedding I was going to. They destroyed my cuticles and fingertips tearing and cutting off skin so it was painful to remove the chipped polish. Just awful. Go somewhere else. read more
